This is a scam! they called me to say my credit union visa was deactivated. I didn't own a card from them. They are trying to get information from people on their credit cards to use for fraudulent / illegal purposes. Be aware!

I got the same call, recording, stating that my credit card had been deactivated and to provide 3 pieces of additional identification.  I called the number back and it rang forever, but finally someone answered, Star Career Academy.  She said she didn't know how I got the number, and I said that it was in my phone because someone had called me from there.  She assured me that no one had called me.  She seemed very apologetic and anxious to get off the phone...............Hmmmmm..............

I just got the same message, we are a school, this line can not make outgoing calls

I received the call as well but did not give any information and let the message play out. I called the number back and also talked to someone who answered the phone as Star Career Academy which is geared to the medical field education/training. The woman said all morning the phone was ringing off the hook and that they are working with the phone company because someone is using their number for the scam.

I just got a call from this number saying my mid-america debit card has beed deactivated and to activate it please press one to speak to our security dept.  I hung up and called the number back and there was no answer.

Wanted my credit card number for security purposes.

I got this message like as usual per week this is a big scam from a  cali local number. is kinda weird how those crooks have our numbers

Same thing - voice automated- called back and reached a 'Culinary School'. Not totally sure if the guy was lagit or if he was BS-ing, but luckily I did not enter my card #...

I RECIEVED PHONE CALL ON MY CELL PHONE FROM THIS NUMBER: 215 676 2278. VERY STRANGE BECAUSE IT SAID MY VISA CARD WAS DEACTIVATED AND WANTED ME TO ENTER MY VISA NUMBER INTO MY PHONE TO REACTIVATE. THIS HAPPENED ON JUNE 15, 2010 AT 6:54PM. I LIVE IN CALIFORNIA IF YOU MUST KNOW. THIS IS STRANGE TO ME CUZ I DO NOT USE MY CELL NUMBER FOR ANY INFORMATION PERTAINING TO THAT KIND OF BUSINESS. ALSO I AM ON THE "DO NOT CALL REGISTRY" BOTH AT HOME AND ON MY CELL PHONE, SO HOW DID THEY GET MY NUMBER???
COULD YOU PLEASE FIND THESE CULPRITS AND PUT A STOP TO THIS SCAM. PLEASE, SHHUT THIS DOWN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. I WILL PROSECUTE TO THE FULLEST. I AM DONE WITH THIS S*** HAPPENING TO ME AND I GET STOLEN FROM.

I also received an automated call from this number saying my card had been deactivated.  I hung up and called back.  I talked to someone who said I had reached a culinary school in PA.

Same B.S. here, but recording said it was from Orange County.

got a call on my cell and a computer voice said my debit card was deacitvated; "press 1 to speak to a theif"
hung up and verified with my CU that all was well

I just received a call from this number. A recording stated that my debit card had been deactivated and that to reactivate it, I needed to press 1. I just hung up. Phone phishing. Like some of the other reports, I don't have my cell phone listed with my credit or debit card information. I wish that there was a better way to get the word out on this sort of scam. Thanks to whoever hosts this site. One suggestion: include phishing or scam or some sort of attempted criminal activity among the call types in the menu.

I had a call saying my visa had been temp. deactivated and to enter my account number to activate. I called the 215 number back, but only to hear a busy signal.

Automated call from some credit union, claimed that my credit card was deactivated which is very impossible because I do not have a card with them. Do not answer the call from this number (215-676-2278), it is a SCAM!

I just got a recorded message from this number claiming to be the First National Bank. I don't have a card from any bank like this...

said they were calling from XXXXX (didn't catch it) saying my card had been temporarily cancelled and to XXX to activate.  I jotted down the number, 21-676-2278 Pennyslvania, and hung up.

Just got a call from this number.  I didn't answer, but later found out on this Website that some crook is trying to get a credit card number.

just rec'd a call from this number saying my chesterfield credit union visa card was deactivated.  I don't have a visa card.  Thanks to all of you for your posts.  They confirmed what I figured.  A scam to get my information.

just got a call from this number saying my visa debit card was deactivated. they are not the people that have my card, so i didn't answer them but it is a scam and i know my company would never ask for my information over the phone. how they be reported!

Just got a call from this number on my cell phone...I was on another call at the time...didn't recognize the number so I didn't click over to answer it.  Glad I didn't.  They didn't leave a message.

Also received call claiming my Tempe School Credit Union Visa debit card was deactivated- I'm not even a member of that credit union.

Got the call saying my Tempe School Credit Union Card was deactivated, I don't have a Tempe account. I did not even bother trying to figure out what they wanted. It's stupid they called from a 215 # and Tempe CU is a LOCAL CU.

Just got a call from the 215 # saying that our Desert Schools card had been deactivated. We don't have a Desert Schools card. Tried calling the # back and it just rang.

Both my husband and myself received calls on our cell phones yesterday. i got the call from this number 215-676-2278 and he got it from 404-496-7500 both wanting our card number. I have had my credit card comprised once this year so it did make us think but would never give anyone our credit card number over the phone because they should know it if it is legit! Who can we report this to? i did call the 215-676-2278 and it was a business and i told the broad someone is calling me from this number and she yelled no they aren't and hung up on me. Can we get the the police in the Philedelphia, Penn. area involved?

Just received a recording saying my VISA card was deactivated. I was so shocked because I had just used it minutes before!  I missed what they said to do to deactivate it.  I wouldn have given them number if asked am calling my bank in the morning to tell them about it. One thing about it, they called my cell phone and my cell phone is not Attached to the card or bank
