Got the same message at 12:56 AM Pacific Time on December 24, 2012 saying "Michelle said to send this to you http://bit.ly/W0sCUx", except that the message came from 248-326-8019.

I was sent a txt message today 12/23/12 from a Michelle. Text message reads: "Michelle said to send this to you http://bit.ly/W0sCUx". I went to this website and McAfee told me that this is a dangerous site to go to. So, everyone be warned,if you get a text from Michelle, do not go there.

I got a message from this number saying:

I think it's fraud, once you click on these links they obtain all you info

I got the same message "Mary said to send this to you  http://bit.ly/UjyWWY." in a text. WHAT THE EFF!! How does this SCAM have my phone number? How do you report something like that?!

Coworker asked me about the link, said her nephew (Alex) had given it to her. I typed the address into my phone: it goes to a legitamite-appearing (suspicious!) Costco free gift card" site with a special promotion box that is already populated. Sensing a scam I backed right out, but two hours later got a text from this #: "Mary said to send this to you  http://bit.ly/UjyWWY." Asked my coworker if she had also received her info from "Alex" in a random text message. She confirmed this. Appears to be yet another rehashing of the free gift card hook that includes pulling all of your personal information out of you before giving you...NOTHING!

Looks like a "Free Costco Giftcard" scam.

"Jennifer said to send this to you" - and then they had a link. When I clicked on it, it sent me to an amazon page, but it looked fake. Does anyone know if this is just spam or has the potential to be a virus?

I also received this same text to my work Blackberry on 12/06/12 @10:54AM (EST).
They wrote (same as yours):
