just got a call from this # at work and it was a recording saying, "there has been a complaint filed against your social security number, please press one to speak to legal represention" over and over. I did not press one, I just hung up. Looking at all the other posts I dont know how they got my number as I have never had a payday loan.

I got a call from this Number and I called it back. The guy came across very strong and threatened that there would be charges filed against me and one of my references with the County courts for a payday loan. he said if i didnt pay today his client will proceed and there will be a warrant for my arrest as of the next day. He also said the sheriff would be serving me at my work place. Is this even possible? Can they put a warrant out for my arrest on a payday loan?

here's another good trick. if you have unlimited calling, just keep calling them over and over and over again. tie up their phone lines. they can't do anything to you about it. if they threaten you with going to the police for harassment or anything like that, it's complete crap. they can't go to the cops because they're running a scam and would end up giving themselves away. that will get the calls to stop for sure.

this is a complete SCAM! i just called them on behalf of a potential client and they refuse to give a mailing address for payment. they refuse to provide proof of the debt in writing. here are some red flags for those of you out there who may be getting calls and unsure if they're legit collectors or not. 1) they won't tell you who they are without you prying it from them 2) they won't give you a physical mailing address 3) they will only accept CC or check payment over the phone, immediately 4) they make outrageous claims like the "Sheriff" is going to come arrest you at work. many legit collectors will sometimes use these tactics but the scammers use them all and go way overboard. the best thing to do is tell them w/o any proof of who they are and that they are collecting on a legit debt, you consider them to be a scam and will NEVER pay them a dime. this is when the calls will stop as they realize you have figured out their scam and will have to move on to their next victim.

this is a payday collections. they try to scam you into thinking its the city of dallas and they have a warrant out for your arrest for hot checks. it is not the city of dallas. if it was they just come to your house or send you a summons in the mail, they dont call you on the phone. the dallas county constables office is in oak cliff not in downtown dallas. if you had a payday loan somewhere and didnt pay it then this is what it is, they are just trying to scare you into paying them.
