You were tricked out of money already so they consider you a sucker now and will try to get more money from you.

Take the advice above to HANG UP. Yes, it's that easy. Nobody is going to arrest you. You might as well flush money down the toilet as give it to these criminals.

This caller refuses to give a company name, but claims to be an attorney representing a pay day loan company. He states he cannot give me the name of the company but that I owe money and need to give my credit card information.

Some guy called me saying I owed on a pay day loan and he was an attorney calling to collect. I think they get your information online somehow. It's a scam I'm sure!

A man with a very thick Indian accent states this is a call and uses my name (first and last) and states he is from what sounded like Financial Great - can't be sure as the accent was so very thick.  He told be to be sure to call him immediately upon getting his message and before he drops my social security number and he gave the last four digits of my social security number.  I received a similar call from a 917 area code - that told me I was being investigated by the Fraud and Crime department and if I didn't contact him I would have to pay the consequences and he would have my S/S privledges and pay stopped.  I am sure it is all a scam and do not intend to recall his number but I don't need the threats either - I suffer from anxiety, depression and agoraphobia and am on medication for these problems and don't need this crap on my telephone.

Don't answer the calls, and whatever you do, don't call this loser back.  If you can turn off the answering machine, do so.  If not, log every attempt at contact. and keep documentation just in case someone's family member gets one of these messages.  You can also direct anyone to this website; the links down the right side show literally hundreds of numbers this extortion attempt is linked to.  Good luck.

Cops don't come to arrest you in the US, even if you DO owe someone money.  You can just hang up on them; it's a scam, and a blatant extortion attempt.  If you are in the position to do so, get a metal coach's whistle from WalMart and blow it in their ear as often as it takes for him to lose interest in you.  You can also direct your manager, if there is any further attempt at extortion, to this website and the links down the right side.  There are literally hundreds of numbers where this extortion scam is coming from.

Hang up on them the minute they open their mouths.  You can also tell them that you have reported their extortion attempt to the police and your manager already (and no, you will not give them the name), and do so.  Also, direct your manager to this website for the forum links down the right side.  Once you click on those, you will see hundreds of numbers that these attempts at extortion come from.  Hang up as often as you need to.  If you want to converse with them (maybe pull their chain a bit) you might also tell them that maybe in India or Pakistan you can be arrested for owing money, but in the US, the police/sheriff/FBI do NOT arrest people for even legitimate debt.  But, since this is extortion, or an attempt at it, you have contacted the law.  Maybe (depending on where you live) you might even be able to file a report and get a number.

I too received a very threatening phone call from this person who said he is with "John Wright Financial Crime" and he called me at work, threatening to send cops to my job and home and call my manager.

I am a cancer survivor and not in great health and have high blood pressure and recently have been through a lot and do not need to get these kind of calls jeopardizing my job and affecting my health and well-being..

Please help me - how do I keep this person from calling me and threatening me?

Thank you

Kevin Williams is the name he used.He told me he was an officer investigating me for a debt I owe.  He didn't tell me who the company was he was collecting for, but he told me he was going to be my worse nightmare.  He was going to block my social security number, my bank account, and call my manager and have me fired.  That shows how ignorant he is, because I do in home care for seniors there is no manager.  In fact, he left a threatening voice message on my clients cell phone and thank goodness I intercepted it.  She is in the beginning stages of dimentia and it would have reduced her to terror and tears. Please let me know how I can help stop this criminal weirdo before he really hurts someone financially.
