called and left no message. called number back, automated system stated it had been disconected

call your local congressman and detail what an incredible nuisance this is and that it needs to be outlawed and punished severely

I told this guy off once...he was very belligerent.  I'll give him a better piece of my mind next time.

Just got home and there was a message from this number...some guy yelling something about Illinois people.  Very nasty sounding.

I received a call from this number telling me that they wanted to send me Police decals for my front window from my Police Dept. I hung up & called my Police Dept. & found out that they weren't solicitating at the time. Don't give money or info!

Called, I saw on caller ID, didn't answer. They hung up after four rings when answering machine kicks in - left no message. The same number hs called before. would love to block a list of numbers but the phone company will not allow!

This activity has not stopped.  My elderly father (age 91, nearly blind, living alone) received one of these calls shortly before 5:30 p.m. today (1-21-09).  He tried to answer on his portable phone but, when no one responded, I tried to help him by answering on his other extension.  There was no one on the other end, no dial tone, nothing.  After we hung up, we tried to call the number back and got the same "voice mail full" response that others have reported here.

I also did a reverse-phone lookup on switchboard.com, and found the phone line listed to an "Amanda Davenport" in Lincoln, IL.  Entering those search terms into Google brought me to this page, and I also phoned in a report of this incident to the Lincoln, IL police department to let them know that this
fraud?/harassment? is still happening.

 I also intend to report the incident this week to the consumer fraud division in the office of IL Attorney General Lisa Madigan. If they do not already have a file on this individual(s), I will encourage them to open one.

 I find this kind of practice detestable, and those who target the elderly with their frauds to be especially odious . . and obscene!  If you have any more information about this, please forward it to the Lincoln IL Police Department and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan for their further investigation.

got a call from this number today.  My son answered and he knew him by name.  Then asked for me by name.  Said he was Officer Brad Brown and had to talk to me.  I tried calling the number back - got a anwering machine "Sorry I missed your call" hung on for a minute then it said mail box full.  Looked the number up on anywho.com and got it listed under A Davenport and that is what my called id said.  Lived on state street in lincoln illinois

Answered our land line which showed the called id as 217-735-2128, but no one answered and only got a dial tone. We are listed on the gov do not call list.

this number called on July 30, 2009 @3:09pm, I couldn't answer so I called back to check who it was, then I got this message "I have reach a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service" I thought that was weird so I went online to check it, but I got the same answered as everyone else the number being from Lincoln IL.
It has to be a scam so just don't answer..!!

Did not answer.  My caller ID said Illinois Call.

Called.  Heard voices in the background and then hung up on answering machine.

I got a second call from that number in about as many weeks. I went ahead and blocked it. Scumbag.

I got a call today frm this #. When I picked up I heard a beep and then call disconnected. I looked up the phn # and this is who its registered to..

I got this call yesterday and actually did some real research, unlike the individuals above. This is an 16 year old law enforcement union, The IPPA, Illinois Police Patrolmen Association. Your caller ID displays whatever your local phone carrier has on file. So tell them to update their files and actually do some research, you mind find the REAL truth....

reverse caller ID says its from an AMANADA DAVENPORT how's that for a phony name. LOL Maybe i should change my name to Phil Pennsylvania. I'll just add her to my list of blocked numbers.

No one on line when answered. Name & address listed as A.Davenport, 1105 N. State St., Lincoln, IL 62656.    Maybe we should report to State's Attorney.!

Did not answer call as we did not recognize phone number or caller ID. Let the call go to answering machine. Caller left NO message.

Idiot called in the middle of a recording session.  Must be nuts or something.  One MORE call and I will file charges.

Answered call without looking at caller ID (it was "Illinois 217-735-2128). Caller claimed to be from the Illinois Police Patrolman's Association. Said they wanted a contribution, sent a form with a donation form to IPPA at 47 West Polk Street Chicago, IL 60605-2000.
Not sure if this is a legitimate call...envelope mailed Presorted first class in Dallas-Fort Worth from PSI (whatever that is)!!!!!!
Googled Illinois Police Patrolman's Association and got a similar set of e-mail reports about a number in the 815 area(8152326585). Same MO probably the same scam!!!!

This number called my phone #, we weren't home, no message left by them.

The call came at 3:26PM CDT on Aug. 4. The answering machine picked it up, and they left a short message of heavy breathing and giggling. Sounded like a small child.

I got a call from this number today.  Hang up as soon as the machine picked up.  I see now that the caller is not cool.

They've been calling me, and I finally convinced the guy to take me off his list, supposedly. He was looking for donations for a police association. (I don't remember the exact name) He told me they were running an anti-drunk-driving campaign. If they call again, I'm calling the Illinois Attorney General.

I answered the call and the caller said "Can you hear me sir?"  I said "Yes." That was it.  The caller did not hang up and never said another word.  This isn't the first time.  Definitely a scam.

been getting a lot of these calls. same as everyone else. they call and hang up when answered or refuse to leave a message.

rang, andswered it, they hung up. I called it back  and same thing, mail box is full.  The number is from Verizon Company.  I will try to contact them. And see what they say.
