Do not give them the time of day.  They're a scam.  The second he asked if I was a "Microsoft PC user" I hung up on him.

This phone number has called us, off and on, for several months.  On the Caller ID it appears as J2 Global Communications.  They ask (by name) for either myself or my husband.  I spoke to them once, and they informed me they were calling from Windows because my computer had a virus.  I told the man I was very surprised Windows would be calling - I thought they were owned and operated by Microsoft.  I asked him which virus I allegedly had.  He stated he needed my IP to verify which virus it was.  When asked how they knew my computer had a virus, he told me my network connection was sending 'pings' to their server.  I told him I was very surprised Windows had its own server, being that it was a software program.  I asked him how the server received pings identifying it was my computer - without having my actual IP address.  The guy on the phone knew he was caught, and he actually laughed at the absurdity.
Today they called again, this time asking for my husband.

I believe these companies set up fake sweepstakes ('Enter to Win xyz') on FB, and this is how they collect names and phone numbers.

Definitely a scam.  I kept asking "What kind of computer do I have?"  They kept going on about how they weren't a scam they were "fix my computer dude dot com." He really wanted me to tell him my name.  I still asked "What kind of computer do I have?"  Finally I called the guy an a**hole and told him I have a Mac and that they all belonged in jail.  They hung up on me.

I received a call from 214-889-9910. Young man sounded east indian. Claimed he was calling From Microsoft because my computer was severly infected with a virus that was causing Windows Update to not run correctly and that as a result I was not getting all my security updates. Said that the built in systems in Wiindows alreted Microsoft.

Wanted me to go to my computer, turn it on and pres the Windows Logo Key. Seem surprised when I told him the computer was already on. Didn't know what to say when I told him my keybord has no windows key( IBM Compatable 122 Key Terminal Keyboard). Then he asked me to instead open Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome depended on what I used. At wich point I hung up and contacted Microsoft Tech Desk via the Web Portal.

The Microsoft Tech confirmed that it was a scam. That even when you report a problem via Problem Reports and Solutions built into Windows, that the system does not collect personal info that would allow them to contact you (not even if you have a Microsoft Account, or a Windows Phone)

this is a complete scam to try and take over your computer, they say they are from Microsoft windows, just to let you know I heard ClarkHoward.com talk about this scam on the radio... I would of hung up anyway but good to be informed...   Clark says they want to take control of your computer then if you are a complete idiot and let them they load viruses and hold your computer hostage and demand money to release it and then make your life miserable....    these people should be arrested and thrown in jail for 20 years and spit on...
NEVER ever fall for anything.... basically any call now from anyone is a scam - treat it as such and you will be okay and these full time loosers can end up in the street begging for a slice of bread... How dare they do this to people,,, those JERKS!!!
CALLER ID SAYS   J2 GLOBAL COMMU   - please tell them to kiss your A@@ - what BS

This number just called my cell phone.  When I answered, they hung up.  I have no idea who these people are, why they're calling, or how they got my number.  The only people who have my cell number are my family, close friends, and my work.

Prank Call
Received calls from number with no message for a few days. Finally answered a call. Female operator claimed to be from Microsoft Tech Support and wished to tell me that my Windows PC was not accepting an update. Poor script reading.

I'm an Windows Certified Professional so I felt I'd provide some rope to hang herself with. I asked which PC specifically. She was instantly lost. I told her I was an IT specialist and I would need to know which of my "Windows PCs" was acting up.

Hung up.

Clearly a ruse. These people will steal your s*** if you let them. There needs to be a way to bring sanctions against such people and the telecoms that support them.

I received the same call - they told me to go to my computer and give me the IP address -- I told him to get lost - they explained I had severe viruses -- well bad thing is that my room mate is an IT administrator/engineer and the network at my house is super secure - they stated that their "Microsoft server"  gets pinged by my computer altering about viruses --- well my PC"S are not running through their network -- It's a scam to get your info and IP Address that will most likely be used for miscief --- I did not understand the name of the company and could hardly understand the guy -- I think from India -- requested a supervisor just to mess with them -- same story -- Pretty bold of them - as soon as the supervisor realized that I knew my computer stuff he just hung up on me - tried calling them back -- got a NUMBER NOT IN SERVICE -...Ticks me off that they might be able to scam people - please be aware when receiving a call from this number and tell them to get lost!...

Have been receiving multiple call from 214-889-9910.  They never leave a message so I tred to call back and I get the "this number is not in use" message.  So today I decide to answer and sure enough it's "Microsoft Technical Support Center".  Seriously!!  The guy was obviously reading a script and could barely speak english.

He said there was a problem with my Windows....sure there is buddy. He was persistant and so was I.  I asked if there was a problem he should be able to tell me which version I was using and then I asked to speak to a supervisor.  Needless to say I ended up hanging up on him and block the number from all aof my phones!

If these guys are from Microsoft (probably not, I figure), they are extremely unprofessional and must really be hard up for business. I have two questions: 1. Why are they calling me (I have and iPad 2)? 2. Why are they not leaving messages regardless? P. S. I was called six (6) times in the last two (2) days
