Months ago I reported several numbers to FCC only to receive a message that I should send these complaints to my state, I am on the do Not Call list for Federal and State

I talked to someone in my state of Tennessee and he advised me to complete their online forms and they would do everything they could to stop the calls, I filled out 15 forms and that is not even all the calls I have received.

He also told me  to never push the number to be taken off their call list, he said it just makes it worse.

I am anxious to see what happens now

Seriously?  You actually expect to get something from the government for your tax dollars?  In their world, you're lucky they let you keep any of your income.

There is a way to get their real name and number but it takes a lot of time and effort...
You have to answer the phone, actually talk to someone, and act really interested!

When you get a live person on the line who wants to sell you something, act really interested but say you were just heading out the door when the phone rang - and you really don't have time to talk right now.

Ask for a phone number to call them back.  They may have an excuse for not giving you their legitimate number, so you might have to agree to let them call you back.  Make an appointment to take their call... Try asking what number or name they'll be calling from so you'll recognize the call when it comes in.  Tell them you?re so grateful they called because you were just thinking about looking for (whatever it is they?re selling).

Keep a fake name and address taped near your phone so when they ask for your information, you can give them something and it will sound natural when you say it.  Do not give out any financial information ? Keep stalling that conversation by saying you're really interested but you just want to make sure.  Ask a lot of questions about their product and also ask about what it will really cost.  To prove you?re legit and not just stringing them along, ask if there are any internet coupons to get a better deal, or if you can opt out of certain features to save money? Ask about a warranty (and who would you call if their product doesn?t work?!!), etc ? the kinds of questions you?d really be asking if you were thinking of spending real money.

Lack of concern about the cost is one of their tip-offs that you are not legit.  They're very suspicious about getting caught, so you have to sound legitimately interested... but the taste of 'easy prey' on the line will keep them coming back - otherwise they wouldn't be doing this if no one was ever stupid enough to buy their product.

Document the date and time of each call, whom you spoke with, and how long you spoke for.  The more information you can document for the FCC, the better.

Eventually you will get some legitimate names and phone numbers of real people there - info you can use to go to the FCC with.  Without this kind of actual info, there's little the FCC can do with our complaints.

If it ever comes out in the conversation that you are filing a complaint and they know you've got their real info, they will probably tell you some lie about how they're actually a church-going head of household with hungry children to feed and they're sorry but they really need this job, "so please don't turn me in!".  Don't believe them - It's all B.S.  They hate your guts and love to put one over on you!  That?s the kinds of people who get hired to work these boiler rooms!

I sat next to a boiler room manager on a flight once and I asked him where he finds people willing to work such miserable jobs.  He said, "Oh, that's easy! - I just look for people covered with body piercing and scary tattoos - people whose personality wants to tell everyone else in society ?Screw-you, I don't give a damn what you think!"... in fact, the more you tell them "No", the more motivated they are.  Cursing at them on the phone only makes their day!"  In their world, they already think you're stupid before they ever called you, so it's easy to convince them you are stupid enough to want their product.

If everyone who posts here did it just once, we could put a huge dent in the scam-caller industry!

I received a call this morning and when they heard it was my answering machine they just hung up. I have been many call like this one from all over the U.S. and getting real tired of it. Our FTC needs to do something about it. When we report the call we never hear back about what we reported. That is what we are paying our taxes for!!!!

The "no call list" is just that, a "list." It is an unenforceable list created by the government to ensure government jobs. They "do not" pursue anything against those that do not abide by the "no call list."... it is purely voluntary on the part of the individual company. Don't count on any action by "GOVERNMENT." They use our tax dollars to pay government workers to keep the list, but beyond that, there is no enforcement.... there has never been any government intervention to protect the tax payer, and never will be.

Received this call while already on the phone. I'm glad I was too busy to take this call. I'm now at the point I won't answer unrecognized numbers. If it's important, they will leave a message or contact me in an alternate fashion.

It's raining today...somewhere... but the shelters don't open until dark so they've gotta go somewhere.  What better thing to do than try to make a dollar as a telemarketer. Had three calls yesterday and two so far this morning. Maybe the sun will come out and they can go back to panhandling in the park.

I agree - I put my number on the NO CALL LIST a long time ago and I just got a call from that number! Caller ID is the best thing ever invented for those unwanted calls. I did answer this time because I was curious. I didn't get any response at all.

Called me, I hung up instantly.  I am so tired that DO NOT CALL LIST  can't prevent this harassment.  They are calling from all over the country.  So the FCC can't do anything about this?  Telephone companies should do something about this.  Where are they getting these bogus numbers?

Same calls as everybody else.  I even reported them to the Washington Attorney General's office and they told me they couldn't do anything about it.  This isn't the only scam these people are promoting.  Anybody living in the Seattle area care to find the physical location of these jerks and visit a little physical violence on them in retaliation for all the inconvenience they are perpetrating on thousands of citizens?  Apparently the Government is unable to do anything about it.

I have Comcast also and got the same garbage message.  The best thing we can all do is make sure our phone numbers are on the Do Not Call Registry- located at: https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx -
apparently, the listing had run out so I re-listed all of our numbers again.

People why do you think that you have a choice about who calls your phone?
Is it because you are on a DO NOT CALL list?
Let me tell you that list IS where these companies get your number from.
Yes they have other sources to get phones numbers from but DNC is the
main one.
Just give up the fight and let anyone call you because you cant win a fight against an unknown enemy.

Do not call list is a joke and reporting to FCC , FDC or whatever is useless. Don't answer if you don' recognize the #. If you do ans. and If you get a "live person" on the line blow a loud whistle in their ear.  It worked for me on one annoying caller.

You can report them if you're on the do not call list at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/Mobile/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2 it's very short & simple. They've been calling me also. They can be fined for each call they make to someone on the list.
