I have ATT and have never had business with Verison. Sounds like the number has been SPOOFED. I've blocked the number.

That number is an call center outsourced to Verizon. It is located in the Seattle, WA area. That is the number that will appear on your phone if they have to call you back for any reason, normally while you are activating a phone and have called in on the device, or if you called and can't verify the security questions and they need to contact the account owner.
I work in that center, and I know.

Yeah, I noticed that ladies son was a girl too. Scammers mess up eventually.

I got a call from this number at 9:30 at night. Left a message saying they were calling because they received a dropped call from my phone and wanted to see if I needed anything. Really? I never called them, so I don't know how they could have had a dropped call from my phone. You people really call back every customer that drops a call with you.
I never drop calls, by the way...

They called. I could not answer. The number displayed. A supposed message was left. No actual message was left, but in the background of the supposed message I overheard a conversation which was from 12/13/13 (Today is 12/17). The conversation was familiar to me, because it was one that I had with someone that day right after a collision. The supposed recorded message from 253-835-5540 was a recording that occured in public, inside or near a body shop. Weird. I never gave permission to be recorded...

It is a Verizon wireless customer service number
Rachele 2013-10-02 16:12:36 Unknown
This number is definitely a scam....I called Verizon directly, and they told me that they have no association with this number what so ever....I don't understand why any of you people would be silly enough to give your personal passwords to someone over the phone. You are just asking to be scammed.
Lori 2013-09-04 13:44:33 Unknown
Sounds like scam to me. Calling to verify somebody I don't know. Then wanting me to give out my account number with T-Mobile. I don't think so. Says they are Verizon wanting to verify info.
susanne 2013-08-23 20:36:11 Unknown
you are right/ customer service.

Supposedly someone with a hearing impairment was trying to access my account. So this number claiming to be from Verizon called me to authorize a user. Being suspicious I said no to authorizing this person. Later I called Verizon and they said they have no affiliation with this number and it is actually a cell phone number.

I had called *611 for customer service when I lost signal, I was immediately called back on this number and asked by a customer service rep how they could help me. Then solved the issue I was having.
I'm sure they use this number for many purposes.

On a National NO call list, why is this # calling me????
B.D. 2012-12-11 18:37:12 Unknown
This is Verizon. It is not a scam. The family plan is under my number, and my wife was attempting upgrades to smart phone.ss. They had to call my number to verify that it was okay. It is a pain when they do that, but they feel they are being cautious and making sure you are not scammed.
Paul 2012-11-08 16:41:11 Unknown
In my case, it was a legit VZW customer service number. The caller left a message. She was a very helpful representative that had helped me with an issue previously, and she was calling to follow up.

I sure hope this is not happening to me. My husband lives in Iowa away from me as I am in a different for a job assignment he called me from the same number. It was odd as he did not pick up any of his calls for three days, said he left his phone in his truck that was parked at a friends house so he could get a ride back home safely by a designated driver after drinking. I just thought it was odd. That is way I am searching the number.

Its Verizon Wireless
Dick 2012-06-21 21:30:44 Unknown
Careful.... I have a 95 minute call from VZW that came in from this number and they billed the minutes against my plan.. I had already reached my minutes so this call was a $36 call.
MaryG59 2012-06-07 04:50:32 Unknown
This number called twice and the first time they called the man asked for Rebecca, Informed him that he had the wrong number and then he asked if my number was 505-240-7852, I told him no that was not my number and then he called right back and asked for somebody else, Then asked me if my number was a different 505 number and i told him what my number was, then he said he was sorry that for some reason calls to the other numbers were being routed to my number.
Then Verizon Wireless called about 3 minutes later and told that for some reason those calls for the other numbers were being routed to my phone. They would get it fixed immediately.

This number is legitimate. My husband had an issue with billing and dialed *611 from his phone, which plugs you direct to VerizonWireless customer service. They had to call my number, while he was on the line, so that I could verify that he was authorized on the account. It was legitimate - I got the same text message, from the same Verizon number that lets me know how much data I've used, letting me know that I had just authorized someone on my account.

confusedchick 2012-04-05 19:10:46 Unknown

Good eyes there. WTG. Catch all these fake scammer posts trying to legitimize a number.
pissed 2012-03-21 17:59:52 Unknown
Wow, these scammers have some nerve! They are even posting fake messages here. Look at the message history:
"Brian K.
12 May 2010
This is an outgoing number for Verizon. My wife was at their store because she was having an issue with her phone, and they called me to verify who she was and our account password (that she forgot). The customer service representative was very helpful. It took a minute or two to go through the whole process. This is not a scam number."
And then
"Angie
3 Dec 2011
This is an outgoing number for Verizon. My son was was having an issue with his phone, and they called me to verify who she was and our account password (that she forgot). The customer service representative was very helpful. It took a minute or two to go through the whole process. This is not a scam number."
Really, Angie? Your SON is a SHE? You F***N SCAMMER! Copy-pasted fake message trying to legitimize this number.
I don't even have an account with Verizon. I bet Verizon is calling me about my daughter because he forgot his password. Oh wait, that would be "she" this time...
I've been on "do not call" for years. It used to work, no calls. But since last few months I'm getting more and more scam calls on my cell. I wish it was easier to track these jerks down and that penalties were stiffer for doing what they do.
Bionic 2012-03-21 14:39:01 Unknown
I got a call from this number today on my cell - I usually don't answer if I don't recognize the number. No voicemail. After a few minutes my wife calls me from my landline at home to check if I have my phone with me ! Because apparently the caller, supposedly from Verizon, said a four year old found a phone at a school and they're trying to find the owner !!! Total scam !! Not sure what they want !

it's a 3rd party contractor bill collector... they're calling because "you" are late on your bill....
Jkay 2012-02-15 17:44:22 Unknown
No one from Verizon will ever call and ask for your password. You've been scammed.
