Got the same message, but was from a different name & number:

SMS from # 587-773-1009: "I would luv to be the POSSIBLE buyer of ur Vehicle on AD & give u ADDITIONAL 800 to ur price. If available.EMAIL ASAP: dustinhofer40<>live.com"

Answered the email... received this reply:

"           I  was only thinking you must have had some other buyer's interested in buying it from you, So i thought the best way to outbid them is by offering an additional 800 bucks to your asking price on the add.   I'll not be able to come for the inspection my self due to present Job location but i have a Pick-Up agent who will be contacting you about when and where the pick-up will be taking place after have completed the payment transaction with you my self .

I'm actually willing to purchase it right away and be transported to Ontario where my parents reside, Please tell me a little bit more about the present mechanical condition and how often you do the service and the history  then we can take it from there.

I will be waiting to read from you and if we can come to a quick agreement i will proceed with the payment immediately.."

Second reply from a scammer in one night. :-s

lol! Too funny!  I received the exact same text after posting my bike on kijiji!
I googled the area code and it was in Manhattan, NY... I'm in Toronto Canada!
Then I googled the email address (christhomson008<>gmail) and it took me HERE!!

The new Tel number they are using is 646-493-1904

"Hi, just saw your add on kijiji, I'm ready to add additional sum of $800 to the price you are asking on the add if you will sell it to me, Please respond ASAP on my Email only now then will take it from there to: christhomson008@gmail.com"

I wish I had some time on my hands to f*ck with these guys... get Interpol involved!

Same old scam, .. THEY WANT YOUR BANK INFO!

Hello

I was just thinking you might have had some other buyer's who are interested in buying the Vehicle from you before i contacted you so i think the best way for me to outbid them all is by offering you another additional $800.CND to your asking price on the ad on Kijiji,  I won't be coming for the inspection of the Vehicle my self due to present Job,  I only have a pick-up Agent who will be contacting you about where and when the picking of the Vehicle will taking place after have completed the payment transaction with you my self.

Please tell me a little more about the present mechanical condition and how often you do the service or if possible the history ?. I will wait to read from and if we come to an agreement i will proceed with the payment immediately

The first tip off is the subject line of the E-mail. In many examples the scammers usually just copy and paste your item description directly into the subject line of the E-mail. Second big tip off is in regards to shipping. The scammers almost always offer to take care of arranging shipping themselves. They may also mention paying with a Cashier's Check or PayPal in the initial or second E-mail. Suspicious E-mails may also use all capital letters, have bad spelling, request more contact or banking info from you, will not be concerned with the condition or price of the car  or  items...... and will probably claim to be a re-seller or agent for someone else. If any of these things are in an E-mail you receive you have a scammer on your hands!

Additionally, if the buyer is claiming he is at sea at the moment and has limited access to the internet, it is a scam. They will most likely be using a free E-mail service as well. Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail are common ones but there are many more worldwide. If you do not recognize the domain of the E-mail (the part after the @) just copy and paste it into your browser and go check it out. If it is a free service be very wary.

Same here.  Posted a motorcycle for sale on Kijiji yesterday received a text from "davidattwood01@gmail.com" offering $700 above listed price as well.  Apparently related to:

626-246-6195 - maxmoodyx@blumail.org. Wants bike asap...out of country

570-805-0096 sobrinhopaul@gmail.com. Wants bike right away...out of country.

Why would someone in North Carolina want to buy a bike for $700 more than asking price with the bike located in Manitoba Canada?  Obviously a scam!!!!!!

I had a phishing SMS from this number. Saying that they wanted to buy my bike right away and pay $700 more than I was asking and asked me to email them.

I suspect a scam.
