Why would you block your number using *67 and then give them your number when you were talking to them?  It seems that they would then have your number.

They are calling from Perkasie, PA, wherever that is.  2 rings and a hangup.  I didn't call back, never do if they don't leave a message telling me who they are and specifically what they are calling about.

I got a call from this number on my home phone.  Pretty sure it is a huge scam.  It rang and my husband answered and there was no one there.  I called the number back, blocking my number using *67 before I dialed so they could not see the number I was calling from.  It claims to be a free $100 gift card.  I asked to speak with someone because my number was blocked and was different from the one I wanted blocked.  I got someone with an Asian accent on the line who was completely incompetent.  She couldn't understand anything, pretty much.  I finally asked for someone who "could" help me and she connected me to a supervisor who also had an Asian accent.  She finally understood me and I gave her each digit SLOWLY of the number I wanted to have removed.  After you are placed on the do not call list, they are not allowed to call back.  I advised her that I would be reporting it to the Attorney General in my state if they called here again.  I worked for the phone company in my state and they advised us to tell frustrated customers who get these types of calls to do exactly that.  

Called twice exactly 7 days apart.  Rings twice and then hung up before I could answer.  I don't know anyone in area code 215 and so I hesitated to ring back.  Glad I did not ring back.

Received a call from this number, no message left.

Called my cell phone at 8:08pm on Nov 19th.  It showed as a missed call, no message left.

It is someone phising to talk to a person they can scam. Do not even answer.

Just received a call from the 5243 number. 2 rings and hung up.

Called my cellphone, rang once and call ended.

Called and only waited for one ring and then they hung up, first call for me.

If you think that these scammers will delete your number from their database,  I've got a $100 gift card for you! Now you have confirmed your number as a live phone number,  and they are going to sell those numbers to another scammer. Just don't call them back, and for those of you with a cellphone install blacklist or something like it to block them.

By ringing once or twice and hanging up, they accomplish several things;
- You call back to see whose call you missed and they hooked you into listening without them paying for the call.
- They sell your number to other telemarketers as confirmed numbers.
- Last, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, they are not in violation of Do Not Call laws because they do not connect and therefore there is no record of a completed call.

Whenever you get such a call, google the number first! This is a great way to connect with others and get the answers you need!

When I called back, I was given the option to opt out of such calls from them, so the female voice said. But, from what I am reading here, even that aspect of these calls are scam, not just spam. Thanks for the input. I'll continue just ignoring hereafter. One hour later, another scam call came in from a different number. I don't know how these scammers work, but it seems the only way to ever curtail the activity is to get at the source of how they are obtaining the number they call from and for phone companies to only provide numbers to legitimate individuals and companies.

They don't need to know your number; that is, they don't know it belongs to you. Their computers just cycle through known area codes & exchanges, one number after another. They either get a connection or number-not-in-service message. They can scrub the unknowns as they go and then sell the list of live numbers after their own spam has run its course. Two-edged income for them; irritation for the rest of us.

I got this call from 215-857-5243 at 8:14 pm Pacific Time. Thanks for the heads up guys! I'm glad I didn't answer. It appears to be an unwanted call from a scammer, telemarketer, or robot. Do not pick up if you get a call!
