Iv'e been receiving these calls from they say the Census Bureau.I think this is just another government agency used by the Obama administration to harass conservatives that voted Republican in the last Presidential election. Yes I know your thinking just another nut case, but I didn't start receiving these calls until after the last election and we already know a government agency called the IRS is being used to target conservatives, so while the heat on IRS use the Census Bureau to fill in, not quite as effective but for the conservative filing short form it's just as harassing! Just saying why do we need another big government agency, living off tax payer, doing the Democrats bidding?

Got a call from this number. Appears to really be the US Census.
They asked if I lived at a particular address and I told them I haven't lived there in 15 years. They asked for my current address, which I gave. Then they thanked me for my time and hung up. Pretty simple.

Been receiving these calls on home phone would not answer no caller ID. Now they are calling on my cell phone still no caller ID. If this is a government phone call I would think a caller ID should be a requirement? Or is this just the Obama Administration making harassment phone calls for voting Republican, after the IRS found to be harassing conservative groups I put nothing out of limits for this Administration? Or am I just being a little paranoid?

I am getting multiple calls from a group claiming to be US Census. I won't respond to their questions since I doubt that the real US Census would be this persistent.

Census Scam
Claim: People posing as census workers are attempting to elicit personal information over the telephone.
Status: Undetermined.
Example: [Collected on the Internet, 2000]
A friend of mine yesterday received a call at home from someone claiming to be from the Census Bureau. The caller stated that they were just calling to confirm information on file for her. They proceeded to go over my friend's home address, phone # and full name (maiden name as well). But when it came to her social security number, they wanted her to repeat the number to them.
Reluctant - my friend said she would call them tomorrow once she had verified with someone at the Census Bureau that they were doing cold calling. The caller even had their "supervisor" get on the line and try to convince my friend. She hung up and immediately called her telephone company. They were able to trace the call to a Baltimore residence. Apparently this is the latest scam going around. Please pass along to your friends and remind them never to give out information over the phone.
Origins: Did this really happen? We don't know. Citizens have been reporting this scam to the police, but that doesn't mean someone actually tried to pull it on them. People often notify the police about things they've heard of but haven't necessarily experienced themselves.
Census workers do make phone calls and door-to-door visits to try to track down households that did not return their census forms, but they don't ask for Social Security numbers. They also carry identification badges and will give you the phone number of their Census Bureau offices so you can verify their identities. In any case, this is an area where plain old common sense is more important than knowing "the truth." Don't give out personal information to anyone whose identity you cannot ascertain, over the telephone or by any other means. Anyone who balks at your attempts to verify the origin and purpose of their request is almost certainly up to no good.

NO --- THIS IS A SCAM that the people hav e falsified the number to show on your Caller ID. Google the toll free number they tell you to call. The US Census is only taken every 10 years.

All of the above are correct statements. The person calling from this # called my office. How did she know my place of business and telephone#???!!! The invasive questionnaire received 4 weeks ago states the address was selected for the survey, not a person's name nor does it appear on the survey. I completed the 28 page questionnaire on line by passing on all the questions , all were highly invasive thus at the end of the survey I had 0 answers. She wanted to verify some of the answers on the questionnaire (and I had not answered a single question!) and the call will be recorded, is that alright? I immediately said no. When she began by verifying my name and address I shared the fact, in the environment we live in this country today why would I give any information over the telephone! I have received many calls at home which has an unlisted# with no messages, just hang-ups.
The people of this country have been asleep or afraid and not paiding attention to what has been and is quickly unfolding in the United States.

We got this same intrusive survey - starting with a post card telling us to do it online. When we didn't, it showed up in the mail. Then this call came. I told this woman we would never give this type of personal information to ANYONE! Then came a letter from the " head honcho" lecturing us about how important it is and how a response is required by law. So they got a response that stated that our response is that it was none of their business, we don't care about their programs, and the government is so far in debt they can't afford this crap ( along with their blank booklet). Now they are calling again and again, and we don't answer. They have used 3 different numbers that have all been listed in above comments.

Unfortunately, they are telling the truth. I wouldn't give the guy any information that came to my door and they called me and have called me now for 2-3 months in a row. I agree that the information is random, but harmless. Supposedly, we can get in trouble with the law if we refuse to answer. Funny, though, WE PAY THEIR SALARY!
Wolfawn 2014-02-08 00:17:54 Unknown
It is actually the Census Bureau. They have called me now for two or three months. I chose to do the survey by phone.
Ann 2014-02-05 18:07:14 Unknown
They actually want to know how many toilets are in your home? I'll tell them none, we dig a hole in the back yard.

Bull! I never agreed to anything. And i am not giving out personal info to anyone over the phone or in person if i don't have proof as to who they are.

Mam, you should be ashamed of yourself. Scaring people into giving intrusive, personal information with false threats and lies that they will be fined and/or imprisoned for failure to complete this survey, whether by mail, on the phone, or in person. The scary part is, you likely believe all the lies you've been told by the Department of Justice, Census Bureau. Title 13 and Title 18 do NOT allow for fines and imprisonment except under extremely rare conditions - something that is left out in these lies. Just go to YouTube and type in "American Community Survey" - and watch the HUNDREDS of videos of how these census workers use and abuse the system. Further, check out the Channel 4 news story in 2010 in Yuba, California, where a women was shot & killed in her own home because of a census bureau worker showing up at 9:30 at night. AND YOU SUPPORT THIS? Trust me, you are the lowest form of a human being, and the lowest form of an American citizen. And to think my father and son served in the military to protect this???? You people are SICK.
Joe I Don't Know 2014-01-11 02:27:53 Unknown
You think you are "lucky" to receive these Department of Justice, Census Bureau survey forms? Obviously, you're in a state where marijuana is legal.
Here's a news flash for you: IT IS NOT ANY OF THE GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS WHAT TIME YOU LEAVE FOR WORK, WHAT YOU OWE ON A HOUSE, HOW MANY TIMES YOU'VE BEEN MARRIED, OR HOW MANY TOILETS ARE IN YOUR HOME. I don't care that they won't "divulge my information" to a third party - the fact that the "free" American government wants this information should be disturbing in and of itself. American Community Survey - great to wipe you asse with.
Joe I Don't Know 2014-01-11 02:17:42 Survey
This IS the Census Bureau. And they will haunt you to the depths of hell if you don't complete the "American Community Survey". This is NOT the "every 10 years for a head-count" survey - far from it. The 28-page questionnaire asks extremely personal & financial information THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO BUSINESS COLLECTING. They claim it's for them to know where to build schools and hospitals. Here's a news flash: The government doesn't build schools and hospitals. And what does the amount I owe on a home, how many times I've been married, and how many vehicle loans I have, and what time I leave for work - WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH BUILDING ANYTHING? They claim the information they collect is "private" and will not be divulged to anyone - hey, I thought you just said it was used to help locate schools and hospitals. I'm not as worried about them divulging this to a third party as I am the fact that THE GOVERNMENT WANTS THIS INFORMATION. If you trust politicians, go ahead, tell them your entire life history. NOT ME. Just one of the blatant examples of why this government is f****-up. By the way, they also call from TX: 812-218-3144 in the State of Indiana. Damn crooks.

Not answering 2013-12-16 22:49:19 Survey
We got the stupid survey in the mail. It was about 30 pages. I work for the US government and I would NEVER complete a survey so invasive as this one. We threw it in the fire place. It was not even addressed to us, it was addressed to Resident. And then the phone calls started, even on Sundays! And we have an UNLISTED/UNPUBLISHED phone number! They will not stop calling. My husband told them we were NOT going to answer those INVASIVE questions. They said you had to by law. Well it is NOT going to happen. I am reporting them to our local State's Attorney's office in the morning.

telemarketers pretending to be with the US government. Spammers, do not give them any information. They are also making fake posts on these boards to throw people off about them. The US government would only call from an "888" number -ONLY and your caller id would list as"US Census". Any thing else is a lie!

I recently filled out a long form for the census bureau. They were verifying information. No biggie, call them back if you've taken the time to fill it out. The gov't knows more about you from tracking your internet usage anyway.

Our family are private people. Just got a call at 8 p.m. On Sunday night. Yes the said they were Census and left a message. They have some nerve why do they think I would answer them on my day off, if it was that important they can send the police, Sunday is family time and the families day off together i don't want anyone calling me asking me questions or leaving me a messages my town census has all my info for my household and and if they asked what our income was I wouldn't disclose that or any personal numbers like social security or licence. Oh the caller ID also stated it was the Census
Benchmark 2013-11-19 22:25:37 Unknown
I, too, receive calls from this number on almost a daily basis. I also received the mailings with a myriad of questions about my personal life WHICH IS NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS and which further states that I am required "by law" to complete and return the form(s). Interestingly enough, there is no "Reply by" date. I find that more than suspicious. I have no intention of NOT replying, but it probably won't be until after the next census is done in 2020. And no, I don't answer the phone when they call.
Nancy 2013-09-21 02:03:50 Unknown
A week later and they're still calling daily. They got their invasive form back, what more do they want? Blocked.
Nancy 2013-09-13 19:30:31 Telemarketer
Wow, the 'US Census Bureau' sure is persistent! This is the 5th number that they've called from, and they call daily. We did the American Community Survey, what more do they want? If they show up at my house I'll call the cops.
Caller id doesn't even say US Census Bureau so this is probably a scam. Be careful of scammers trying to get personal information while pretending to be from the census bureau!

My wife previously worked for the Census Bureau and was issued an I.D. number and was told they all have one and need to give it. Now she's getting these calls and asks for the caller's I.D. number but just gets the runaround !!
