A few years ago I bought their garbage bags, which were awful and overpriced. We paid immediately and I never ordered from there again despite many calls. A few months ago I kept getting phone calls saying we owed the unpaid amount and we needed to show them our canceled check (from 4 years ago) or pay the amount we had already paid - about $43.00! The woman - some southern trash - was nasty and threatened to take me to court and that it would "ruin my credit". I googled them and found out it was a scam and called her back to say that they were a scam and not a charity. Her response was "No, we're NOT a charity!". Needless to say her empty threats never came to fruition. For the past several weeks we have been getting calls from the number 251-633-6953, saying they represent the blind and handicapped. They are now calling themselves "Life Quest of America" but it is the same scam.

Seems to be an awful lot of people who are upset at the very poor quality and outrageous prices your "company" charges.

Walmart does not exclusively employ disabled workers, that is the entire point of our organization and the reason for our higher prices. I am sorry you were not satisfied. We have smaller items if you would be interested in helping disabled workers. Thanks! :)

Hello! I would like to apologize if anyone mislead you, we do try to find out when our employees are doing anything like this and let them go. We are trained to be honest at all times. Hey, thanks for the support and nice comment. We have updated our site and added photos and links to our BBB review. Those bags and brooms were indeed made by M.A.B. and we employed disabled workers to package and mail them among other jobs. Take care! :)

Hi. Thanks for your support, the bulbs are more expensive but you save money in that you may call for free replacements as many times as needed for seven years. Yes, we are for profit, we are a regular company except we employ and train handicapped workers. Unfortunately people occasionally lie on the phone but we do not condone this, if anyone is found doing this they would be warned, retrained and/or fired. I am sorry if anyone mislead you. I have worked with them for years and they do help the disabled. We have a good rating with the BBB, available to read online, also a website that explains all about our program. I have also researched this felony thing after reading it here and you can research also to see it is untrue, this is a common name someone googled, found a felon in another state, who is a different age and started posting that our owner is a felon but they are very clearly 2 different men. This is not true, if you actually do a little research on these 2 men, the felon and the owner of the company you will see you are wrong, they are 2 different people. Please get your facts straight before you slander someone and make false accusations. This is an extremely common name. That is like googling 'John Smith', finding a felon with that name, then posting in comments saying other John Smiths are felons.

I am employed there I am not handicapped but there are handicapped who work with me. I don't know if some of these comments are true or not all I know is this I have five children my husband works for insurance and I was layed off ten months ago I am a certified dental assistant but could not find work. My family was suffering a huge financial hardship and I couldn't find a job anywhere doin anything. And Jeff gave me job it's not making much but it's a guaranteed paycheck each week and my family desperately needs that. So whatever is really going on I hope it's not what everyone on this site is saying.

I too was taken in by this scam and thought it was a non-profit, was charged almost $200 for some zip bags I could have gotten at the dollar store for $20.  Alabama A/G office verified they are for-profit and do not know if they hire handicapped people or not.  SHS is banned from soliciting in Iowa.  I hope this helps. Their "invoice" is also misleading in that it looks so official, yet they are definitely misleading those they solicit.  I now have a standard reply, "I do not accept solicitations over the phone."  I also contacted my attorney, my state A/G office, and an agency which does not like to see older people ripped off.

Ha! Not the real deal. Alabama blind is no longer in business. I know many who work there.  They are on Government blvd in mobile Alabama   I would put my money elsewhere.  My friends that work there are not handicapped in any way. They use fake names when calling.

Tammy Cooper called me Friday Sept. 2013 at 8:38 A.M.  trying to get me to buy a package packed by the handicapped to help the handicapped . She said it was a one time gift of $40.00 .  Her number was 251-665-3826. I did't believe her so I told her, " no thanks."

This place is a complete joke I responded to the now hiring sign passing by applied and didn't even have an interview I was immediately hired I went to orientation and only worked there for two days because I came to find out it's a complete scam the website is made to try to make people believe the lies the main worker Fred is supposedly legally blind which he seems to walk around and drive just find the cooper guy drives a brand new mustang they have a concession stand selling food because the people that work there get paid under the table well some of them and give the place their food stamps to buy cans and sodas and sell them the guy Fred has a safe in the back that he sells prescription medicine out of they have no handicapp workers the stuff is bought from the dollar general, example the windchimes are 3 dollars and they sell for 46.90 it's really sad this is how sales reps get a bad name and real organizations don't have a chance shame on y'all please people do not contribute to these lies

This number is a Handicapped Services that I've been doing business with for more than three years and they really do help the disadvantage with jobs.

Received a call from 251-665-3826. Caller ID states Tammy Cooper. A woman name Belinda stated she worked for Southeastern Handicap Agency and wanted to send me little flags or something for a donation. When I told her that I was not familiar with her agency and needed to look it up, she hung up on me. Upon looking the agency up, I was directed to this site.  I should note that I was skeptical from the beginning due to her unprofessionalism and fumbling over her words.

I was told that the item was made by the disabled. Box arrived marked, "Made in China."
I called and the person-Jeff-said the caller had been let go for elaborating as a telemarketer.
He said to sent the item back.

Always ask for a web site or product page if they can't give you one then you know if they can check it out carefully
