I've gotten a bunch of half-calls lately; this is when the pre-recorded message starts mid-message. So I don't know what they're selling, other than to call for free.  I'm on the DO NOT CALL lists, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.  Calling them back I got a message saying that this number is disconnected, but that it pertains to Pacific Telecommunications Group.

There are endless ways for these low-life, bottom-feeding 'business' people to get around the system, trying to outsmart the customers they want to attract.  I've sent countless complaints by phone, through the automated complaint line for (FTC?), but the calls continue--maybe from a different party, but annoying 100%.

My opinion is that we, the ordinary citizens, need to get involved, becoming more involved with how this country operates.  There is a lot of good, but a lot is old and needs to be brought up to speed with today's reality.  In other words, we need to vote in politicians who are looking to work for the betterment of the people, and not just serve their own needs (and those of friends and allies).

If we allow politicians who have ulterior motives to make decisions for us, we end up with complicated, tricky laws, by-laws, regulations--all of that nonsense, and much of it doesn't even make any sense.  If the FTC isn't doing anything about irritating and/or harassing, unsolicited phone calls, we need to start checking into the FTC.  And who/what is above them, etc.

In my opinion, politics is very much involved, and MAYBE we can start to change things--albeit very slowly, through getting involved in electing the right officials--at all levels.

I apologize for the soapbox stand, but I know I'm not alone in being fed-up with these kind of businesses.  The fact that our own gov't (local or federal) doesn't seem that interested in helping us out doesn't help.  As someone posted earlier, stop phone service to get the phone company to work against this problem, but that takes a lot of patience and ability to play around with different phone companies.  Get good, straight-shooting politicians to chop through all this gobblety-gook, and start fixing up what's messed up in our system.  A lot of this crud didn't exist years ago, at least not to this extent.  We need to write in new laws to fit what life is about NOW.  Period.

calls several times a week. We have caller ID and do not answer.
Caller: N Servicing

Couple things you can do:

*Hang up
*Check who is calling and never answer a call from that number again.(Look at your caller id)
*Tell them you're a convicted felon (Courtesy of Wendy)
*Tell them to please stop calling
*Quit giving out your phone number to anyone that you would not want to here from or that may potentially sell your number
*Pick your battles
*Don't let telemarketers and a ringing phone control your happiness.
*Stop getting so pissed off and allowing these people to ruin your lives. If you don't have the time for this, how do you have time to find out how to sue them, etc.
*Quit whining
and lastly,
*Find something better to do.

>>  This is harassment.. Anyone know how I can sue or prosecute them?  <<

Hello, Annoyed  --

Call your telephone provider.  Tell them you are being harrassed and would like the instructions and "Star Code" for Call Trace. Then, when you get one of the "harrassing" calls, follow the direction to trigger Call Trace. The phone company's equipment should capture tha actual number and call information, but will NOT display it to you.  Then, contact your local police department to file a formal complaint. The phone company WILL provide the captured information to law enforcement agencies in response to the investigation of a formal complaint [or, at least they say that they will].  Be aware that a single violation of Do Not Call by a particular solicitor does not constitute harrassment....but a repeated pattern of such calls from the same source can qualify.

All it leaves on my voice mail is a recording that says the system is no cost to me.  And I'm like thinking what system it doesn't even say what there selling. Just that it's no cost to me. It's hard to believe someone would give me a free something worth lots of money if they don't make any money. And they call several times a week. just to give me their stuff free if their not making any money? It's hard to believe. They keep calling but I never call back. Who would call back so many times just to harass people to take their free stuff if their not making money?

i didnt answer, they did not leave a message.
these call are just scams, blocking or reporting the number doesnt help because they just change the number and keep calling.
Dont answer these calls, and dont call them back. when you answer, or call back, or talk to someone, or press 9 to be added to their do not call list - that just lets them know that your number is a working number. then they flag it is as a working number. therefore you will get repeated calls from them and all their scam buddies. because it is an illegal operation and they change numbers and stories often (free alarm system scam, credit card interest rate lowering scam, we will pray with you scam, donation scam, free cruise scam, problem with you accont scam, ect) they DO NOT CARE about the do not call list. they call as many people as the can, changing the story on occasion just to scam an unsuspecting person out of money. the more people they call, the more chances they have of stealing from us.
every number called by the robo callers that dead end gets tossed out, and the ones flagged as working(casue you called back or answered) get stored, passed around illegally, and worst of all - called repeatedly.
BEST ADVICE - NEVER MAKE ANY MONETARY TRANSACTION  OVER THE PHONE, EVER. ESPECIALLY IF THEY CALLED YOU. and dont ever give out personal or financial info over the phone, especially if they called you. SIMPLY, IF THEY CALLED YOU - YOU REALLY DONT KNOW WHO YOU ARE TALKING TO.

if everyone STOPS making monetay transaction over the phone - this will stop. if they never make any money this way, it will stop because it will never pay off.
Even if a charity calls, and you are interested, DONT GIVE MONEY OVER THE PHONE. have them mail you donation paperwork and verify its valid. if they refuse to do this it is most likely a SCAM.

NO MONEY OVER THE PHONE - MEANS NO MORE CALLS (YEAH) from these scam, telemarketer, timeshare, ect scumbags.

This number 253-382-9047 called my house but I do not answer the call. They left a message offering a security system. By curiosity I called back and a message said it was from the Rite Aid pharmacy. Beware of such calls and the information you give because I believe this is a fraudulent call.

They called just before 9 pm eastern time.  My caller ID said 253-382-9047 Service Call.  When I answered, they played a robotic message about the FBI reporting a break in every 15 seconds and if I would allow them to place a small sign in my yard, I'd get a free system.

I pushed 1 to try to identify the company calling and the phone rang about 10 times and a robotic message then came on and said Customer Service is not available and they hung up on me!

The best way to deal with these spam calls is to answer the phone, and keep them on as long as possible... Give them all the information they request, but fake it. Give a fake address, a fake name, fake everything they ask for.  These spammers are able to make money because they use computers to make mass call-outs, and the calls only get switched to actual humans for the very small percent of calls do not get hung up before they are switched to a human.  If everyone answered these calls, and takes just a few minutes talking to a real person, it will be too expensive for them to keep doing this.
The Do Not Call list is a waste of time, a joke. And reporting to the FCC won't do anything either.  Just answer the call, talk to a real person, keep them on the line, give them fake information, and they won't be able to keep this up.

Since this is a robotic solicitation to numbers that are obviously on the Do Not Call list, it is strongly recommended that each and every one of you file a complaint at https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx because the more people who do, the more evidence the government has to go after these scofflaws.
