Got a message from this number saying he was the sheriff and he was going to come to my home or my work and arrest me because I owed more than $5000. I have no idea who this person is, but I do not want to call him back. He had my ss#. Is it safe to assume this is a scam? How can people get away with this, it was very frightening and also has me furious. How do I stop this?

Alex. So he said his name was. And jack morris. I was told the sheriffs department was waiting on a warrant to pick me up. But I could stop the process with the court if I paid $1100. I also had to fax a letter stating that this company could pay my debitors. Which of course I did this. This is a bogus company.

Called with aggressive tone for one of our employees who works out in the field. Said they are with "Cyber Crimes". Every search for the number shows they are calling people and telling them they are going to be arrested at their place of work, if they don't give them their credit card information.

They sound middle eastern, have a thick hard to understand accents,  and have typical American names like ?Andy?, ?Jason?, ?Matt?, and ?John?, even though it is the same person half the time. They are very rude on the phone. Keep telling me it is business matter, but when I ask them what it has to do with our company,they huff and puff then start screaming ?MAM MAM, YOU LISTEN TO ME AND GIVE HIM THE MESSAGE!? I tell them everytime not to call here, then they start arguing with me to give them the employees information which I will not. I hang up on them and they'll call back. this number needs to be investagated and put to a stop.

I received a called from cyber something saying that i had criminal allegations against me...

They tried to get me to verify my s.s. number then when i refused they said ppl would be coming to arrest me. An obvious scam but illegal with they are doing nonetheless.

They called my cell phone from a number that showed up on my caller id as: 2080023.

Their apparent "supervisor" got on the phone and tried to pursuede me to give up my s.s. number and when i again refused they said i could call them back at: 253-243-2643.

Watch out ppl. this is getting more and more common

wow i was contacted at work and my personal phone by the same person charlie mason saying i shold call him back or there will be consequenses... i called back because it was a message left for me to call back but the number is not a working number..

This man Charlie Mason called me today and said the same thing. He said that he was calling from a sheriff's office with the state of North Carolina. Someone on this site said that it is a scam that the information has been sold to some kind of internet scams.

yep same thing is going on with me. don't believe it. instead have fun with them. i have some fun novelties with sarcastic sayings and recording that i use in respose to them. they become rude and mad when i tell them that they are full of s*** and i know its a scam. real debt collecters can't arrest you. they just want to scare you so you give them money and they wipe out your bank account. its fake "legalese" . i told them to go ahead and arrest me or do what ever...when they realised they weren't gonna get anything from me, they finally stopped.

I received a phone message both at home and at work that they were caling me with an urgent matter that I should not disregard this call that they had my last four of my social and that they were going to arrest me either at home or at work.  It frightened my family and me as well I have been worried sick wondering what this is all about until i got on line and found out this is a scam how can people do this and not get caught someone needs to stop this people it is a very scary situation.  who can help on this matter who do we report it to? This inspector Chris williams is a phony but very threatning and scarey!

and He said his name was Charlie Mason with the State of Colorado High Aligations Dept.  And that Sheriff Dept would be out to pick me up???  Someone please help!!

Threatened me and two of my siblings that we would be taken into custody and he had my social SS hte number to call back is FALSE.. WHAT are people doing about this?

Got a call from this number today saying he was Kent Williams (I wonder if it is any coincidence that he has the same last name as me) and said a lawsuit was taken out under my social.  If I did not return the call that day then I would be picked up by law enforcement officers as well as my sister the next day either at my place of residence or work.  They have called several times a day using a fax number and leaving on the message the number 253-243-2643 to call back at both work (which is not allowed and has been reported) as well as my home number.  People, these are scam artists.  If you took out a payday loan via the net, then someone leaked your info and sold it to these scumbags.  Do not give them a call back!  They will take you for any amount of cash they can get from you.  I have several different numbers from "agencies" calling me and threatening.  Each has been reported to the police and a complaint has been filed via the attorney general.

also got a voice msg from this number saying they were from a cyber crime office. they wanted me to call them back ASAP or else they would send the proper officials to arrest me either at work or at my home. also said they would put me in jail from 2 to 6 months! i tried to call the number back and there was no answer, not even a voice mail. im scared but at the back of my head i want to believe its a scam! how do i find out?
