i am on no call list.  does signing up for this list do no good?

They are a legitimate research company and member of CASRO, a marketing research association --which has a code of ethics.

several annoying calls

They have called me twice now in the past week from this number.  I have caller ID so I don't answer calls that i don't recognize or that I know to be telemarketers.  My phone number is listed with the "Do Not Call" list so why are these people not recognizing this and moving on to some other scam?

I call foul on your statements.

This is a company that is hired by the government and other officals to take American survey questions. They are trying to reach American households, and not businesses.  They are a legit company, and are not selling anything.  The do not call list are for companies selling.  This doesn't apply to surveys etc.  They will pay you if you take part in a focus group.  The names are real, the people are real. And don't worry, they aren't trying to scam you in any way.

Got several calls, even on weekends. I think they may be fishing for identities to match to a number. The DOT would not call on weekends, nor would they call back 15 times for a survey. In addition to the fact that I am no where near PA. There is more to this than meets the eye, or ear as it would be.

This is message:

"Hello, My name is Irvine. I'm calling on behalf of the U. S. Department of Transportation. This is not a sales call. We're conducting a national study of Americans driving habits recent driving experiences. We'll try to call again later.

Only left message once, now just calls and hang ups.

Call my Google Voice on March 1, 2010 @ 9:10am PDT and left a message:

"Hello, My name is Irvine. I'm calling on behalf of the U. S. Department of Transportation. This is not a sales call. We're conducting a national study of Americans driving habits recent driving experiences. We'll try to call again later, but you may also call us toll, free number 1(800) 600-5438 to participate now or to schedule an interview. Interviews are available Monday through Sunday between 11 AM and 11 PM Eastern Time. Thank you."

They've called me twice now. Always on my cell which is on the do not call list. They want me to reply to a survey and offer $5.00. I tell them that I'm not interested but they call back.  No voice mail left but they did claim to be representing the DOT.

Received two calls five minutes apart at 8:00 p.m. on 1/18/2010.  Did not answer either call, but a female with a strong accent left a message on the second call saying it was a Dept. of Transportation survey and not a sales call.  Left a number of 800-600-5438 if I wanted to complete the survey, which I do not.  I am on the Do Not Call registry and have an unlisted number.  I also doubt it is a survey for a Federal agency.

They've called twice this evening.  We didn't answer, but it caused our answering machine to turn on.  You then hear ringing and then apparently they hang up.

They have called 2 times each evening on 3 separate evenings.  They say they are from the dept. of urban housing or something.  They have been told we are on the do not call list and have a listed number and still they call

it took me a min. to get to the phone and they hung up as I answered but I did not  know the name therefore, I did not call back. I have had 2 a day and just want them to quite calling ( also on do not call list)

1/2/10 - (Call from 215-790-8900 - INC AND DAVIS AND) I answered the call with my business name.  The person asked if this was a business and when I said "Yes", they said, "Sorry to bother you" and hung up.  ...Apparently they are targeting households.

Another call from these idiots on 2/1/2010 at 8:00 p.m., hung up on my answering machine.

Got a similar call:
Male voice:  "I'm calling from the DOT, and would like to offer you five dollars to complete a simple survey.  I know I am calling you on a cell phone so first, may I ask if you are currently driving?"
Me:  "No.  May I ask that you send me an email regarding this survey?"
Phone call sounded cut off, followed by ringing.  I hung up.
This is the second false pretense call like this in about two months.

My call was similar to RKA:  "I'm calling from the DOT...five dollars to complete a survey...may I ask if you are currently driving?" I replied "I don't do surveys, this is my place of business".  Thye hung up.  Got another call last night and they hung up before I could speak.  Got another call today,ignored it. I'm in California, not PA. My cell is on the no call list. Who can we complain to?

They have called my phone 3 or 4 times.  I finally answered.  Caller wanted to know if I was driving, then if I was in a safe place to talk, then asked if I was the only person to answer this phone.  I said I reverse looked up his number and he said that was his place of business - I then hing up.  They still call but I set my BB to silent custom tone for them.

His name was John Francis doing a marketing survey for the Department of Transportation.  Demographics 18-34.  Gave me an Office of Managment and Budget (OMB) number: 2127-0646.  Also, gave me a bogus phone number:  1-800-626-3313.  Who are they kidding - what do they really want to know?

These people called my house when I stepped away next door. My 10 yr. old daughter answered the phone and stated that I wasn't home when they asked. The lady threatened my daughter that if she did not "get her mom, she was going to be in trouble". They mentioned something about transportation to her. Who the h*!! do these people think they are to make threats to a child!?!?!

I've been getting calls from them lately. They even call on Sundays. I do not answer any unfamiliar calls. After a while, I just put them on my block calls list.

Got a call from a gentlement a few minutes ago from this number stating he was conducting a Highway safety survey. His first question was whether or not the phone was a cellphone or landline which I answered without a problem but his second question was whether or not there were any other persons over the age of 18 in my household. I told him I would like to skip that question to which he responded he had no further questions for me. What does the makeup of my household have to do with highway safety? I got an eerie feeling when he asked me that question and am thankful I didn't answer his final, out-of-context question.

Caller hung up on the answering machine.  Our message says we do not accept survey calls.  This happened Aug. 10.  They've never called back.
