I saw this call, wondered who this person was and before I picked up the phone, I looked up his number. What a surprise, this IL caller was really just a big scam artist... I'm hoping he calls me back so I can just sass him

They woke me up from my nap this afternoon. Caller ID shows B. Anderson. I do not answer calls from unknown people or numbers. No message was left which is typical of scammers.

do not call.
| suzee 2011-09-28 00:34:49 Unknown |
Trying to collect money for vets it sounded like, I don't fall for scams so didn't give him much of a chance to say much more. I NEVER give money over the phone to anyone no matter who they say they are....way too many people getting ripped off!
Caller ID said B. Anderson

Someone actually was on the other end of the line. They asked for my husband, and when I said he wasn't home, he said he'd try back later. I asked who was calling and he said he was from the Wishing Well foundation. Conversation sounds normal, but his tone of voice was weird. Not a friendly, "Hi! would you like to donate?" voice. Plus if he were, wouuldn't he ask for the lady of the house?

I just got a call frm this number. It was a hang up call, though. I picked up and said hello, and they hung up.

I started getting calls from these people after posting my Resume on Job Search websites. They suggested SMALLER donation when I told them that I am unemployed for over a year!!! I pick up these calls only because I hope it could be job recruiter.

I actually caught the guy off guard... Since long ago I used my DOG's name in the phone directory (!) to help screen out these calls. Now all I say is "For the last time, Mr. #### is DEAD." and pause. People on the other end have no idea what to say, sputter, apologize and hang up. Most never call back again -- hey, hows ya gonna get money from a dead guy, eh?

No, there's really very little the local police can do about this. File your complaint with Lisa Madigan, Illinois Attorney General's office AND with the BBB, then sign up again for the "Do Not Call" list.
Trying to get the phone company to "cut off service to him, which they will do under the law" is nearly impossible, since there's no "law" that says they have to. That's done by way of a court order after the business is shut down, and if your business gets shut down then nobody's paying the bills and the phone companies kill the service for non-payment.
Only bad thing is that these schmucks have a dozen shell companies already established and simply move the paperwork around to a new scam name and keep right back at it.

received call saying they were with Will County police and they were looking for donations to keep kids off streets. Told me they were recording the call as well. Heard many people in background on phones. told them I was in cook county and they still pressed for donation. Told them I don't do donations over phone. They asked me to go to this website:
policeathleticleagueofillinois.com and they will call in a few days.

Received call approx 7:15 p.m. on December 14, 2010. Was asked to hold until the next operator was available. Really? I have time to wait on hold while you call me to beg for money for your scam?

Vietnam Vets caller here too. Got hostile with me when I told him that we do not give to groups who use paid telemarketers. Asked to talk to his supervisor and he hung up on me.

Scammers for "charity"
Tell them after five seonds of their drivvle ...
"Why don't you kiss my a**". They'll pause in shock. Then you say very loadly ... "GOT IT" they'll then hangup and stop calling. If you engage them their experience puts them in control and you feel bad. If you shock them, these clowns cannot react and they hangup as insulted blubbering fools.

It comes through as "Illinois Call" and no one is on the other end when I answered. I searched for this number, and believe it to be a scam.
| Chris 2010-01-15 22:48:00 Unknown |
I just got a call about 4:30. "IL call" from this number. I answered and click, they hung up. I thought automatic dialing machines were illegal in Illinois. They ought to be.
224 is up by Waukegan.
I had a run in with these scammers before. One guy, selling trash bags for veterans, called once a week, and if I answered he hung up, but if my wife answered he gave her his pitch. She's nicer than I am, and she felt sorry for him. One time I called him back from caller ID, and he answered. I swore at him, told him to stop calling. I filed a complaint with my local police, but he told them I'd been harrassing him! The officer must have been sympathetic to his plight, because the policeman told me to lay off, and said there was nothing he could do. I kept after the police, however, and finally he told he the guy had promised not to call back. A week later, he called back. I called the police, and I don't know what happened, because he stopped calling.
I checked out the name of his charity and found out he wasn't even registered in Illinois - hand't been for 2 years.
I checked with his cell phone provider, and the phone company rep said he had something like ten or 20 cell phone numbers registered to his charity, but he couldn't give me any "private" information on the guy. I wanted the phone company to cut off service to him, which they will do under the law if you prove harrassment.
I don't know if this is the same jerk. Probably is. It's from the same neck of the woods.

Guy telling me I'm a Viet Nam Vet. OK - I AM a Viet Nam vet, and this guy wants money from me to help Viet Nam vets. You ask "how much of my dollar goes to the vets and how much goes to your company?" and he goes "the vets get 12%." And I say - "it;s bad enough I was spit on when I got home in 72 and had people call me a babby killer, now I have to sit here and have some guy who changes his name from a board every day and never worked a day in his life try to steal money from me." Then I said some bad words, naming him as the what the words defined. That's when he got nasty right back. So much for caring about us poor vets.
This is a long running scam. These guys change their name every day, wear gold chains and are mostly fat a***s looking for easy money. Tell them you'd like to meet them somewhere and settle this like men. They'll run.
