Called 9/20/2011 looking for my daughter.  Said she should call West Asset Mgt. at 877.411.7197.

It is West Asset Management. My best advice is to let them talk to the voicemail. Do not give them the chance to find out that there is a live voice/human being on the other end of the line. My wife answered their call several months ago and they were looking for somebody we never heard of. Now they have called 24 times in the last 25 days, anywhere from 8am to 9pm, every day of the week (Saturdays and Sundays included). They are a "dangerous" debt collection company. Just read the other posts here. Do not answer the phone! You could open up a can of worms! Do not become a horror story!

A woman ask for someone who does not live at my number and I tried to tell her this , but very billigerant stated we only want who we called and then hung up.

This number calls daily and they never say anything, it is my my mom's home phone and she is very ill, this is upsetting to her as she has no idea who it could possibly be.  Caller ID says West Asset MGMT. I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thank you.

Received several calls from this number. Call back to find out who they are.... West Asset Mgmt but they would not tell me what they wanted. I have no debts so don't know if they are calling the wrong person or how they got my number when it is unlisted. I am also on the DNC list. I have contacted the PUC (Public Utility Commission) and will file a complaint with the Attorney General.

I just called the 1-888 # for billing and told the man that I was 79 years old and didn't owe anyone anything.  He looked up my phone number and asked for a person other than myself.  I told him I had only had this # a couple of years and he was very kind.  Apologized and took my name off of the list.  He said sometimes the phone company does NOT update their list.  Worth a call if they keep bothering you.  Very nice man.

I am getting calls from West Asset Management 214-506-7148.  I DO NOT owe anyone money, please have them stop calling me, I am a senior citizen 79 years old and retired 15 years ago and have a great credit rating.  This is stress and if they do NOT stop I'm going to the Attorney General.

Send these guys a letter, stating that you are logging all incoming calls from their telephone numbers, and you are hereby ordering them to CEASE ALL FUTURE CALLS. TELL THEM THAT ALL COMMUNICATION MUST BE BY FIRST CLASS US MAIL ONLY.

In your letter advise them that you intend to file a complaint with the FCC as well as your State Attorney General if they continue to call beyond the date they receive this letter.

Now send your letter certified mail return receipt requested. You will receive the  green card back, within a few days after their agent receives and signs for your letter. This is your proof they received your letter.

I think all calls made after they receive your letter is subject to up to $1500.00 penalty per call.

Got the message "please hold for a very important call...we will be right with you".
I hung up.

Got two more calls from this number today, an hour apart, asking me to hold for an important call.

Robo call that digitally asks for a coworker giving the option of pressing "1" if you're the person; "2" to put the call on hold while the person comes to the phone; or "3" the person is not available.  They need to add option "4" to self-destruct!

Everyone scan down and read the May 17 ad from Alfalfa.  Very important info on this caller, West Asset Management, Inc.

does anyone know if blocking these numbers will help.  I just blocked the number by pressing *60 and entering the number on my "do not accept call from this number list" just wandering if this will help. It cant hurt. They are driving me and my family crazy !

This was an unknown number to me from my caller ID, so I have pre-recored those 1-800 "Sex Line" recordings, so I pushed the answer button & put my recorder to the phone 7 just let the recording do the NASSTY work !! And thats what they got from me;    ...  "Just Ho**y Mothers who know how to please"!!. It could have been a Bill Collector (the economy is in such bad shape, I'm getting calls about 1995 bills I couldn't pay after a career change).  But, everyone ought to do this to unwanted calls.

Most of the posters on here are lucky to get 3-4 calls a day.

Leading Debt Collector Agrees to Pay Record $2.8 Million to Settle FTC Charges

A leading debt collection company has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $2.8 million to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that its aggressive collection techniques violated federal law. As part of its efforts to protect consumers affected by the struggling economy, the FTC alleged that West Asset Management, Inc. violated the FTC Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the FTC?s complaint, thousands of consumer complaints have been filed against West Asset Management Inc., which employs 1,500 debt collectors in 13 states and one offshore location. West Asset Management debt collectors allegedly violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by calling consumers multiple times each day, often regarding accounts that did not belong to them, and sometimes using rude and abusive language. The FTC further charged that West Asset Management also illegally disclosed the existence of consumers? debts to third parties and ignored consumers? written demands that West Asset Management stop calling them.

The company also allegedly withdrew funds from consumers? bank accounts or charged their credit cards without consent and falsely claimed that consumers would be sued, arrested, or have their property seized for nonpayment of their debt. In addition, the FTC alleged that West Asset Management falsely claimed that partial payments would be accepted as full settlement on accounts and that negative information would stay on consumers? credit reports until debts were paid. According to the complaint, West Asset Management has collected on more than 24 million accounts on behalf of clients in the healthcare, telecommunications, consumer credit, and government service industries.

The settlement imposes a $2.8 million civil penalty, which is the largest civil penalty obtained by the FTC in a debt collection case. The settlement order permanently prohibits West Asset from using false, deceptive or unfair debt collection tactics, including:

Misrepresenting itself as a law firm or that its collectors are attorneys;
Misrepresenting that debtors will be arrested or have their property seized if they don?t pay;
Threatening actions that would be illegal, or actions that the company has no intention of taking;
Making false statements to collect a debt or obtain information about a consumer;
Withdrawing funds from consumers? bank accounts or charging their credit cards without their consent;
Depositing postdated checks before the date on the check, or threatening to do so;
Revealing to third parties that a consumer owes a debt;
Asking a third party for a consumer?s location information more than once without the third party?s consent or a reasonable belief that the person?s earlier response was wrong or incomplete and that the person now has correct location information;
Calling consumers before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m., or at their workplace;
Communicating with a consumer after receiving written notice that the consumer refuses to pay or wants the collector to stop calling; and
Using obscene or profane language, or harassing consumers with repeated phone calls.

yep, West Asset Management. One of my delinquent medical bills was sold to this company and they don't give up! RELENTLESS!!! I usually ignore the calls, but they surprised me by calling my work number so I answered it and the person wanted me to verify my social and my DOB. After reapeatedly telling the lady that I was not going to give any personal info, she hung up!

I receive calls daily from this number and there is never anyone on the line. I am on the DO NOT call list but it does not appear to matter.

the first time they called me they said they wanted to go ahead and accept my offer to pay $2200 on a debt i don't have. when i said i've never talked to you how could we make a deal he got rude so i hung up. calls at least 3 to 4 times a day to my cell my wife's busines phone & my home phone.

Belligerant and hostile caller asking for my wife.  I want to know who is wanting to my wife who is very ill from back surgery
