Call your local law enforcement immediately. Don't use 911 unless you're feeling scared or uneasy. Use the non-emergency number. Explain the situation to the dispatcher or whoever takes the call. If you're sure that your vehicle has been paid off, do NOT call the number on the card that was left. Ask your local law enforcement to have an officer respond to your address. When that officer appears, tell him/her that you are concerned & that you are feeling threatened. Someone has come on to your property, uninvited, at night & has left a card at your door without attempting to announce themselves. Tell the officer that you observed a man & a woman leave in a tow truck. Give the officer that card. I can tell you right now that a plain, white business card stating "Investigation Division" is going to set off alarm bells inside that officers head. He, or she, is going to call that number right away or will turn it over to a detective that will. Law enforcement people do not take lightly people that try to bluster with attempts to imply that they might be affiliated with them. Even if the attempt might be considered legal.
Let your local law enforcement straighten this matter out. If your vehicle is paid off it may be a simple case of a misunderstanding. An over zealous repo. clown may have screwed up or over stepped his bounds. If that's the case, his methods will now be noted by your local authorities. My guess is that the "Tow Couple" were looking for a vehicle that was not yours but was thought to be known by you. An ex, a neighbor, a friend might be looking at a repossession. If that's the case it still does not justify these actions from a repo. agent. Do not fail to make a report. The card, its wording & its delivery are enough to tweak the interest of any bored DA.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Lady, I don't know exactly what message you're trying to convey. Around here if someone comes on to your porch in the middle of the night with a flashlight you yell "Who the f*** are you?". He doesn't answer, he won't be turning your door-knob; much less coming in or leaving a card. And that's only if my daughter was doin' the thinking. Me? He wouldn't have even made it to the porch. BTW? What kind of worthless dogs' you got anyway?

They came to my house Friday night, 9/21/12. My dogs were going nuts. It was like 11 o'clock at night. My daughter got up and went to see what was going on. She saw a man moving on the porch with a flashlight. She got behind the doorframe so he couldn't see her and she thought he was going to break in. He even turned the doorknob to open the door. He never came in, but he put a card in the door where he had opened it. These people are dangerous and nuts. They are violating all kinds of laws. I have filed a report.

I contacted "Tye" at the email listed. They never returned my email. I researched their suit number at the Dallas County Courts website by case number and defendants name. There is no case number nor suit against Night Owl Recovery, Steven Davis, Dallas Investigations or NOR.

DO NOT GIVE THIS PERSON INFO WHATSOEVER! They are obviously part of this shady company.

My kids came home and found what they thought to be a police investigators card on the door.  Scared them (not sure why) but when I researched it appears to be this same company.  My fear is that these people impersonating police will try to approach our children and mislead them into believing they are law enforcement.  What my husband and I can't figure out is who or what they are looking for.

These folks recently appeared at our doorstep trying to repossess a car and they impersonated themselves as law enforcement officers, which is a felony.  The lady told us several times that she worked for "Dallas County" and she was an "Investigator" and that if we didn't tell her where the car was, she would immediately have a constable come and take us to jail.  She repeatedly asserted that she was a "Dallas County Investigator" and even gave us a business card with a gold badge printed on it, intended to deceive us into believing she was a legitimate law enforcement officer.  Finally, after about 30 minutes of wasted time, I ordered her to leave my property and never come back.  I called the Mesquite Police Department immediately and they said it was a "civil matter".  I called the number on the business card and ended up speaking to a supervisor named Gretchen, who gave me the name and cell phone number of the owner - his name is Steven Glenn Davis and his cell phone number is 469-387-7563.  Oh, and by the way, "Dallas County Investigations" is a ghost company.  It does not exist.  It is not registered anywhere.  The real name of the company is Nightowl Recovery, Inc. and their new office is located at 2513 North U.S. Hwy. 175, Seagoville, Texas.  We decided to sue them, so we filed a suit in the 116th Judicial District Court in Dallas County, Texas.  The owner, Steven Davis, as well as Dallas County Investigations and Nightowl Recovery, Inc., dodged the Sheriff's Deputy for two week who was trying to serve him his court papers.  Finally, I had to go before the Judge and ask for approval for Substitute Service, and she approved it, and the Sheriff's Deputy was able to serve him by taping a copy of everything to the front door of his home in Garland.  Steven Davis' home address is 2510 Valley Creek Drive, Garland, Texas 75040.  As of this moment, we have a hearing scheduled for early March for a Motion for Default Judgment and we are asking for $20,000.  As far as the lady who actually came by our house, she gave us a false name and has since disappeared.  I have been unable to locate her - but I am still trying.  If you have any questions - or would like to discuss this case - or how you can file your own case against these scumbags, please contact me at landyconner@gmail.com - but if they appear at your door, do NOT be intimidated and call your local police immediately and demand that they send an officer out.

Left a business card stuck to my door. My wife was home and saw the guy leave in a tow truck via the living room window.
We have two cars that are fully paid off, and one that is paid via payroll deduction automatically by my credit union. So we have no idea why they would be bothering us. The business card looks liked it was printed on a color inkjet printer.

Wife has received several calls and folks stating to be with Dallas Investigations and asking to call back to 214.614.0303 and it says the number is not in service. I have read many complaints that they are a collections agency or repo company. Really odd since I own all my cars out right and have the titles and I own my home and have zero dept. I am having our families attorny track it down and hope to slap a harassment suit on them. If you too have this issue please post.

Someone from this company has been calling relative from all over the country. They are not that smart, as I am currently in the same location as them. Geesh, Facebook anyone? So, I told my relatives to tell them to check the internet. I don't own any payments on cars, I bought all mine with cash in clear title. Appreciate all the info about the State requirements above. Can't wait to see how this rolls!

This company is working illegally under the state of Texas laws by calling themselves "investigators".  I looked the company up on the state website under the Private Security Bureau where ALL investigation companies MUST be registered and they are not licensed.  I also called the number above and the phone message said it is an investigation company.  I also spoke with someone at that company and they actually stated they did NOT have a state license as investigators.  I have reported them to the state as illegally representing themselves as investigators in an investigation company.  Anyone who has one of their cards that has the person's name and has the title investigator by it needs to fax a copy of the business card along with the statement that they are not licensed but stated they were investigators to the Texas Private Security Bureau (512) 424-7726 (Fax).  This will get THEM investigated and shut down.  Also need to contact Dallas County Police Dept and report them along with any address that is on their business card.

I got the same card with case number, address, phone number.
When I called the number it actually sounded kind of official and they had directory service and operators as well. I had given them my address, case number(from the card) and last name. Could they be using it for a fraud after recording it? I might need to report it to the police too and find out what they really are.

Received the same card post in my front door along with a case # noted on the card.  Attempted to contact the supposed investigator listed on the card, no answer of course.  The badge looks fake and the address and zip does not match my search results.  I will report this to the Dallas Police Department for additional information.  I will be reporting this to the Fraud Investigation Unit.

Taped card to front door with case number written on it. I did a reverse phone number look up on White Pages and the phone number is registered to someone in Irving, which is not in Dallas County. Also, Google search of the phone number brought me to this page. In addition, I live in a county East of Dallas, so Dallas County is not their jurisdiction. Card looks official, but obviously not. I will be reporting to my local law enforcement.
