Owens corning is not a scam. They are a remodling company. Affililiated with tons of other companys such as BJ's as well as various remodling shows. People approach the booth or table and fill out a slip to win free solace windows. Or a finished basement. The telemarketers call these people to verify their information on the slip.

saw an add on tv this evening for basement remodeling so i called the 800 number (800) 227-3636. when the person answered they said "hello" so i said "hello". so i'm initially think "ok, unprofessional". and they begin to gather some info about our basement - and she was using works like "darling" and "dear" instead if the usual telemarketer script i would have expected when calling "owens corning".
in the background - heard the same thing as the other people reference that there were people talking in the background - not using bad language but it didnt sound like an office environment.
at one point when she put her "supervisor" on to confirm the information, he had everything completely wrong and blamed it on sloppy writing.
when i began to feel completely uneasy and told the "supervisor" to nevermind i was no longer interested and hung up, this (240) number was the number that called back a few minutes later.
went to 411.com and saw where this number was out of .... district heights is NOT a good area of town and now i'm thinking i gave my info to a bunch of scammers. GREAT!
Gonna make sure the shotgun is loaded for the next few nights.
DO NOT give these people your info. this "company", if it is that, is weird.

I've gotten the same calls for the past two days. From numbers 240.619.7319/7316/7315/7318. I haven't answered any of the calls, and no messages are left. I have no idea...

I received this call after filling out some information on Owens Corning's website. They called about scheduling an estimate.

I was at home early Tuesday evening (4 January) when the phone rang. Our caller ID said "Owens Corning," so I opted not to answer as we're already on the Do Not Call list and I didn't feel like dealing with a sales call. When the answering machine picked up, I heard some background noise and a few people talking. It was clear that they had no idea the call had connected. As I listened, I heard people discussing various topics and using rather colorful language, including the "N" word and calling someone a "son of a b***h." I chimed in with "Hello?!" and announced that I was on the other end and could hear everything. They immediately hung up.

I had the same experience as Janet, I picked up the call as I was curious and some voice was talking about how good this SuperBowl would be. Paying no attention to the call. Just as well as nobody cares and dislikes the telemarketer calls as well.
Only reason the calls get through is the phone number is associated with Owens Corning which seems to be a legit business. I am sure that is illegal.

I have received calls from 2406197319 and when I call it back no one answers and VM does not come on either. I get this number at least once a month. I think it's probably a campaign number auto dial.
