Finally decided to pick up today. Listened to their message. Followed their instructions to push 2 if I was NOT the person they were calling (they only said my last name - they are really grasping...). Of course, pushing 2 only got me another message, to call them. I calmed down and called them back. Told the idiot who answered that the person they were calling was NOT at this number. Told him NOT to call again! We'll see...you know they can't follow directions and won't follow simple requests. Hey, I'm retired and have time to have fun with these idiots. And to those of you who say to "own up to the debt".... Well, I don't have any. They are phishing and I'm not biting.

These people kept calling from the 800 number and 204 number back in August. They called every day, several times per day. They were calling for someone who's name is similar to my husband's. Finally, both my husband and I called to tell them that they had the wrong number/person and asked them to stop calling. Thinking we were lying, the guy became belligerent and told my husband that since they had business with him, they would keep calling as often as they wanted. My husband countered that the calls needed to cease and desist. The guy responded that in order to honour that request, my husband would need to confirm his birthdate and SSN. My husband refused. The guy said that they would keep calling. Finally, my husband said, "What SSN are you trying to confirm?" The guy told him. My husband said, "That is NOT my SSN." The guy's response? "Oh, sorry. We must have the wrong person." Ya think? Now the calls started up again this morning. I called them back and told them, "Listen, this person is not a member of our household, is not a friend or relative, and we don't know him." The guy asked, So, what you're telling me is that you don't know this person?" Duh..

I have received numerous calls continually throughout the day. RPM is a NASTY (!!!!) "debt collection" (bogus?) agency trying to get information from you for supposed debts - companies you never did business with, accounts you never opened or accounts closed long ago that you haven't done business with or held their credit card for years, etc.
They are rude, nasty, and will harass you. They don't mind making information up to try and get you to give more information. Always ask for proof of the supposed "debt" in writing (companies who turn you over to a debt collection agency must provide a paper trail showing their attempts to collect the debt, that the debt is more than 60 days past due, and that their attempts have been unsuccessful) and get the at least the first name of the person to whom you are speaking, their phone extension, and their company ID number. Under federal law they must provide you with this information (they don't need to release their last name). If they don't, quietly remind them they must under FTC and federal laws and regulations. After getting the information, tell them that you will file a complaint against them with the FTC for harassment if they ever contact your number again. Tell them you have been keeping a record (and you should) of the dates, times, and a summary of the phone calls and that you will be happy to submit this information to the FTC should they insist on contacting you.
You may want to go to the FTC website (www.ftc.gov) and review when it would be appropriate to file a complaint and what your State allows you to do/not do.
Alternate phone numbers included: 310-703-5788, 240-210-7111, and 800 numbers listed as "unknown".
