that is exactly the problem. they should respond by email, and not by phone. then you can seperatly log into the website, and check the validity...

because, the government would, but there are many folks that want the government to less, and less, so cuts funding for things like this...thank the tea party

(215) 653-8000 for my call was AARP and was a follow-up survey for services purchased through an AARP vendor. Since I didn't initially recognize the number when I answered I put it on mute but the automated survey came on when than 30 seconds.

PLEASE QUIT CALLING MY CELL PHONE. I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO DO IN MY LIFE THAN ANSWER THESE STUPID AUTO DIAL CALLS. GO AWAY AND PESTER YOUR FRIENDS, IF YOU HAVE ANY.

Received 3 calls from this number today. No message was left. I did not answer or call back.
I, too, have recently signed up for AARP/UHC Medicare Supplemental Insurance, so perhaps calls relate to that; however, if so, they should have a real person calling and should leave a message.
Had similar situation with PDP. Unknown number and no name on Caller ID. When I called back, I reached outsourced Customer "Service" staff in the Phillipines. Talked with 3 different people, and could understand none of them.
Ridiculous. Welcome to Medicare.

I did not recognize the number so I waited for a message that never came and here I am reading the posts on this site. I just signed up with AARP for "gap" insurance so it may have been them but if they want to talk to me they better leave a message. I am also being pestered calls from 703-291-9005.

I also recently applied for AARP Medicare Supplemental and started receiving these calls almost immediately.
They never leave a message and the one time I did answer, no one was there.

You called the wrong number! Thats not AARP customer service number- Its 1-800-523-5800. If you get a call from this number its because either you requested info on the plans that AARP sells or you applied for converage. They cannot leave messages because of privacy concerns. They do not 'cold' call anyone. They only contact you if you asked for the info first. I used to work there.

same thing here. applied for AARP Medigap policy and I've already received my paperwork but the man who called from this number 215-653-8000 wanted me date of birth and zip code before he would even talk to me. HE called ME and I didn't recognize the number. I don't know if it really was AARP United Healthcare or not but I thought it was strange they called me and insisted on my personal information before they could do a recorded phone call (per caller). It really sounded odd.........I still don't know if the call was legit or not.
Jay K 2013-12-19 04:34:36 Unknown
This is a legitimate call from AARP to those who have applied for Medicare Supplemental coverage.
Charles 2013-12-13 01:36:01 Unknown
Caller on my cell phone from this number claimed to be an AARP representative and asked for more information. I would not give it to him, so he hung up.
Ted B 2013-12-11 18:04:40 Unknown
The id on the phone shows as Ambler Pa but the recorder voice says AARP Medicare Supplement. I tried calling them back but there is no selection to speak to anyone. We got 2 calls on Dec 11...9:34 am and 12:20.....when I did call back the id was Catalist 360????????
215-653-8000 2013-12-05 05:02:14 Unknown
I received a call this evening (around 7 PM) saying my plan has been approved. What I want to underline here is that the caller id indicates ''Name unavailable"! Why, if they indeed are AARP, don't have a caller ID. This is what makes these calls suspicious to me.
nancy harrison 2013-11-21 18:08:59 Unknown
Got a call with a recording but without mentioning a name. I don't answer unknown numbers.
ploni almoni 2013-11-11 22:38:27 Unknown
The caller id said "AARP MEMBER ADV". Since I am a member of AARP, I picked up. The caller asked for me by name, and asked whether I had 5-6 minutes to review some information, and that the call would be recorded. I asked what it was in reference to, and he repeated that it was a "courtesy" call and would be recorded, and that, in order to continue, he needed my birth date. I said that I wouldn't give my birth date unless I knew exactly who he was and why he was calling, and he repeated that it was a "courtesy" call. I told him that I would not give him any information because I was not convinced that he was legit, so he wished me a good day and hung up.

This is a unwanted call. tried calling them back without any success.
janinej54 2013-10-22 22:50:50 Unknown
Same thing with me! I hate that companies are robo calling people. I am disabled, and if I don't know the number I don't answer. The number of calls a week can be 2-4. These are getting out of hand.
Pat C. 2013-10-05 19:39:39 Unknown
Its AARP confirming things for a medical plan that you are signed up for.
grannan10 2013-09-30 23:31:06 Unknown
The post which contains an "AARP customer service number directly 1-800-523-5880" is a total scam. That number connects you with a "Congratulations you have won a free trip to the Bahamas" and goes on and on from there. Now they have my phone number so I'll probably be suffering thru unwanted call from them. Just a warning !!!
atlmimi 2013-08-08 14:00:04 Unknown
I, too, recently signed up for Medicare supplemental insurance with AARP and received this call. No message and when I called back it was Catalyst 360 with no suitable options to select. I assume it's legit, but handled poorly. We never do provide information via phone. Sounds like we're all in the same boat on this one...
JudiF 2013-08-06 14:56:10 Unknown
I am on the DO NOT CALL, that means DO NOT CALL ME EVER.....I will not respond and I do not appreciate the violation on my privacy....what little is left.

Received a call today from this phone number; there was no message left and when called could not enter any of the information on the list provided. #2 on this list mentioned AARP. I deal directly with AARP, and this is a number that I have never even seen with AARP. I will not get involved with anymore of these scam companies out there; how they got my cell number is beyond me!!!

I just signed up for Medigap insurance - this was a call to tell me I had been accepted. They did not ask me my SS #; it was a robocall
