I called the number back, it is Firefighters Charitable Fund

I said hello-- and this guy starts to talk like I'm not there--
"I understand if you can't help out right now-- thank you so much and have a great day."

DUH_- I tried to interrupt, saying wait a sec.....but it was like he wanted someone who was on his end to THINK I said 'no' to him.

weird. then he hung up.

I received a call from this number. No one on the line.

I answered the call, a male voice asked for me by name, "Walt".   I said "yes" and then they immediately hung up.

Pretty spooky.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the foundation. Also, there?s information on www.ffcf.org, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
This Foundation is doing a lot of really great things for Fire Fighters nationwide and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good. The foundation helps with funding for volunteer fire departments, toward first aid and fire prevention education as well as other outreach programs.

Received a call today (3/15).  Caller ID said FFCF.  Did not answer it.  They left no message on voicemail.

ALOT OF SCAMMERS OUT THERE ON THIS TYPE OF CHARITY  -

If you wish to donate - contact your LOCAL fire dept - they will have the LEGITMATE charity info and donate DIRECTLY TO THEM - not via a telemarketer.

If you KNOW they are using telemarketers - TELL THEM TO STOP USING THEM!

Consumers have to walk something of a tightrope this time of year. Holidays are always an expensive time, yet many want to support charities and worthwhile causes. But the last thing you want to do is have your contribution line the pockets of the solicitor.
In Oregon, Attorney General John Kroger unveiled a list of Oregon's 20 Worst Charities and offered tips to consumers on how to donate wisely.
"In the middle of a recession, it is more important than ever that generous Oregonians make charitable contributions to organizations that help veterans and others who are in need," Kroger said. "It is critical, however, that people donate wisely. Although many charities do great work, some are little more than scams with good-sounding names but that do little to actually help the people they claim to support."
State law requires charities to file periodic financial reports with the Oregon Department of Justice disclosing how much money the organization raised and how the funds were spent. The Department's Charitable Activities Section has identified 20 organizations (see attached) that spent more than 75 percent of the donations they collected on administrative costs and professional fundraising.
While guidelines issued by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) suggest that charitable organizations should spend at least 65 percent of their funds on charitable programs, every charity on the Department of Justice's list devoted less than 25 percent of their expenditures on charitable program activities.
One organization near the top of the list, Shiloh International Ministries, solicits donations to provide medical necessities and other support to needy children, veterans, and homeless persons. According to the most recent financial filings, the California-based nonprofit spent an average of $1,023,215 per year, 96.35 percent of which went to management and fundraising.
Kentucky concerns
Unscrupulous charity solicitations are not just confined to one area of the country. With double-digit unemployment rates in Kentucky, for example, more Kentucky families are in need of a helping hand this holiday season.
Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway says people who give to a charity should give wisely. Unfortunately, he says, there are unscrupulous or even fraudulent charities that prey on the generosity of Kentuckians.
"Every dollar donated to a reputable charity can make a difference in the life of someone who may be struggling to put food on the table or clothe a child," Conway said. "Irresponsible or fraudulent charities not only take advantage of the kindness of hard-working Kentuckians, they deprive those who need our help. Before you decide whether a charity deserves your donation, gather as much information as possible to make sure the charity is not a scam and that your donation reaches someone in need."
Both Kroger and Conway offer these tips for wise holiday giving:
? Donate to charities you know and trust.
? Be cautious of sound-alike charities and solicitors unable to answer questions.
? Always ask what percentage of your dollar goes to the cause.
? Don't be pressured into making a donation.
? Ask if the charity or solicitor is registered with the Office of the Attorney General.

stop calling this number, its on the do not call list

The call comes from FFCF, Firefighters Charitable Foundation.  They are legit, but they are a shady charitable organization.  According to Examiner.com, nearly 84% of the funds they collect go to administration and fund generating costs, less than 11% actually goes to firefighters.

Got a call from 215-383-5666 this morning. (3/15)   I said "hello" and they hung up.  Caller ID said FFCF.

On Mon 3/15 at 9:45 AM call from 25-383-5666. Phone rang 3 times I did not pick up and they did not leave a message.  My caller id said FFCF........after reading other posts sounds like some kind of scam artist.  I hope they are not checking to see if someone is home...Sounds as maybe they took the weekend off.............

Got the same call. Asked to review my address and personal information. Threw a curve by asking them to read me what they had........CLICK!

Just got this call...12:35pm... Caller asked for the "lady of the House" when I said she wasn't present... he immedietly hung up.. *69'd it and got the number... no caler ID from it.

Got a call a few minutes ago from 383-5666. Caller ID said FFCF. When I answered and heard the delay (due to the autodialer they use), I hung up.

Same here.  The caller read the script about donating to the firefighters and asked if I was interested.  I said I definitely support firefighters because my brother's one.  The caller responded by hanging up with no comment.

There has to be a way to stop these people.

Got a call from this number this morning.  The person said he was Ryan calling on behalf of a firefighters fund and asked to speak to me.  When I said that I was the person he asked for, he snickered and told me he would call back later.  I asked who it really was, then he told me to have a nice day and "bye-bye."  It was unsettling.

WIFE GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER STATING THEY ARE THE FIREFIGHTER CHARITABLE DONATION FOUNDATION REQUESTING A DONATION. SOON AS MY WIFE STATED THAT SHE NEEDED TO SPEAK TO ME FIRST AS I AM A FIREFIGHTER THEY HUNG UP

Got a call this morning at home. Immediately hung up when they found out the person they asked for was not at home.
