Got a text message from 254-379-0004, that my H&R emerald card was frozen and to call 646-546-5405. Couple of things - I just got this cell phone thru work - and - WTF is an emerald card? I called the number, it asked for my 16 digit customer card. So to just mess with whoever this is, I keyed in a random 16 digit number. Automated voice just asked for the 16 digit number again. I did not text them back, since this is my WORK number and the plan doesn't cover text messages - Whoever this is, PLEASE JUST STOP THIS NONSENSE.

Call your phone provider, they will investigate the account holder and take appropriate action. Cancel the account, prosecute, etc.

I have recieved 2 texts in the last week. The first number they sent was "not in service". Im a weirdo (thankfully!) and googled the number. NOTHING. So I got the 2nd one as well. Someone here in my town has actually been ripped off. Since nothing was sounding right I didnt put my info in. An EPPI card is a child support card. I dont even have one any more! These people are trying to rip others off when times are hard enough. PLEASE PLEASE do not fall for this!

eppi card frozen Please call 425-818-5338
PLEASE DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER, already called and informed sprint, and they informed me that it was a fraud message. second call I have gotten and I have a text block on my phone so they are really playing dirty.
| Ann 2010-05-05 18:08:40 Unknown |
both my husband & I have gotten these messages regarding EPPI cards frozen- they appear to be DB cards issued through various states for unemployment or child support through my internet search. We don't have these- and so I went to our state site and sent an email about a possible scam because there was already a similar alert posted on their site for this happening back in 11/09. Of course, our wonderful state govt has not bothered to reply so sure hope someone who might have these cards and falls for this- doesn't get burned!
Does anyone else who has received these messages have Sprint/Nextel? It just seems odd but my number is probably thrown out there more than my husband's for sure- and this seemed to happen right after we had had contact with Sprint customer service- and this has been 2 times now? Just a thought- as I know losers who have nothing better to do seem to get people personal info from god knows where!

I received a text from customer service (?) telling me my ippi card was frozen and this is the second time I received such a call. I didn't even know what ippi meant but now that I know it is like a debt card I'm sure this is a scam.

Got pulled over by officer and gave personal information and then got text message asking me to call this number regarding my credit card. Concerned about possible wireless information theft from officers lap top. Has anyone else experienced this phone number request after receiving a ticket?

Got a text from 254-379-0003, stating ?. customer issue, eppi card frozen, and to please call.516-746-4841
I have spoken to local law enforcement, my banks, and my cell phone company.
They all have indicated to do the following.
NEVER call the number and NEVER give them any information, they are trying to steal you credit card information. (and by the way who is EPPI??? Never heard of them.. they have to be stupid to send me a text on something I have never heard of or for that matter have an account with. )
Contract your cell phone company; they will give you an address to forward the text to. (any maybe will stop them one day. On a personal note I use to get this type of text at least once a week?. But since I have been forwarding them to my phone company this is the 1st one in about 4 months.
