I had gotten a call from 202-499-1578 someone stop them now! The offer was 7000 from the help foundation

My husband and I received a similar call. They will tell u that u don't hav any kind of background, then ur physical address. In addition, they calling from "Washington" but when u ask for phone number or address...they can tell u..they will continuing say "we are calling from a federal office in Washington and just want to give u $7,000 for ur school, this is a grant for u, but u need to provide them ur bank account or ur credit account." Yes a credit card, ridiculous.

People BECAREFUL ... This is a SCAM.

Someone called me on my phone and told me that my number is picked up for $7000 for no criminal record.
She said she is calling from Federal government.They asked me to call this number 2068665663 and give the confirmation number.

Omg they called me today!! I'm from Mississippi so I know this scam is spreading they got all my information and everything is there any way I CAN SUE THEM???????

Different number, same scam.  Guy I could barely understand called from 253-232-7516.  Background noise sounded like he was calling from Grand Central Station at rush hour.  Said I had been selected for $7,000 grant from US Gov't.  Verified my name and address (which I knew anyone could get easily anyway) and, surprising only asked if I had any BK's or convictions in the last six months and how I'd like to receive the money: checking account, MasterCard, Visa or cash.  I answered Visa card.  Then offered that his manager Chris Watson would be waiting for my call to 202-407-9845 to get the rest of information needed to release my grant money.  That's as far as I needed to go.

I'm getting the same calls from various #'s 202-580-8490...202-657-6255 names being used here are Dalip Singh, Nigel Stevenson and David no last name given...When I pulled up the INDO american charity foundation web site the name  Bob Singh appears as the PAST president.  I waited for them to call me back again and when the # showed up on my caller ID I recorded the conversation.  These people are sick for doing these types of things..I was told I was chosen for the grant of 7000.00 because I have a disabled small child in my single parent home etc.....J O's,,FBI is gonna love me...beings that I have there whole speel on tape! Merry Christmas to all...

The same thing just happened to me. The first call was from a 303 number, then she asked for my address and account info. I gave a an accoutrements number from an overdrawn account that I don't use anyway. She gave me a (202) area code number to call and her "manager"  would give me a government grant of $7000.00. I called the number and the manager asked me for my conformation number and then asked me to call her back in 5 minutes because she was on he phone with someone else. I asked why I should call her back because it sounded like a scam. She the. Got defensive and started yelling at me saying that she was trying to help me out and hung up in my face! Lol What a LAME!

This scam is still up and running. Just got a call from a 202 number. His accent was so unintellieble that I couldn't even understand his name. But based on my address and phone number, and having paid bills on time with no bankruptcy to my name and no criminal record, I was eligible to receive a once in a lifetime government grant for $7,000. This money was recommended for use in paying off bills or buying a car, etc.  He just needed to fill out some info on me and then I would get my grant number and a number to call for the finance department. I kept saying it sounded really strange and I would like to call back - but he wouldn't give me a number to call until I filled out my form, starting with my birthday. So I asked him to mail me something - which he said he couldn't do. So I told him I was pretty sure the government would be willing to mail me something about this. No grant for me... Damn scammers!

Same thing just happened to me. One Asian or Indian woman called and said I was to be rewarded with a $7000 grant from the dept. of U.S. Treasury. I almost fell for it. But when I called the number back for the Indo-Asian guy to confirm, he said I had to donate $120 to the Indo-American Foundation at western union within the hour. Not happening, though as I am not in California today but in Mexico. Besides the fact that I don't have it. This sounds like the same 2 people, one female foreigner then the male confirmation number @ #202-370-7640 speaks well enough English but is obviously foreign as well. I told him I would do it. knowing I won't, just want to wait 10 minutes and call him back to tell him he's been found fraudulent by the FBI and US government, then see his reaction...lol...they must think I'm stupid. I record all calls on my computer, so if it gets down to it they will have to keep moving and changing their #'s. Which can be tracked down to his IP address. Nice way to wake up on a Saturday morning. :)

there's not only the 253 number calling people,its also 206-317-3861,the lady's name is christian casper and telling people that they need to send $99 to indo american foundation by western union to get ur grant money of $ 7,000 dollars..

today about 3:54 pm i rec'd a call from a woman calling her self tracy and that i was selected to recieve a$7,000 govt grant because i pay my bills right, and have not filed for bankructy and do not have a criminal record, the # i was given for ID 146 and to call 1-2020621-0971 to confirm and they will release the cash where ever i say and then she said do not use the grant money in the wrong way but to pay my bills, or for education this is trully a scam i recognized it when i said send me the check in the mail then she said now a days we do not send checks in the mail. i called and a guy answered, but when i told him why iwas calling he hung up and when i tried to call back 3 times he just let the phone ring.I hope the govt give them some justice that they trully deserve. not stupid @ all

same thing happened to me as above...i tried to scam him back with a wrong receipt no to make him convince i made the donation, but he hung up...

SO people please be beware of this bastards..

One way to combat these crooks: When your phone rings and they start their chat, just say politely,
"Can you hold on for a second, please?". If you have a mute button on your phone, hit it, then walk away, leaving them hanging on which is costing them. Do this every time they call, they will SOOn get sick of losing money. If the call is coming from India there is little the local authorities can do to stop them. NEVER, EVER give them ANY personal information. and remember this

There's no such thing as a free lunch. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

I just read most of the scam reports and the call I got sounded nearly the same, but a different phone #. I was given 202 357 6780. I was offered a $7000 grand, no need to repay, must be used for taxes are a major purchase which would help the ecomony. They verified my name and address, then I stopped answering and ask for her phone #, name (Jessica), her supervisores name (Tracy Ross), and was given a confirmation # if I would just answer a few more questions.I told her I would call the number she gave and give them the info if it seemed appropriate. Jessica wasn't happy. I hung up and called the phone # given, needless to say it was a disconnected #. Fortunately I did not give her any info that might be helpful to someone trying to create a fraudulent incident.

Wow it is the same thing everywhere I have received the same thing and I just listened to everything that he had to say and as soon as I told him that I am recording this conversation and that I will report him to fbi he hung up the phone and called me the next day telling to be aware of scam artist out there but can you please make a donation to india for 99 dollars I just hung up and till today he never called back

i got this phone call from a james boston with anmerican law firm so he said??? he said that they were pressing charges aganist me  for not having fund in my account for some cash advance that was on the internet i call the police cause this would not stop calling me. i had a call form that same $5000 grant thing a while back and now i had this guy call me from this number 1-760-514-0111 and also when he called back it was this number +05-258-3941 and this number +05-256-5563 this guy custed me and every thing

On June 12, 2009 Shannon Shelton called me and said I was eligible for a grant of $8000, I asked her for the address and she gave me 200 Independence, Washington, DC 20201 then gave me a confirm # and she then asked for my birthday and i told her if she was with the government she should know it. I then called this number to see who it was and spoke to a woman then to a man named Frank and he said to get the grant I would have to make a donation to a charity which was overseas to send $99 dollars to Amil Mittal, India Delhi to Western Union the money then call him back, I never had any intensions of doing this because I figured it was a scam.  I wish we could turn these people in!

this happen to me today as well. i could hardly understand a word they said. ask me about my birth date and every thing. they had said i was able to recive 5000 dollers. man now im scard

oh god...this scam is just spreading like anything....i got this call a few minutes b4 and she said i am eligible to receive $5000 that i shouldnot use for illegal purposes. she asked for my account details and since i didnt have one , she just asked to call back this number to get the check no. god,i am scared too.

My husband JUST called me from work and said that a
Michelle Wilson from the US Government Grant Dept just called him on his cell phone and said that he had gotten a grant that he had applied for on the internet, which he had done, anyways it was in the ammount of $5000 dollars and that they needed his account number to deposit the funds... he GAVE it to them!!! He also gave them his address, middle name, date of birth and last 4 digits of his SS#, OMG!!! At the end of the call they said that he needed to make a charity donation of $99 to an overseas charity and they gave him this name, Sacish Kumar in Delhi India and that he was to send the $99 ASAP by Western Union. He said he asked them what do I have to do that for? And they told him that it shows the government that you are willing to help others that are less fortunate, just as the government is going to do for you! Well needless to say I was MAD! And immediatly knew it was a SCAM! He is now on the phone with our bank. WATCH OUT!!!

I recive a phone call from Jackline with ID JK9854 and confirmation number 8543G. I recently applied for the government grant and some how she got all information.  She told me that she is verifying the application and I need to tell her last four of my SSN and I gave my last 4 digit OMG, I shouldn't do that!!!, then she told me my birth date and address and all other info. After that she told me that your call is recorded and say Yes or No only for the verification of your address.

Today I just wanted to make sure regarding the phone call and I just Google this number 253-292-2589 and found the scam. I am not sure what she is going to do with my last 4 digit of the SSN.

Do I need to report this as a Scam to the credit union and IRS and terminate the SSN and ask for new?

She also asked my bank account number to deposit the fund, but I told her that you can send me the check.  I don't think, I need to give you the bank account number.

Beware of such Scam.  Not sure, how much I am in trouble at this moment!!!!

I received a call from a Jacquelyn ID #JK9854 who also offered a $7,000 government grant. I was to call back 253-292-2589.  When I found this information on line I told her I didn't intend to make a contribution to any overseas charity and hung up.

Same thing - Dude calls me ans says I was selected to get $7,000, all I had to do was Western Union some money to Akash Akash in India, Delhi ($99, also) Then he tells me to confirm by calling: 1 802-375-7441 and giving them my Grant Acceptance # DV___ ,  wow almost bought it, but the ya he says the money will go to the Indo American Charity Foundation.....

Just received a call from Steve Walls and he said he was from the US Gov't Grant department and that we were selected to receive a $5000 grant. He verified my address, name, b-day and last 4 of my SSN. He wanted to know which account i wanted my money to go to and I gave him a prepaid debit card # bc i wasn't sure if this was real....well it is a scam. William called me back today and said that in order to get the $5000 i had to make a small donation to an overseas charity, showing that i was willing to help the less fortunate and i would then get the money. I am really scared now and hope that nothing bad happens to my account information or my identity.

Just received a call from John Adams and he said he was from the US Gov't Grant department and that I was selected to receive a $7000 grant. He verified my address, name, b-day. He wanted to know which account I wanted my money to go to my bank acct to get the funds wired too or a debit card acct. To me they were of the same account and was not giving anyone that information. So he opted to say that they can send the funds via Certified Mail via FEDEX by next business day which I said okay.

The next process was for me to call back the following number (202)684-6892 and give them my Grant Confirmation# which I did and spoke with another Indian personnel he wanted to verify what the first person had went over with me then sprung the news about the donation to the Indo American Foundation I had asked for their website and was told that it was under construction. I so happen to be sitting next to my computer and googled the foundation to see that it came up down in Houston Texas so I sat here and was calling the numbers of the President and other members of course some of the numbers were disconnected or no answer.

I was told that the funds $99 must be sent via Western Union I said well my car is out of commission at the moment but as soon as I can get to the Western Union then I will make the donation. This is not what he wanted to hear he started getting loud and starting talking over me and right then I knew it was a scam. He mentioned that they will be closed until Jan 2nd 2010 and to call after that date to try and get the funds at the point. Callers beware of this scam if the Government was going to send out a grant to us there would be some posting about donations to help the people here in the states that are suffering due to this economy I rather help my own people that are less fortunate then some other 3rd world country.

mom always said if it was too good to be true....yeah well these idiots called the wrong lady. Gave them nothing but this needs to stop. What number do we call to report this scam? I got the same story on the phone as everyone else here. same number to call 202-684-6892

I gave them only my name and address, told them if they wanted to mail me a check that would be fine. I am unemployed...I have nothing, what can they take, my identity? Good I was wanting to be a no one these days!
