I have received seven calls from this number (unavailable) but this time I asked for her credentials
She had a strong Indian accent - said she worked for Windows - I said I would ring her back - she gave me her number - (12267770328) - I typed it into google and so came to this page.

My mother got a call she is a senior, she did what was asked. I called the number back 226-777-0328 and they answered with windows service center I questioned their tactics during my call . I asked for their GST number he asked me to wait a minute. Another person got on the line and said Dominos can I take your order we deliver. Yeah nice eh! So if anyone thinks hey are legit think again, they responded to my question with stupidity. As well the names mentioned above we're used in my call Lisa Jones was referred to as a supervisor.

We also received a strange phone call here in Texas from a guy claiming to be Mark (forgot the last name).  He speaks very fast and does not give you time to really think about that you would be giving information to a stranger from who knows where.  He said he was calling from Windows, which I thought was strange.  In my 20 years of using computers, no one has ever called from Windows.  I thought that would be like someone calling me from Excel or MS Word to tell me I'm having a problem.  We said we didn't have access to our computer at the time and got him to leave us a call back number.  He really didn't want to give us a number.  We checked the caller ID and it read "Unknown".  Please Watch Out for This SCAM.  Tell Everyone You Know!

Well, after reading all these entries I am so glad I did not type the last bit into the run box!! It was some east indian guy like all the other entries here and he was trying to convince me that they were going to help me because they were getting the feedback from my computer with all the error messages. Wanted to make sure I understood they were very legitimate and  to verify it by telling me the computer license number that only myself and them would have this number! And according to one of the posts here it is a number that is exactly the same as 50 million other people!! So glad I entered that # in Google!! Thanks to all of you I can say I am very glad I did not type the 'www.ammyy.com' in the run box!!!! I told him I was not comfortable with that and asked for a # to call back, but that  I was going to check it out first. Glad I did!! Thanks to everybody here!!

I just received a call from 22670325 - and he mentioned there was an issue with my PC, I asked him to take me off their caller list as I knew this was a hoax - his response? 'No ma'am I will not, what are you going to do?'  I said I will report him, he said, 'you can try whatever you want but we will keep calling you?' Seriously how do people do a job like this and be able to sleep at night?

Today, Jack Davis, called from Windows Service Center. His number was 22677770328. He said he identified my computer was working slow? I asked him how he knew this. He said a scan using my IP address. I asked him to give me my IP address, so I could confirm he had the right computer....I have 3. He hung up. This is the 10th call I have had since moving to Nova Scotia. I usually just tell them I don't own a computer, but this time I fished a little. I assume they are getting somewhere with this approach, but it is important for people to know, that under NO circumstances should they discuss their computer with a stranger on the phone. If you computer is running slowly or you have problems, take it to a reputable repair person, or ask your grandchildren, they could probably fix it for you.

I got the same call from the same Indian guy (Mark with a K !). The phone number to call back was the same 1-226-777-0328. He is very motivated to get the control of the computer. That's the fifth time they (or he) try to contact me ... He reached me on May 5th at 11h30 am in Halifax, Canada

Here is his story

First step : look at the "ID". He asks you to push on the flag and R at the same time. He then asks you to type CMD and click OK. A old micrsosoft windows black screen is there. He then ask you to write assoc then push enter. He read you the last line next to CLSID to prove you that he is a genuine Window service online technician. He reads out 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062. This number is not unique. It will be on most computers, maybe unique to Vista, but they have already confirmed that you are running Vista. So if they spell out 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062 to you, do not be surprised, as lots of people, if not all Vista users, have a CLSID of 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062

Second step: look at the "malwares". He ask you to repeat the flag and R sequence and then you type eventwvr to see the bad enemies in your computers. You click on windows logs and then on application and he asks you to tell him how many red and yellow error messages you got  ... for me they were all related to my printer and honestly didn't look like bad stuff.

Third step: Catch the fish: He asks you to do again the fancy flag and R and then type www.support.me. He says that a technician is generating a login code just for you.

This is where my story stops ... I'm not that dumb ! I don't want to know what happens next !!!

Please don't try to go further !

Enjoy you microsoft window, even if it looks like it's not functioning perfectly well!

was called by a John Miller from this number on april 21st. Same as above, he wanted to access my computer to fix a virus that was downloading.
Was suspicious of caller since a man with such thick accent would have an english name. Told him I would call back.

Same as everyone else..Got a phone a call tonight from a guy with a heavy Indian accent.  Did not identify himself when he called.  He just said he was calling about my computer sending them error messages.  Found that very weird that he didn't say what company he was calling from.  Asked for the number to call him back and got the 226-777-0328.  Scam..

This is a scam! I couldn't see the phone number this person was calling from. I asked him where I could call him back and he gave me this number. He said his name was Ralph (with an Indian accent) from Ontario and that he was calling from the Windows Service Centre regarding a problem with my computer.

I knew from the start that this was a scam. So I faked going on my computer and was asking for directions. He would ask to use my windows key + the letter R. Then type event vwr and click ok. I stopped there since I didn't want to do anything to compromise my computer.

Just received a call from Shawn Parker. He said that he was from Windows. I didn't give him a chance to say anything else.  I asked him his name because I heard of scams going around.  He gave me his name and phone number.  I did call it but hung up because I believed it to be a set up.  I went to 411 reverse number to try to find out more.

I received 3 calls from someone from "Windows Corporation" saying something was wrong with my computer because they kept receiving eror messages!   Last time I checked Windows was an operating system, not a corporation.  However, each time I told him my computer was fine and hung up.  The 4th time he called he was very insistant I turn my computer on right away so he could help me fix the problem, since I was at great risk of losing everything (did he mean my bank account?).  I told him I was too busy making supper and he could call me back on Monday if he would give me his name and some ID.  The line kept clicking like those overseas lines do!  He had a strong accent so I probably got the name wrong but I think he said Venatson  ID #2090K77.  This smells so much like a scam I am holding my breath from the stink.  DON'T LET THESE GUYS ACCESS YOUR COMPUTER.  What can be done to stop this????

I got a call (ID: unknown caller) from Richard claiming to be with the "Windows Service Centre" today too, and I felt very sceptical about it.  I asked for a number to call and they gave me this one: 226-777-0328.  Very pushy, he tells me they are getting error messages from my computer and they MUST get onto my PC to fix it or I may end up with corrupt or no data.  I said No, I don't think so.

I've been using computers for too many years to mention, and have NEVER had a call FROM windows!!  BEWARE...

Same as most of the above. Received a call in Nova Scotia from 226 777-0328, person identified himself as Ralph Kramer and wanted me to give him access to my computer to repair errors which were being propagated on the net Heavy accent. Told him I didn't have time right now, but give me your number, I'll call you back.. which I didn't do.

Had 2 calls today. First was a heated exchange with 'Kevin' who certainly gave as good as he got, not what you would expect from a company affiliated with Microsoft. He told me he was from 'tech 2 tech' then it changed to 'Slap' and this was after the call was introduced as being from Microsoft and then hastily changed to Windows.

Both calls were extremely pushy and wanted me to access my computer (there are several in the house, and they would not specify which one was infected, it didn't appear to matter to them of course).

Second call was from 'Mark' who appeared not to pay any attention when I read him an article from The Guardian which detailed this scam almost word for word.

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

Yeah, same story as above. This guy with a heavy Indian accent. Its the second call I've received in the last month. I called him on it the first time and told him he was an absolute scam artist and cut out the s%^t. Then 3 weeks later he calls again, so I played along for a few minutes asking dumb questions to see what he would say.

The thing is with these idiots they will eventually find someone to prey upon. Hopefully, this helps to raise awareness.
