I received call claiming to be from Sierra Club, I asked to be taken off list.  Then the caller provided to say "while I do that can I talk to you about the Sierra Club"...I said "I just asked to be taken off your list".  She said "well its a waste of time to not tell you why I called while I have you on the phone".  I said "no, I just told you to take me off your list".  She then ended call.

The caller lied to me and said they were actually an employee of the Sierra Club.  When I called the Sierra Club about it, they confirmed that it was not true.  The Sierra Club membership services office was very apologetic and promised to follow up with the SD&A Teleservices.  

You can call them at 415-977-5500.  If enough of us call them perhaps they will stop using this dishonest business to do their fundraising/memberships.

I've received a bunch of calls from this number. It's not a number in my address book, and has no identifier, and I don't answer calls otherwise; they've never left a message, I have NEVER given my phone number on any online petitions, and I'm on the National Do Not Call List, so whoever it is, I hope they get fined for it...

Call from Sierra Club

It is clear that the Sierra Club is doing the soliciting from the remarks below. It can also be a paid proxy for the sierra club ( i.e. some money making group that takes a % of what they bring in for the Sierra Club.
I will never never give a dime to the Sierra Club nor any other org that does this.
Just runs up charges on my cell costs

I keeo getting calls from this number
on my cell phone
If I pick it up I get charged so I want to know who is calling me

I am also an activist who both signs many online petitions and is a member of the Sierra Club.  I have been getting a lot of these types of called from unfamiliar numbers from the Sierra Club lately.  Because I'm in Hawaii, most of them come in very early in the morning.

I'm so glad I found this site. I now know who it was that called and WHY. I recently signed a petition on Care2 web site, my mobile and home phone number were on it. I sign allot of petitions, my mobile and home numbers are included along with my personal information, most of the time its just part of the "required information field" I went back and found the petition and clear as a bell it says that the Sierra Club WILL contact you via your Mobile number, UNLESS you click the check mark by your mobile number. I didn't see it at the time so its my bad, but now that I FULLY READ the petition I hope they call back. I hope this helps.

Caller ID showed just the phone number.  I didn't answer and no message was left.

This was a call for my wife from someone who said they were calling on behalf of the Sierra Club.  Told them not to call again.

They have called me several times in the past few weeks. Tonight was the first time they left a "message"-- there was no one on the line, just silence.. Have any of you subscribed to a newspaper lately? This happened to me a couple years ago when I subscribed to the SF Chronicle.
