I am getting calls repeatedly from the number 218 and also 1218 , followed with calls from a private number.  the one time I did answer to find someone on the line , there was a man telling me cash prizes/trips available to me as ( the owner of my telephone number)  another one was a woman claiming that there were grants / free money available to someone named Nick , when i informed her that i do not know a "nick" she then claimed that the money was available to me as ( the owner of the telephone number) both callers had foreign accents , and tho i had asked them both to not call my phone again , the calls still keep coming... just today in fact 4 in a row and all within a minute and a half.

The calls you are getting are showing 218 on your caller ID are from a company outside the US.
They take random numbers and call them. when they get an answer, they then sell the numbers to
telemarketing companies. Once you answer the calls, they know the number is active and is open to sales
calls regardless of the no call list. If anyone complains about the calls to the no call listing agency...they
will look through the phone records and show you have received calls from them in the past...
Do yourself a favor...Block the number...then your phone will reject the call before it actually gets in...

I have received several calls from this number.  I have my phones enrolled in opt out and do not answer unless I know who is calling.  How do I stop these calls.

First you dial *57 to put a trace on the call.  Then you rush order a digitone call blocker.  Best $99 spent.
Blocks 80 calls or block an entire area code that harrasses.  Your phone will never ring or take a message on the blocked calls, it hangs up on them.    Automatically blocks calls that are OPX.  Best thing to have during prez elections!  SERIOUSLY!
Don't work for the company, just a night shift worker getting great sleep while digitone screens my calls.

i get these calls all the time . when i answer it hangs up. very annoying!!

The exact same thing happened to me.

7 calls from 218-000-0000 - dead air, then someone comes on the line and says they are from "Market Surveys" and asked for my husband.  I told them he's not here and please don't call again.  15 minutes later, they called again!!!!

I keep getting 2 to 3 calls from this number everyday. Please if you can get them to stop

I've had missed calls from this number all day and when I finally did answer they hung up. When I went to search for it online it came up with a list of different company numbers in Minnesota. How do all these place have the same number?

A guy named Peter, clearly from India, told me my name was chosen to view property in Ormond Beach, FL.  I won't tell you what my response was immediately before I hung up.

got the same today from 218-000-0000 no name and they hang up as i answer if you see it on your id ingore it and please to not try to call it back they may charge it to your bill ?

FYI, this a generic number that shows up when a business telco doesn't set up caller ID properly...  it's not any one company, it's a bunch of places that havne't setup caller ID to work right.

i've gotten three calls today from them, the first one showed up as an ontario call then calls two and three said new york. they left empty voice messages too. who's behind this?

I have been getting calls from this number too.  Today I actually got a recording urging me to vote for McCain at the Republican convention.  The annoying calls didn't help his case.

I have also been receiving several calls from that number and am fed up.  A couple weeks ago I received many calls from another number with the same odd frequency and no answer on the end of the line.

I'm getting sick of these calls too.  I've had 3 today alone!  Each time I pick up, they hang up.
