This BBB call is a racket. It is all about getting money. Anyone can buy their way in. When you see a BBB membership plaque at a business it means nothing.
Many people run to the BBB if they have been scammed. The BBB has NO legal authority to do anything. The BBB is a scam. And yes they do lie.

Just because it is the BBB does not mean it's not a solicitation call.
I got a cold call from them yesterday. After massaging my ego and telling me about how my business is going to be listed they asked me for a $750 payment for my first year's listing.
Wanted me to give them my credit card number over the phone. Gave me the high-pressure now-now-now routine, it's really extortion to avoid a low rating from their racket.
Non-profit organization indeed, at $750 per member for a listing on a website that costs probably $125 per year to keep online.
