So, I just called from a landline and got an automated menu asking me to enter in my 16 digit credit card number! CLEARLY A SCAM!!!!

This is fraud and a scam. Whomever obtained access to the Sprint numbers is attempting to Phish for information in order to steal money from Resource One members. You can go to www.r1cu.org to see their message. As I understand, Sprint knows about this and will refund the TM charges.
Ive been getting the same thing 2009-07-17 21:54:09 Unknown
Ive been getting the same thing all day from various Phone numbers.. I dont think Sprint or anyone else sold our numbers to anyone.. This is basically Phishing taken to a different direction. They use email programs to mass bomb sprint messages..You can actually send emails to "Any" Cellphone as txt using the following formula
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Virgin Mobile: phonenumber@vmobl.com
Cingular: phonenumber@cingularme.com
Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
More than likely the program is mass bombing 555-555-1212, then 555-555-1213, 555-555,1214 sequentially etc which is the way Spammers work for emails normally.
Anyways.. Yes.. They are annoying.. and Yes Ive reported them :P I just wish they would "Stop".. Sadly.. not sure how easy its going to be to block out.

I was about to actually go up there, there is one in my area so I was going to even show them what it said as well. CommonSensTech, maybe we were all checking to see if it wasn't just us getting it, maybe others got it as well, thats why I checked. I wanted to make sure it was either a scam or something or I would call and say they were texting the wrong person.

I JUST received my "second warning" (mind you, seven texts later) as the rest of you, I do not have an account with them and now they are saying call 4086547683 but before they used the 214 number then 3232123151 so I dunno. I wonder if Sprint doesn't have the best privacy policy in the world. I don't think they would sell our numbers out, would they? But in any case, this is about to stop. Even if I change my service.

Wow lots of people getting this... you would think someone would just check Resource One's website or call them and see if something is going on
https://www.r1cu.org/ (Hint: right side of page)
Alert!
Resource One will never contact you via text messaging for any reason. If you receive a text message prompting you to call, please notify us immediately at 214-319-3100.

I have received 3 text messages saying Resource One has de-activated my debit card. Of course I've never had a Resource One debit card, but it's irritating getting repeated messages.
janet 2009-07-17 04:20:30 Unknown
4086547683 is the number. I don't have any such account or debit card!
VE 2009-07-17 00:15:23 Unknown
THIS IS FRAUDULENT AND RESOURCE ONE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. A RANDOM LIST OF NUMBERS FROM SPRINT WERE TARGETED AND SCAMMERS ARE TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO CALL AND GIVE INFORMATION. THEY WERE SENT TO MOSTLY PEOPLE WITHOUT RESOURCE ONE ACCOUNTS. THEY DIDN'T STEAL ANYONE'S IDENTITY AND AGAIN ITS NOT RESOURCE ONE WHO IS SENDING THIS MESSAGE. THEY DO NOT COMMUNICATE THIS WAY TO THEIR MEMBERS/CUSTOMERS!! NO FINANCIAL INSTITUTION DOES!!

I received two text messages to call two different numbers. I researched 214-644-0103 on the reverse look up in the white pages and found the number to be from a landline in Allen, TX. The google map showing where the number resides has no name but the streets around it are Rockcrssing Ln, Wheat Ridge Rd, Rivergrove Rd and Sagebrush Lane. You can purchase the name and address of the phone number on Intel, which I did not do. The second number is 323-212-3151, this one is a cell phone registered in Los Angeles, CA.

Just received two texts with same message. One was from 800@resource.com to call 214-644-0103 and the other was from wspgmi@r1cu.org to call 323-212-3151.

I called my local police dept, but they said they could not do anything unless a crime was committed - i.e., my identity or bank info was stolen. Since I didn't give anyone my card info, there's nothing they would do . . . I did file complaints online at the FCC and Federal Trade Commission websites.

Yes, it's a scam. Contact the FTC and your local police department. People are working on it.

I have received two text messages in the last two days. They try to look like they are coming from Sprint (qmyvrs@smtp.sprint.com) or from Resource One (800@resource.com). However, they are actually coming from text number 6245. I'm going to delete the messages and hope Sprint puts a stop to this.
Robert 2009-07-16 14:56:29 Unknown
I called the # from the same cellphone that they sent the text to. After a few busy signals, I got an automated annoucement "your debit card has been deactivated due to fraud. press 1 to reinstate". JD was prompted for a # because he called from an unknown number.
I don't think this is a scam, but I think someone used a range of sprint cell #'s as the contact for bogus debit cards. It's fraud, but not fraud at resourceone.
I blocked their text messages via the sprint web page. I tried to report the fraud, but the only option was to activate (which I didn't do).
Brenda 2009-07-16 14:34:54 Unknown
I have received 2 in the last 2 days! I reported them to the Federal Trade Commission and the Attorney Generals Office.
MN 2009-07-16 14:33:09 Unknown
I received the same text message yesterday and today. I don't have any business with this company. When I called the (214) 644-0107 telephone number, it rings busy. SCAM.
Karen 2009-07-16 14:25:30 Unknown
