Telemarketer
Calls late nights, weekends, non business hours. Repeatedly. For weeks now. Never leaves message. Scam or harassment. If it continues, I will notify phone service provider. This is obviously not a legit business, whoever it is.

Debt Collector
I never answered this because caller ID just said "receivables".  Finally I did answer, and they were calling about another family member in another state that they wanted information.  I told them the next time they call I am reporting it to my local police department as "harassment" calls and file a complaint.  Haven't heard from them since.

They have been calling and asked for me and told my spouse I should call them back at another number that behinds  with   1- 877. a different number from  240-210-7110. We are on the do not call list and  everyday we get numbers that call and will not leave a message on the answering service nor will they give information when you ask but just hangs up. I am not sure if they are an telemarketer or debt collector.

Started getting calls from this number in Maryland.  Answered first, caller kept repeating - wait do not hang up,
some one will be with you shortly.  I hang up on all calls like this.  Since first call am now getting two to three
calls a day from this number.  If you get a call from this number do not answer it....

Debt Collector
This one leaves empty voice-mails all the time. It's probably for an old Sprint bill. Here's my story.
I signed up for a new 2 year contract and got the new (at the time) SIII. 2 weeks into the contract it stopped working. Tried every setting, only wireless worked, called Sprint and they told me:
Oh yes,you apparantly have a $300 outstanding bill from 6 years ago that we missed during our own credit report.
To which I said, not my fault, but you need to turn this phone on and send me an itemized bill.
To which they said, they don't have one, just for me to pay the bill.
Guess what. I still have no bill, but I now have them calling my tracfone. LOL
I have recorded every call and saved every message. They are horrible at customer service.
Meanwhile, thanks for the $400 phone for $50! (Discount price at signup!) :)

Sprint can kiss my a** !!!! I would LOVE to talk to a collections rep for my ex-wifes phone bill.
Sprint took advantage of her while she was having mental issues and signed her up for a way over priced contract that could not do what she actually needed. If I could had the energy to bring law suit against Sprint, I'd be all over it. Just a few more buttons Sprint !!!

Tell you what, you get some therapy first about your denial that lawbreaking debt collectors routinely hassle people who owe nothing or may be vaguely related to someone who might. Then I'll worry about my denial of some moldy debt claim, which is my federal right to raise.

You're griping at the OP CAnnie who posted 4.5 years ago with *no* hint of your complaints, only confusion as to caller source. Who is baffling us again?

Well it might be a debt collector but if they can't verify anything...which they couldn't...then I am not providing info.  If it is a proper professional collector they will be able to verify on their end.  Plus I do not take any call that calls me then asks me to wait!

this number was calling me at least twice a day, every day, for over a week.  they always hung up before i could answer - most of the time, my cell would only ring for a literal second.  the one time i was able to answer the phone an automated voice told me that i had an important message, and i was then put on hold.  i hung up because i don't have unlimited minutes, and don't want to waste them being on hold with someone who is probably trying to scam me.  and after a while of ignoring them, they actually stopped calling!

...but now i'm getting calls, twice a day, every day, from 310-703-5780.  this number at least stays on long enough for me to answer.  after doing a bit of Googling i'm convinced that its the same company using both of these numbers, which i've read is Receivables Performance Manager, collecting for Sprint - i don't currently use Sprint, nor have i ever used them.  i wonder what number they'll use next?

I just got a call today from this number 2402107110. I read through the comments to try and get an idea of what this company wanted, then I saw a few people mention sprint and I automatically knew.  I owe sprint some money and its only been a few months. So AT LEAST I'm not in denial about why they are calling. Its baffling that people come onto here complaining about a debt collector when 99% of the time YOU KNEW ABOUT THE DEBT! But you act shocked when they call and ask for the debt to be payed?  I won't answer any of their calls in the future

Prank Call
This "collection agency" began calling me after I reported Sprint to the FCC.  I think they are really just a bunch of phone thug wannabees that harrass people for a price and collect from people that they can intimidate into interacting with them.  I get 2 calls per day with various numbers and different "i.d" names too.  This time they just played music on my voice mail.  Usually my phone just rings twice (just enough to make me get out of my chair) but on weekends they sometimes leave me naughty messages or MUSIC when I don't answer.  I have them on my call blocker and do not call and reported them to FCC, blah, blah...  My suggestion is to not pick up a call from a name/number you don't recognize on personal phones.  If the caller knows you and really needs to speak to you they can leave a voicemail and you can call right back.  In my case I have never heard a human voice--I don't think they really want to talk to anyone unless maybe they think they can take advantage of an elderly person who might be vulnerable or something--they're obviously crooks and stupid to boot.  The name that everyone has, RPM, and the notion that they are "collectors" fits in every case.  I'm in the process of having the head dumbass subpeoned to appear as a witness in my suit against Sprint Telecommunications.  I'm also billing Sprint and RPM for my time and trouble (and I figure that my time is very costly and trouble--well, trouble, that's almost criminal.)  All the goofballs involved have received cease and desist letters and I grudgingly continue to carry on this suit which i hope either to tie up some corporate lawyers on Sprint's behalf or some Jerkwater lawyers representing RPM.  I'm assured of winning the suit but thus far anyone that I've read about that sued Sprint and won didn't collect a dime in damages.  I expect them to default by not showing up in court.  I'm fortunate to be retired and have nothing important keeping me from drawing these w**kers out far enough to get my noose around their necks.  I would be curious to know if anyone else has been introduced to these jerks hiding behind they're little annoyances through some action that originated with a dispute with Sprint.  Even if others of you can connect your RPM hassels to another brand of corporate bullies, it would help to learn if there is a definite pattern or if RPM can traced to a multinational's misdeeds.  Just remember that it's a lot easier to record every support or customer service conversation when dealing with big technology nasties from the beginning than to go back and recreate conversations from memory.  Unless you have evidence that includes everything beginning with dialing the phone of these guys (talking about the big boys like Sprint who write the regulations and tell the FCC what it can or can not do) through the frustrating menu's all the way to the last, "thank you for choosing Sprint and have a wonderful day" and every employee's fake name along the way you have nothing.  They will deny everything that isn't recorded and when cornered they simply hang up.  Then it's time to send copies of everything to the FCC and the CEO and COO at corporate headquarters.  Make their stupid lawyers do some work for a change.  If you have time (like I do) to trace the histories of the officers and directors plus their relationship to government agencies it's obvious who's cheating who and laughing about stealing your money all the way to the "banks that are too big to fail".  Trillions stolen leading up to 2008.  We paid for it and it's already starting again.  But I digress.  RPM is a bunch of suckers too lazy to work for a living.

Prank Call
Believe it or not, the caller for me is a Mexican lady who thinks i am their son, or an actor/soundboard, since everyone is saying collection agency and robocall. This is awkward. I did my usual to get unknown stalker callers from calling, bang an empty soda can against it. it lowered the calls, but that they kept calling with that in their ear? Genius. Listed as a prank call because... It can't be real.

The # 240-210-7110 AND 443-440-5129 belong to the same credit collection agency RPM. They call me daily & all my cell phone does is pick up static. I return called from blocked work # and they put you throught to a rep who will NOT give out any information or remove you from their list. This is a BRAND NEW cell # for me and I have no collection debts.
