The new game now (apparently) is the sc/spammers can create an ID that misleads. In other words, the "phone number" that appears on Caller ID is merely a text label and not a location.  My favorite incoming spammer # now is a Call ID # that is one character shy of my own phone number, with the initials "C C".  I guess I'm supposed to be fooled that the call appears to be coming from same area code, same 3 digit prefix, and almost identical suffix.  Reaching, my friends. Scammers & spammers are desperately reaching.

recieved call, didnt answer, no message....this has been happening since May started...

Called twice exactly an hour apart, left no message. Blocking number.

they said it was DSU in south dakota but the area code in Pennsylvania probably a scam and they wanted some personal info.  colleges send emails and letters.  they have your email and grad year and they just send you stuff, they dont ask you for your info as they already have it

Said they were from Dakota State University and called to verify some info of mine.  It is a scam as the area code is for Pennsylvania

Far credit collection agency

I answered and spoke to a woman who listed a credit card company I had never even heard of before and said they were erasing all the interest from the account and wanted only $500 from me. I asked again her agency name and the original creditor and told her I had my credit report up and she was no where listed ( she honestly wasn't and I had it pulled to do my yearly check the first week of jan). She then said it was an account written off in 2007 and past statue of limitations but it was still best I pay them in full today. If it's been written off on my taxes in 2007 as they say ( and I don't know since I can't easily locate my taxes from 2007) then they were considered paid when I paid the debt to the irs that year. Very strange company, wanted to send only emails not written letters etc. I would not trust to send them money esp if what they say is true and the original creditor considers it paid.

They keep calling ! Is this spam?

So strange - I just had a call from this number asking about renting and apartment (which I do not do) the caller left a different number for me to call back. I felt badly for whoever called thinking they had reached an agency so I called: the number left was not the person who left the message - the guy who left the message answered my second call -  to the originating number then claimed he knew nothing about it.

This number called me at 8pm asking about a college i want to attend and what i wanted to major i and stuff like that

They say they're from the University of Dayton, but caller ID says Pennsylvania. They wanted to know why I hadn't applied there yet, and sounded really shocked when I told them I wasn't planning on it.

"Is blah-blah-blah available?"

"Are you still highly interested in attending Dayton University?"
"What university?"
"Dayton University."
"Not to my knowledge."
"Oh... Well- have a nice day."

Masters College from Santa Clarita, CA is what the person said....

This was a call purporting to be from St. Martin's University in Washington State, asking for my daughter who is a now high school junior.  She has not taken the SAT or ACT, but she did take a version of the ACT for a local university for running start-but which is not reported to any other university.  I told her to call back (after I had a chance to research the number) so we will see what she says in an hour, maybe.

Some girl called and said she was calling on behalf of LeMoyne College in Syracuse, asking if I planned on attending.  Funny thing is, she completely butchered the name of both the school and city.  You would think if she "worked" for them, she would know how they were pronounced.  "La Moan" "Sy-rah-cuss"  I asked her to repeat herself and she still said it wrong.  Anyway, I asked what she what she wanted and she said she wanted to know if I still planned on applying to there.  I said if she worked there, she would know the answer to that.  She then said she was calling from a call center in Little Rock.  I told her this phone call was ridiculous and said goodbye.  These people are obviously not from the college.  So who are they and what do they want?

I haven't ever applied to schools in PA, I a call tonight And I live on the west coast. My caller I'd just said PA, unknown. This is odd though.

My oldest is 13 and they just called me at 7:49 on a Sunday night, then hung up when I answered.

This was a call from Hollins College, Roanoke, for my daughter asking if she needed any more info. Didn't know she had already gotten any info.

some credit card relief company that will not tell you how they got yournumber.  I asked to get off there list and she said there was no calling list.   Don't know how they got it.

Called me this afternoon. Had never seen or heard from this number before and they didn't leave a message. From what I read on this website, it sounds like they're a college of some sort.

I got a mysterious call from this number. Did not answer. We do have a daughter looking at colleges but the area code wasn't from around here. Since we are on the Do Not Call list, we shouldn't have received a call like this.

Called on Sunday and didn't say anything when I answered.

Andrea does not live with me, never has and probably never will as I only know one who is happily living with her husband. Repeatedly ask to be removed!!!! and nothing has been done but more calls at all times of day and night as well as weekends.

I am on a DO NOT CALL list, and this number calls my home several times a day.  At one point I tried to call it back, and it went to some sort of music, no one answered.  To me it is becoming intrusive.  The caller ID sometimes reads this number, and then sometimes the words "Direct Energy" are above the number.  To me, either someone is getting paid to target my home this way, or it is a persistent telemarketer, or possibly someone or some organization stalking my home to create some sort of crime.  I would like it to stop.

There are pretty impressive colleges here in PA.  From state schools to Ivy League and most are within the top 25 or 100 colleges for students.  My children have graduated from PA colleges and are now working in their chosen fields with no complaints.  I would suggest taking the time to do your research and if you have a problem with a college admissions office answer the phone and POLITELY ask for no further calls.  That is how we do it in PENNSLYVANIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called me in Bellingham, WA, at supper time.  Didn't recognize the number so didn't pick up; no message left.

Tired of these calls...yeah I have a kid headed for college too. But some goofy a** college from PA we're from Texas. You got to be kidding me.
