With easily obtained service through a number of internet-based (VOIP) telephone service providers, you can enter any number you want to be displayed on Caller ID. It's not unusual for tetemarketers to intentionally display false information to make it harder to identify them.

They also can route the calls through foreign countries with little or no extra cost before the call reaches you. This makes it almost impossible for enforcement agencies to identify the actual caller, since they have no legal authority outside the U.S.

Bottom line is that honest people follow the No Call Laws and dishonest people have easy access to ways to hide who they are and where they are located. Until the U.S. Congress changes the law to hold telephone companies in the U.S. responsible for assisting this fraud (and making money), nothing will change.

I got a call from this local 215 Philly area number earlier today (I wasn't here, no message left)
And I AM a PECO customer.  Shady scumbags...All I can say.

I called this number back and got 'Sorry, this number is not in service Please check the number you are dialing' or something like that. How can a number be out of service when they just called me and I just called that number back? If this is the PECO scam, I am very angry because I answered this call yesterday and told them to take me off the list and the woman said she would. My next step - the better business bureau!!

215-213-3234 has been calling here frequently - we don't answer and the call comes up several times a day.

Ridiculous!!!         How can they call me on a number that does not exist?????/ My mind is boggled.   I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST...........BOTTOM LINE:  WHO CARES?

Verizon seems to support this, as when I talked to an operator from 00, he said, "well, report it locally" Are they behind this???  I even tried to report it in Spanish, but, well, offices are closed at this time................  Guess they know when to call.

 I,for one, would like to call them all relentlessly at 3am with the same message.  How do they do this??  And who, in their right mind, would ever go along with their IDIOCY??!

6/19/12 received a call and answered but nobody there.  Probably just another of the telemarketers for the new electric service/energy provider bonanza here.  Mindless, harrassing, low end telemarketing is the primary way they have chosen to try to get customers. Somebody should set up a website where the home, office and cell phone numbers of the CEO's of these friggin companies are listed when you punch in the telephone numbers they or their telemarketing contractors use to call people mindlessly even after you tell them you have no interest in what they say they have to sell.  Who beyond a select group of idiots would trust a business that operates that way.

Just got a call from this number regarding my PECO bill.  I hung up since I don't use PECO for electric.  It came up as "Cell Phone, PA" on caller ID.  I guess that is the new way to do telemarketing.

This shows from USA Mobility Wireless, Inc. which is Providing One-Way and Two-Way Wireless Messaging.   Very strange.

Just got a call from this number and didn't pick up because in the past week I have gotten 2 other calls from a 215-213-8588 and a 215-213-4244 all pushing Electric Service but all three numbers show up for a Cell Phone out of Levittown, PA.  I have all three blocked but this is no coincidence that all three numbers are from the same area.  Beware of this!  I'm reporting all to the DO NOT CALL Website.

Got a call on 6/19/12 at 1:55pm. It just hung up in around 10 seconds or so after I answered. Tried to call back and to no surprise it's an invalid number.

said number was not in service, but they were able to call me from it???
