Called at 4:18 in the morning! Illegal!
Janet 2011-06-06 20:44:17 Unknown
I just received a call with the same information. The guy on the other end asked me if I received a little red phone book left at my home within the last couple of weeks. I said, yes, I think so. Then he said, Is your adress still...he recited my address. I,not really thinking, said yes. Then he said is your name Janet. Once again, not really thinking, said yes. Then he saids thanks and hung up. If I had it to do over, I wouldn't confirm anything.

"A reasonable suggestion - both for them and for us - is for them to insist that the robocaller sub-contractors STOP their current practices (no answer, no message) and that whenever they call a number they either stay on the line and actually talk to a person there, or, they leave a clear, brief message IDing themselves, their company ("VOLT" or "Your Community Book," whatever), and providing a toll-free "call back" number, where you can either confirm or refute delivery of their phonebook, AND - most importantly - where you can opt out from any future calls from them by "pressing 1" or something similar."
Actually, a more reasonable suggestion is that they find another way of auditing their operations. The only reason to do it the way they are doing it is to build their marketing lists for resale, there's a reason why normal businesses do not mass call total strangers over insignificant events. The costs involved in the phone-intensive method they use must exceed their total profit from producing phone books, assuming they actually do that.
Which isn't a safe assumption since this is NOT the first "confirm your PB delivery" call I've gotten and previous calls have been from a different company.

253 248-6412 called me twice today, once at 3am. left no message when I didn't pick up a second time.

Caller ID'd as "Your CB" I expect it's an abbreviated version of "Your Community Book," which is the small phonebook thrown onto your curb each year by: YPG Directories, LLC, division of Yellow Pages Group Co. in Canada and YPG Directories, LLC in the United States.
Their website is at http://www.yourcommunity.com/ and on their website's "Contact Us" tab is a link to their "Feedback Form" which you can use to complain to them about the invasive and offensive practices of their delivery follow-up robodialer sub-contractor. You might also point out that the current practices of those sub-contractors is counter-productive, ineffectual, inefficient, and - a waste of THEIR money! You KNOW the robocallers are getting paid for every call them make (dial + connect, whether they actually answer you or leave a message or anything) - NOT for the number of actual contacts and confirmations of delivery they make. If the latter were the case, they'd talk to you when you answer their call and confirm delivery of the book. So - the robocallers are not only angering almost everyone with their invasive, non-functional calls - they're ripping off YPG Directories, LLC who hired them!
A reasonable suggestion - both for them and for us - is for them to insist that the robocaller sub-contractors STOP their current practices (no answer, no message) and that whenever they call a number they either stay on the line and actually talk to a person there, or, they leave a clear, brief message IDing themselves, their company ("VOLT" or "Your Community Book," whatever), and providing a toll-free "call back" number, where you can either confirm or refute delivery of their phonebook, AND - most importantly - where you can opt out from any future calls from them by "pressing 1" or something similar.
That's a potential win-win:
? We either stop the robocallers from calling again or simply confirm or deny we got the phone book;
? YPG Directories actually gets true value for their money with valid confirmation their deliveries were or were not done properly.
? As a large side benefit, the robocaller sub-contractors are forced to actually do their job and not just "go through the motions," anger everyone, and rip off YPG.
You can also contact them by phone or mail at their corporate headquarters:
Your Community PhoneBook
Suite 1000,
One Sentry Parkway
Blue Bell PA 19422
I'm going to the YPG website and send them my comments and suggestions (above). I would recommend several others do likewise. Please don't be abusive. I think the company is actually a good one and will respond to reasonable complaints; they just have some bad sub-contractors who are ripping them off and invading our phone privacy. Be nice ... it's more effective!

Karen 2010-06-18 17:19:11 Unknown
Caller Id says YOUR CB. Why do we even have answering machines or voicemail. Leave a message and we'll call you back ,well probably not but still, just leave message.
Emily 2010-06-17 20:17:35 Unknown
Some types of phones already provide number blocking.
I've blocked a number of charities and a couple of scammer groups.

I have seen this number on my caller ID for the last several days. I have not answered. Thanks for the info I have read here. If we are on DO NOT CALL list. Why are they calling?
LAMET 2010-03-15 18:33:01 Unknown
THAT'S TRUE the problem is
MOST PEOPLE WILL NEVER EVER FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT
As it is A LOT of people who POST here assume they are filing formal complaints with the government or that 800notes is somehow responsible for fixing it for them!

Got call from these sobs. They hung up when I answered. Probably Robo Call from Canada with fake Caller ID number. I called the number and they said something about Internet Information. I left them a message of what I thought about them.
Kingofcalls 2010-01-15 10:35:06 Unknown
Same thing here YOUR CB. I really wish these weasles would simply leave a message on my answering machine. Otherwise, don't waste your time. There are new services on the horizon that will allow people to block specific phone numbers (already available on some cell services). Of course, it won't help much for those "scramble" dialer systems. This is where the government can easily help by banning phone number scrambler systems (random number shows for each dial out).
