This number claims to be PGW but when I pushed 1  to talk to someone or whatever it was, automatic message said it was an invalid entry.

This number never answers when I answer. Nor do they leave a message.

This number called me almost everyday and said PGW needs me to call back to them directly by another number 215-235-1777, neither of these two numbers could be found in PGW website...I never tried to call the number they left for me.

I got a call from them too. Somebody with the city or pgw better check into this immediately.

I don't even live in PA and I'm getting these calls.  When I do pick it up I get a message about it being something to do with a gas bill and/or problem with the service.  Either way, it's an annoying call made in error.

This number calls me all the time. I have no idea who it is, as I never answer unknown numbers. They never leave a message.

Received a call about my gas meter also.  PGW would call direct if this was legitimate.  I want to report this number as a fraud.

HAVE CALLED THIS NUMBER BACK AND "IT" ADVISED THEY WOULD TAKE MY # OFF SYSTEM....SO MUCH FOR THAT, 2 NEW CALLS TODAY....DON'T HAVE ANY CONNECTION WITH PHILA GAS WORKS......DON'T EVEN LIVE IN THE CITY

I get this call A LOT - just looked at my Missed Calls list & there are 7 out of 20 from this number since 1/27/12!!

Just got a phone call from this number. I hung up when I heard the recording "Please hold."

it's a call to set up a time to change the gas meter.  no idea why that is necessary.  never heard of such a thing.  if they need to do this i would think they would send a formal notice to PGW customers.

These idiots have called me over and over-using my phone minutes to hold for "an important message." Once I called the number back, talked to someone who told me that "your meter is full" and that they need to change it out. How in the hell does a meter get full? Told them that the meter was in the basement and I did not have a key, call my landlord. They refused to call my landlord, said that I was responsible for setting up the appointment with him.

Called my landlord and we both had a good laugh about the "full meter." He said they would have to call him or they weren't getting in the basement. Now that number is calling me over and over and over...

Interesting. This person calls all the time, the message is always cut off. But it is very interesting to find out it's about a meter change in most cases. I don't have a meter, as my condo is in my boyfriends name. Sounds shady.

I also got a call from 215-236-0500. A recording says to hold for an important message several times, then hung up on me.

Just got a call from 215-236-0500 that told me to hold for "an important message" about half a dozen times, then disconnected.

yeah they just called me & left a message that said something about printing out an application for liheap from the pgw website (giving me the website to PGW)... and then it cut off. hmmmm?

well I still dont know if its legit or not since I am trying to apply for liheap, but I already sent out my app & stuff, so i dunno.

Just got a call now, a few minutes before 5pm on a thursday.

it was a recording saying "please hold i have an important message for you" twice then hung up..

but reading this i remember a few weeks ago the same number called me telling me that my meter needed changing..but i live in an apartment building so i gave them my landlords information..

I got a call from this #. I don't live in PA. And I have already had a meter change 3 years ago. Hmmmm?

Got a call from this number and I don't deal with PGW at all.  They called twice and left no message.

I got a call from this number telling me that I need a meter exchange. I called PGW back the following week and the operator I spoke with told me that I WASN'T in fact due for a meter change. I am glad that I did not schedule an appointment with the first man I spoke with. I am suspicious that this is a fake call.

Yep, meter reading device change. That's what the message they left me said.

I got the same call, automated and this Saturday morning. My bill is also up to date, so I'm gathering it's some type of screw up.

I received a call from this number early on a Saturday morning but missed it since I was barely woken up by the ringing phone.  No messages were left, and PGW's offices are closed on Saturdays.  All indications are I need to wait until Monday to find out who called me and why.  The big question is -- if they're closed, who's there making phone calls to paying customers on the weekends?  My bill IS up to date (confirmed through their automated system).

Has anyone else experienced this?  What was the reason for the call?
