This is indeed a scam. I would not call the number either. Block the sender and do not reply.

Just got a text from 253 802 8948 saying to call to activate card. Did not call this looks like a scan to get info

same thing here, didnt call the number, but have been getting weird texts all day, saying card activation isnt working etc, have alerted verizon wireless and they are tracking from the fraud prevention department

They send u a text or phone saying your card needs to be activated. then they ask for your zipcode and then for full 16 digits of credit/debit card. DO NOT GIVE ANY INFO! IT IS A SCAM!
