I just got a call from that number  - googled it and came up with this website, and called 888-918-9004, per a previous post, and got "Kids Wish Network" - I asked to be removed from their calling list.  She transferred me to the Donor Dept. and she asked for my name/address/phone number, and said that I would be taken off the list, and that it could taken up to 3 months to be completely removed.  I asked how they got my number, and she asked if I was in the white pages.  I said I was on the "Do Not Call Registry" - and she said it doesn't apply to charities.  At least both ladies were very pleasant.

I also am on the Do Not Call list.  I call the number that the Ohio person from
Dec 12 2008 had mentioned in there comments.  I got a recording saying they were the Kid Wish Organization and they now have a new location in FL. (whatever that means)  the number I called is 1888-918-9004.  Good luck.  If this will keep up I will have to file a formal complaint with my state/federal "No Call List" people or somewhere else.  very interesting

OOpppssss.... I just re-read above. Childrens Miracle Network would not use anything like this. I never heard of Kid Wish. Sounds like a copy-cat sound alike phony charity.

Call from 248-436-1600 showed Michigan Call. My daughter answered and they asked for me. I wasn't home. The caller did not leave a message, just hung up.

If this is a "fund raiser" they sure act strange.

Also I am on the "do not call" registry and have never contacted or contributed to "Childrens Miracle Network". I did not know that they used professional paid boiler-room fund raisers for that sort of charitable contributions.

I have received 6 calls from this number in the last 3 days.  VERY ANNOYING!  I do not answer because I do not recognize the number and they do not leave a message.

Received a call at 11:40am today from this number. Didn't recognize, so didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.  I am also on the "Do Not Call" registry.

I called Insight services 1-248-552-8866 and said I would like the calls to stop..he said he would take my number off their calling list. I do hope so. This was for calls I was receiving from 1 248-436-1600.....

If this is truly a charitable organization THEY CAN STILL CALL YOU EVEN IF YOU ARE ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST.  The Do Not Call List does not pertain to Charities....  You CAN NOT file a complaint about TRUE Charities...

Same story as above.  A person, who sounded like an un-educated black man, called and asked for me by name.  My wife answered, and when she told him that I was busy, he hung up.

248-436-1600 Continues to call my house. Ask for my wife and myself by name. This is creepy... People like this give charities a bad name. Wish I knew how to call them, or how best to bother them.

I answered phone. Noboday said anything. Could hear people in background. Said hello again, still nothing, then they hung up. Irritating! I'm also on the do not call list.

248-436-1600 - This LANDLINE number is issued by GLOBAL CROSSING TELEMANAGEMENT, INC., General location: SOUTHFIELD, MI area.

I found through reverse phone number that this is a land-line phone number, which the FCC should check into and remove the number as a harrassment.

For the past month my caller ID shows this number.  Sometimes it's several times a day.  Caller ID is wonderful.  I look at the number calling and if I don't know it, I simply don't answer.  If it's important enough they will leave a message.  We, too, are on the "do not call list".

I got a call from them saying they were with  The Natiional Children's Leukemia Foundation. Asking for $$ pledge. I said I would so I would have proof that they have called me several times. I am sending the info to the real Foundation so they know. I am also on the Do Not Call List. I looked  online  for the company Insight Teleservices Inc. in Michigan which is suppose to be handling the donation process. When they call you, ask them for a donation!

I called the toll free number, 888-918-9004, where a pleasant enough woman told me they would remove my name from their call list. Time will tell if this is the case.

Alls you have to do when they call you is say, PLEASE REMOVE ME FROM YOUR LIST. the DNC registry does not pertain to non-profit organizations and charities, so there is nothing you can do about that. but if you say "remove me from your list" they have to.

I have not received phone calls, however, have seen two direct mail pieces assumed originated by Insight Teleservices. On was for "Minnesota Paralyzed Veterans of America" and one for "Operation Lookout - National Center for Missing Youth". Both mail pieces explain they have been retained by these charities as a paid professional fund-raiser to assist in the fundraising program.

Interesting thing is both mail pieces (again two different charities) list the same call-back number. If you call it...I wonder which they'll say they're representing, or more importantly who the money actually goes to.

Bottom-line, this could very well be a legitimate operation, however, I would warn people to do some extra research before donating. Afterall, we probably all have a local charity we'd rather support...one we know exists. Hope this helps, Boomer.

its legit, they call for many different organizations, since they are non profit the do not call list does not apply to them. also they dont wanna call anyone who doesnt wanna be called or help . that is why they have that number on the caller ID. call that back and you can take your self off the list. or just ask them.
the reason they call is they are non profit and wanna send the envelopes out to the people who wanna help so they dont just send them out to be through n away like most others. they do send a federal tax receipt and the address and telephone number are right there on the invoice and you can make your check directly payable to the association.

We have received 3 calls from 248-436-1600 in 1 week.  Each time I answer and no one speaks.  We are also on the "do not call" list.  We received the first call after we received a call from a family member who has the 248 area code.

I had a missed call and checked the google website before calling them back and this is the website I found.  I did not try calling them back.
