Calls repeatedly, no message.

A lady with an accent, demanded to know my name before saying what she was calling about. When I wouldn't give it to her she hung up on me.

Caller ID said Jenkinstown PA, I answered, there was silence, then a recorded "good-bye", click.

Caller ID showed Pennsylvania Call.  The caller had a really hard time getting her sentences out and clearly English was not her first language.  Throw in a dash of boiler room noise too.  She asked for the owner by first name only which is a huge red flag and when I asked her what company she was calling from she kept asking for my name.  When I told her she is not getting any information from me without answering my questions first, she finally said she was calling local businesses for health insurance quotes.  Interesting how Illinois is considered local when the caller ID shows Pennsylvania.    

Caller ID says "out of area".  Lady is looking for "the owner".  She is heavily accented and tries to tell me she is with US Health Advisors.  I have her repeat it 3 times before I can understand her.  She is calling about health insurance quotes.  When I tell her we are not interested, (none of us can afford the ACA) she starts to argue with me.  Geesh, It's bad enough that between all these bottom feeders, the phone rings all day long and then this one wants to argue!  

Here is the cold truth about the DNC list. When you sign up your information is placed on the list. Said list is then sent to telemarketing firms. That list will find its way to bad players and they have a confirmed list of active numbers.

Have had several calls from this number.  You can block it and they call as soon as it is unblocked.  Some type of scam.

I've considered using the air horn response, too. However, I'm pretty sure the person who gets blasted on the other end of the phone will sue me?and win. Using the air horn is not something you can claim you did by accident. If they can show that you knew it could harm their hearing, they can & will sue you for hearing loss and probably life-long mental/emotional problems from fear of using a telephone. Unfortunately, that's the world we live in today.

Instead, I've been looking for some kind of electronic device that will beep back a signal to the trolling auto-calls that will automatically take me off their lists. After all, it's electronics on both ends of the line. That should be possible. Years ago, there was a device that you could use to send phone beeps through the speaker part of a phone and cause havoc on the other end. I don't want to cause havoc, I just want the calls to stop.

The law regarding telemarketing has recently changed and it wasn't necessarily communicated to the public.  I found this article in the Hartford Courant interesting:

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.

This call had a recording saying "goodbye", then it hung up. I listed it as a prank call because "scam call" or "telescammer" are not available choices.

I just got one too i never answer if i dont know the nummber or if it block ..only answer in they r in my contacts screw the rest

Called my cell, I didn't answer.  Caller did not leave a message. 2nd time this month

Did not answer the call and glad after reading all of the negative posts. Really, wouldn't a real job with income be easier for everyone?

My husband and I each got a call on our individual cell numbers within hours of each other. Indian woman claiming we had won a $25000 home makeover. We are Verizon customers and wonder if our numbers were sold by Verizon or stolen from Verizon as it is such a coincidence that the calls were received so close together. This website has complaints dated from October, I wonder how long before someone can take legal action?

Called cell first time said I won 100 gift card from walmart called again said I won 25,000 home makeover then gave address and time to be at direct buy. Then asked about my income when asked the reason she hung up rude and full of it

You actually think that you are leaving a message for these people? You can't tell by the name of this site (who calls me) that it's a complaint site to report which numbers are calling? ROFLMAO (And, like you, I'm imagining that you are receiving this directly because everything we post here automatically goes right to the person we're talking to.) RME

As for the true purpose of this site, I have also received numerous calls from this number. I answered it once and had someone with a very heavy Asian accent talking to me about my prescriptions. I was actually trying hard to understand what she was talking abut so that I could clearly tell them they had no right to call a "do not call" listed number, but she ended up giving up on getting me to understand what she was saying and hanging up. Works for me, but they continue to call. Still, they are trying to sound like they have personal knowledge of your actual prescriptions and called me by name.

THESE MORONS DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU. THEY WANT YOU TO ANSWER SO THEY CAN HAVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO SELL TO OTHERS. IF YOU ANSWER, THEY PUT YOU ON THEIR LIST. THESE ARE THE LOWEST SCUM OF THE EARTH.

Same here, Indian accent asked for June, I said wrong number, and he said hold on as I was hanging up on him!

They do investigate these calls but there are so many violations and only one investigator. All the money from this department is partially funding Obamacare so the staff is limited.

Hi I posted earlier about.my initial experience.....just.checking back in to report she or anyone else from.the boston number has not tried to contact me again. As I said in earlier post, I told.her I was a cop and was tracing her location ...haven't had a problem since ..good luck all

Called me at 7:30pm. Didn't leave a message. Didn't call back.

Called my cell phone and a man with incredibly broken and heavily accented English broke in and asked me, I think, how I was doing.  I responded, "A hell of a lot better than you are" and hung-up.

This number called me today claiming I won 25,000 dollars. It's a bunch of bull!

Nearly the same thing happened to me. Direct Buy blah blah blah -`pauses between words. Go to this location. After that I hung up on her. At first I felt bad but google got rid of that feeling. I don't have the time to report these people, only hope that they'll stop.

DoNotCall only works with legitimate companies. Scammers are already trying to break the law, so they don't care if your number is there or not. They'll have left town by the time anyone ever tries to hold them accountable. If you try to tell these people you're on the DNC list, they hang up before you get the entire phrase out.

I need this Panasonic model. My two year old Panasonic KX-TGA106 only blocks 30 calls and I think I maxed that out a few months after I bought it. I have to look up old BS numbers, notice if I get any recent calls from them...if notI remove it, then add a new annoying number.

Rec'd a call today.  The lady had an accent.  Told me I was on the finalist list for a $25,000 home make over.  I listened for about a minute & then hung up.  I blocked the number.

Number keeps calling and hanging up when I answer....
