First of all I can tell you for sure that the phone calls you are getting are not from Romanian companies. People from Romania now a days speak and write English better than all of us here. They are very educated and speak English fluently,. It's a shame people find this site to come and show hatred for a small group that obviously did nothing wrong to any of them., but whatever to keep the hatred in America, if it's not one group lets pick another right? I wonder if the hatred its not something personal? I actually have a lot of Romanian friend and can tell you they are the most educated, smart people I know. I used to have a neighbor Romanian and she would literally bring over food, sweets almost every time she made something. So stop hating and maybe put that hatred in getting a job, a life and get off the pipe.

For the person that made the comment that he/she hates Romanians is obviously an ignorant person that does not know anything about the world they come from. If you were just a little more educated you would know that there are ways to report annoying calls and not go to this extreme to hate on all Romanians. Please go and educate yourself on how Romanians  receive any American into our Country, with open arms and are the most hospitable of all the people on the Eastern Region. I can say that I am a true Romanian and feel privilaged to  live in the U.S. I would advice you to learn about the people of Romania and see on our background and the strength we hold, the History states that our ancestors were one of the most fierce and powerful of all warriors. I could go on but I think you get my point and I would advise you to not have the hatred in your heart for it destroys you and no one else. One note you might want to take from this is that 90 percent of the people that come in the U.S withing a year or so own their own homes, their businesses, and achieve fast riches,  which in the end they are not losers or are the ones who have the state take care of them. Have I said enough? Go read on our culture.

My husband just received a call like this today. We have recieved it several times over the past year. The woman has even left several messages on my answering machine, speaking very fast in a language I can't figure out. We do have a Romanian last name, so i'm guessing it might be Romanian.

This is a number for Primo Communications,  which offers long distance at reduced rates to Romania.  They do speak Romanian.  I have no knowledge of the company or of its offerings.  From what I have seen they claim to have low prices but with unusual rules,  and they stress heavily telemarketing.   I don't know anything else.

Here's my complaint to the National Do Not Call List:

"The caller spoke in Romanian, which I don't understand; I receive many calls because my last name is Romanian. I believe the call may have been about long distance phone plans or cards, as I've had problems in the past with relentless calls from Star Choice/Star Select in Vancouver. This one originated from Michigan, and when I did a reverse number lookup online, I found that indeed they are making cold calls to sell their services to Romanian speakers. I don't know anyone in Romania, and I don't speak the language, so I have no need for this service. But, boy, these people don't quit. If they ever mobilize into an armed force, we're doomed."

Calls from outside Canada are exempt from DNC. When I was being harassed by Star Choice/Select?to the point where one caller was yelling at me to listen to him and let him finish?I asked several times to speak to a manager and to be taken off their list.

Most times, the caller hung up. But when I did get through to managers, I learned that even though the call originated from Vancouver (604), that particular telemarketer was in the Philippines! I also learned that the company farms out its lists to independent contractors who make the calls, not through a call centre, which means it's virtually impossible to get your name removed, because there are multiple copies of the lists, and they're never updated.

Good luck with this. The call from Michigan was the first I've received in about a year, but before that it happened several times a week, and to my home phone, mobile, and cottage phone. A veritable onslaught of Romanian phone card offers.

Don't hate the Romanians. They're generous, passionate people who meet you on the train and then invite you to their home for dinner. The telemarketers are just a breed of persistent, annoying pests. I'm a proud Canadian of Romanian descent, three generations back, and I love my Romanian people, the sense of roots and tradition, and oh, the food!

My last name is Romanian unfortunately. I am so angry that some relative didn't change it!

When I get the call from 248 and don't recongize it I usually answer by saying "I hope you vampires die." I even learnt a few phrases, such as "die you idiots" in Romanian.

I hate these people!

They called me about 10 times in the last year. i think they where speeking spanish and i said "no espanio." they said "sorry sorry" i hung up

These people keep calling and speeking some strange language. it sounds like they say "grilled cheese" Dont ask me who it is.
