So, if you haven't shared your number is it possible it was a wrong number. Only my close friends have my unlisted number, but sometimes people dial the wrong number. You must have a giant ego and a little...

What is wrong with you people? First, to those of you who have never had dealings with Chase-Manhattan and who recieve a call from this #, have read it was Chase, and assume it's a con. Is that the only possible solution? No. It's hardly scientific to assume anything. Beware especially of those incapable or unwilling to frame their world-view in anything but dualisms. There are degrees of truth, not absolutes. Not everything is black & white or simply this or that. If you've never had business with Chase & get a call from said #, it's likely that you were misdialed. I'm not saying that this # IS Chase, I'm questioning your reason. You folks jump to conclusions and are a disservice and an embarrassment. Don't believe everything you think, and then, half-cocked, post a belief as knowledge. People like you are the reason you have wars. Arrogant, self-centered & righteous, blind, prideful, non-thinkers with tiny & closed minds. Sorry, but I'm right. How do I know you're like that? Statistics. 82% of homo-sapiens have at least two of those traits as a defining characteristics. Some actually (foolishly) think that they are desirable traits. Everybody knows someone stupid, huh? But you ever wondered if you're the one? Here's another made-up stat: 4 out of 5 people make fun of the 5th person.

Jan 24, 2017  Anyone reasonable left? No? Yes? Oh, I see it's just the 2 of me? I know why. This site is self-selecting. It's why there are more complaints from Earthlings than praises. Yep. By and large people will naturally and easily take the time to criticize and complain but rarely make time to compliment or post something positive or even constructive. Which is why I'm striking a satirical meta-balance by posting constructive criticism.

Today. Now. Not then or soon. Finally the # in question is a surrogate of Chase, a collection agency who works for Chase from time to time. At one time it was an actual division of Chase, but it was reorganized as a stand-alone collection agency in order to keep whatever public face Chase wished to project (a nice happy smiling one) whilst they leverage the abusive mindset of debt-collectors upon their former clients.

How do I know this? EASY. I can see all of this from my "spaceship window" (not really a spaceship -- more like a time machine. Not really a window, more like we interface with your satellite & gather information. Just trying to keep it simple)

I'm not really extra-terrestrial, I'm supra-terrestrial. I'll check back in what seems like several hundred Earth years to you to see if you've evolved on the whole. MAYBE I'LL CONSIDER LANDING AT THAT SPACE-TIME. As time flows for me, this post took milliseconds. Sorry to interfere, couldn't resist. Sometimes we just can't help ourselves; it's almost... Human.

I have no business with Chase and never have.
I currently have no credit cards, nor even a bank account.
I've had my current cell# for 5+ years.

Starting a few days ago (January 2013), I've gotten maybe TWENTY calls from this number (224-699-6000), EVERY DAY, often before 8AM in the morning.

I don't care who the number belongs to, whether its a bank or not;  I want them to stop the harassing phone calls.

Been getting calls from this number and others that are supposedly Chase on my cell.  They never leave a voice message.  So tired of it that I created an "annoying Caller" contact and assigned it a silent ringtone.

I've gotten several calls. I don't answer, and they never leave a message.
Seems like someone would have closed them down by now if it was fraudulent.
Must be a sales pitch?

I got a call from this number and a man with an accent asked for my husband by name.  I replied my husband wasn't home.  He gave me an 888 number that I couldn't write down as I was out walking and he said he was from Chase.

*I* got a call from 224-699-6000 today as well.  Caller ID said "JP MORGAN".  Expecting it was yet another spam call, (I get a least one daily) I picked up/hung up without answering to break the call.  Then immediately googled this number to check it out.

The number (224-699-6000) IMMEDIATELY called back, and I let ti go to answering machine this time. A young man left a message, asking for me by name and giving me another number 888-489-8452 to call back.

NOTE that 'my' number is DIFFERENT from the number left in YOUR message, Not Duped.

They noted this was in reference to a recent dispute on my Chase credit card (And yes, we ARE disputing an unknown charge and I knew that in advance of this call).

So, it SEEMED legit, BUT there were so many CONFLICTING POSTS on THIS SITE, that I was nervous and confused.  They ALSO said they were leaving an EMAIL Message about this in our email we have registered with the account.  They did.

Now, THAT seemed legit.  Even if someone hacked into the credit card data base - or stole our number some other way, WHY would they need to call us?  The hackers would just go on a spending spree, right?  Same with the email.  But, I waited until my spouse got home (they had the card in their possession) and together we called.

TURNS OUT THIS *WAS* A **LEGIT CALL** FROM OUR CREDIT CARD ISSUER (CHASE) TO DISCUSS A DISPUTED CHARGE ON OUR CREDIT CARD.  They told us that they were removing the charge and continuing to investigate.

THE ONLY THING I CAN FIGURE HERE is **SOME** of the calls ARE SPOOFED NUMBERS by CRIMINALS THAT KNOW WHAT PHONE NUMBERS THE LEGIT COMPANIES USE.  OTHER CALLS are the REAL THING.

**************************SO - I believe BOTH "SIDES" are RIGHT.*********************************

The thing to do is to check out the details as carefully as you can and TRUST YOUR GUT if you think something is fishy.  CALL the NUMBER ON THE BACK of YOUR CARD if you have any doubts.  That way you'll KNOW you are reaching the LEGITIMATE SOURCE of your card and not some bogus spammers' number.

GOOD LUCK PEOPLE and I hope NO ONE get SCAMMED by the bad guys.

I just got a call from them on my cell phone and while it was still ringing, I started looking up what this number is here on 800notes. When the call went to voicemail, I immediately got a call from the same number on my desk phone at work, the caller ID on the phone identified it at JP Morgan Chase. When I answered, they were confirming a 5000+ dollar charge I made two days ago. They knew the amount and to whom the charge was from and asked for no other information other than whether I had made the order in the first place.

After getting off the phone with them I called Chase and they confirmed that their security department had contacted me.

In my case the call was legit, but I am wondering if there might be fraudulent groups that are faking this phone number to make people think they are calling from Chase bank....

Also, to all the racists on here whining about "non-english speakers" "broken and unintelligible enlgih," etc., I hate to inform you, but the Indians employed in these call centers are native English speakers too. They just have a different accent.

Why do you think U.S. companies so overwhelmingly send their call centers there as opposed to say, South America, where labor is just as cheap?

Um, this is not a scam number but a real number for the Chase disputes department. IE, if you file a chargeback, they will call you from this number to follow up.

I imagine some of the people screaming scams here  have a number that formerly belonged to someone who is filing a dispute, and the old number is still on file. Either that, or someone made a typo in entering their phone number somewhere along the way. The risk of this happening is the very reason they won't leave a detailed message. Would you want someone discussing your financial info with someone they couldn't verify was you?

Since it is a legitimate business call, Do Not Call does not apply here. If you got a call from this number and you do not have a Chase card, simply politely tell them that, and they will update their records accordingly.

It was a call from Chase regarding a dispute I filed on a charge on my credit. It is not a scam, it was actually Chase and they were just updating me on the status, they knew my information and did not ask me to provide any personal information to them.

For those shills attempting to legitimize this number & these identity-theft calls:
All people aren't as stupid as you think.
This is a scam. Period.
I have no direct association with Chase, no pending business with Chase nor have I made an inquiry as they attempted to make me believe.
And the person, who barely spoke English called a number that I have NEVER given out to anybody, much less Chase.
You should report this number to as many reporting agencies as you have access to.
Of course, they'll just move on to another phone number, but at least we can make them stay on the move.

Got a fairly long "message" to cellphone voicemail consisting of apparent call center noise. All my accounts with Chase are in good standing. Assume it's legit but incompetent. And, since I have a business relationship with Chase, legal. Will ignore them unless they leave something intelligible.

This is Chase card services.  The number is legit.  I recently discovered unauthorized charges that are a high sum of money.  The fraudulent charges brought my account over the limit and this raised a red flag. Chase called to collect money on charges I did not know about yet.  Since the fraudulent activity on my card, Chase calls daily while everything is still being investigated.  Some charges were reversed, but the rest are in the works. It's a valid number and if they are calling, you must owe them money or you have an opened fraud case!

I received a call on both of my lines about 12:30 pm, and the Call ID said "JP Morgan".  I didn't answer, but they left a message saying that she was calling from Chase Card Services about my Visa inquiry, and left a number to call. Well, I don't have a Chase Visa card, but called the number she left to call. (888-485-8452). I have a private line so it wouldn't show up on THEIR Call ID. They answered saying, "This is the Rewards Hotline". I then hung up. I tried the number twice to make sure that I had dialed correctly. The number that showed up as calling may have been associated with JPMorgan....I don't know.....but it was definitely a scam since the number they gave to call was definitely NOT chase.
