I suspect this is tied in with an accident reporting agency or website. I received a call from this number after being in a M.V.A. 3 days before. My number is unlisted and not given out. The caller asked for me by my first name and hung up when I told him he was speaking to me.I'm on the do not call registry and I reported it

Keep getting phone calls from this #. Caller ID says Baton Rouge. They hang up and never leave a message.

Got a call from this number and a woman who claimed to be from "motor vehicle registration" or something to that effect. She said that her records showed no maintenance insurance and blathered on about a Dodge Dakota (my boyfriend's car) and the first actual question she asked was "What is the mileage on this vehicle?"
I told her that "Dodge Dakota" wasn't enough information and I needed a name. She gave me hers. I then requested that she name the OWNER of the vehicle and she did so, correctly. When I said he wasn't in and was this a good number for him to call her back, she said very quickly, "No, I'll call HIM back." and hung up.
Scam certainly fits the bill in my opinion...the caller ID only said "Baton Rouge, La." which would be where any motor vehicle registration would come from, I suppose, so it might just take some folks in...
