Its just someone in jail trying to make a call and it goes through a screening. Process through. That company

I answer the phone and it started as saying something about Jacksonville Prison.

Left a message on the answering machine.  Most of it was an operator telling you what to do.  There was a voice at the end saying something that was hard to understand.  It said it originated from Williamson County (TX) Jail.

Just got a call from this number.  I let it go to voicemail 3 weeks ago, no message was left.  I answered this time and upon saying "hello?" the caller promptly hung up.  I live in Williamson Co, IL, but our area code is 618, not 217.  217 is Springfield/central IL if i recall correctly.

I received a phone call from this number at 6 today, this is in fact a central illinois area code. In the phone book it says champaigne. I don't know who it was who called I wasn't around to answer it.

This happened to me too and I think what it is, is someone is trying to call from jail but there is a debt owed to my phone number for collect calls years ago. The balance has to be paid before receiving anymore collect phone calls. I called my phone company and they said my account looked fine but I had to do a lot of calling phone collection agencies to finally get it cleared up.

2 calls came in at 5:36 am CST & 5:38 am CST.  Recorded message stated "Collect call from Williamson County Jail (IL)".  I hung up because I had heard in the past about phone scams concerning supposed collect calls from jails which were bogus.  I am reporting the call to Verizon's nuisance call department (1-800-257-2969).  Anyone in Illinois who uses Verizon should do the same.  The only way to STOP such scams is to REPORT IT!!!!

It's not a scam it's a collect calling agency for the jails in IL.

The number is like a calling card thing for people in jail to call
