Debt Collector
They have been calling me, they won't answer their phone. I know I haven't committed check fraud.  I know my rights as a consumer and have been in suit before over debt.  It doesn't work like that for them to just call and threaten, they have to make themselves known.  I am not paying anything to someone who won't name themselves.  I am not worried.  Look up debt collections law in your area.  There are rules...

My husband got the call from this number, and they asked for me, so I called them back and spoke to a Joshua white and he said I was being sued and the company is called litigation and that I had a sprint account balance of 1,300 and I had 48 hours to pay!  Really? I have never had sprint service before! It sounds so real, but now from reading all these posts, I know it's a hoax! Thanks everyone for your comments!

Same thing as others have described above. I've been receiving calls throughout the day from an un identified number. Then I got a sketchy voice mail re: bank fraud & that I had one day to reply. Seems like they are working a scam.

Someone from 214-550-5041 keeps calling my cell phone AND work number and won't stop. I have demanded that they stop and I get hung up on.  I have called back and yelled at the person telling them that they have not even bothered to ask me what number I am calling from so they can stop the calls and again, I get hung up on. They answer the phone as "Litigation" and when you ask then what this is about all they can say is "You are being sued."   How do I make these calls stop?  I know for a fact I am not being sued and I have even told them that this is a hoax and they will be reported.  The girl on the other end just says "Go ahead and report us, it won't matter or make a difference until you pay your debt."  I've asked what debt, I literally have no debts and again...hung up on. I don't even know how they got both of my numbers or why they keep calling.

Random readers cannot defend your rights for you. This is your battle to win. Federal and state laws stand ready to help as I'd discussed this week.

Try reading the material I linked to the other day. It's hosted by the two federal agencies with oversight of debt collectors. Attorneys general are also valid complaint stops. But if you want to cure your own problem with runaway skip trace calls, it's best if you take direct action rather than wait for a rescue which may never come.

Mistrust of any ''wrong number'' claim is standard procedure at all the rogue collection agencies. You will never get satisfaction from a verbal request, and number blocking turns into an arms race you will lose. I see others are reporting possible business names. You need that and a working mailing address to send a ''cease communication'' notice via USPS Certified with return card. This is the method promoted by the FTC and many consumer watchdogs, and the only way to set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their risk of a lawsuit from you.

I continue to get a call from this number say i have a bad check or check fraud. I would like it to stop. I called back they said they were a law firm and you could tell it was a call center. I requested the name of the person, Dennis Owens and the firm was World Wide law firm. I informed them I would be turning this over to the Atty General and they hung up on me. Twice?

I get this call daily for someone whose name isn't remotely like mine.  I've had my phone number for two years.  I have called 214-550-5041 three times to tell them to take my number off their list because I'm not Geraldine Martin.  Every time I've told them they have the wrong number and to stop calling me, they say "okay" and then the calls keep coming!  I am so frustrated I can't get it to stop.  Who do I report these people to!?

Both phones rang with an "out of area" number. Answered and pressed 9 (or I could have called back on this number). Spoke to a "law firm" (Worldwide Recovery). Asked them to stop calling and send the paperwork (which I guess they don't have or they would have done that already).

This comes over as an unknown number leaves a message as bank or check fraud. I was tired of the calls. When they told me it was a loan advance or a capital one. I said sorry I have never taken a loan and capital one is paid. They then informed me I will be receiving papers to appear in court in 7-10 business days. oh yay.

Don't allow hostile strangers to confuse extortion with debt collection. Consumer debts in America, including payday loans, are a *CIVIL* matter, not criminal! Honest debt collectors do not typically send their claims straight to a judge, and they don't take your ransom money to broker quick deals with so-called "process servers". There are no secretive "arbitrators", "mediators", or "prelitigation specialists", only sweaty criminals with a script full of bullying remarks. Lawful debt collection is a process, not an ambush, and you are due a chance at each stage to raise a dispute. The agents' horrid threats are empty and their conduct is illegal. Do not reward lawbreakers with your money. Challenge them always, sue them if you can.

Debt Collector
This is a collection agency that uses the Lexus-Nexus search system (a pay for use search) to try & locate old debt that they have purchased for pennies on the dollar.  The L-N search comes up with 'possible' matches based on initials and spelling of last name.  If you have a common name, you get a LOT of these.  If you have just an initial in the phone book, you're gonna get some as well.
All I have to say is "Gwendoline, pay your damn bills!  I've been getting YOUR collection calls for 10 years now!"
