Just got a call from the same area code and prefix.  Only it was for a school that I had never heard of but ironically the school that they claimed I attended shared half the name of the actual college I didn't start until 2010.  They claim I owe almost a thousand dollars to this school with the same last four digits of a social and claimed it was where I was living now.  Only the time I 'supposedly' went to this school was at my current address and under my maiden name.  I was married and lived in another state during the time they listed as me as attending.  When I blasted them with this information and said I didn't start attending college until August 2008 the man sputtered and claimed we have a transfer in July of 2008.  So I said when would I have had time I was ASST at BAM with two small children.  I had to quit my job to attend school and do work study while my oldest was at school.  I requested information on the debt and he didn't want to send it so I told him you can and you will because I am working on my MA in Criminal Justice and my professor is a lawyer.  Send it or I will give him the number that came up when you called my cell phone.


I do have an online presence as a freelance journalist.  So typing my full legal name will pull up my LinkedIn profile but I just do not know how they found my new cell phone number?

just got a call on my cell phone saying this was my "second notice" about my car warranty expiring

this number has called multiples of times, always telling me that I only have one last opportunity to get my warranty for my car.

I called the number listed for Jason the one that Jack posted on his comment, it actually had jason answer at 10:30 pm pacific time, sweet !! if its him we should all call him at ungodly hours.    FYI  he said he didnt know what I was talking about and then hung up but didnt appear surprised to hear that his number was listed HAH!

They call me on my Skype phone number and I live in Sweden...Fortunately I turn my computer off or the sound down at night or we'd be woken up often by idiotic calls like these. Geez.

they called my prepaid cell 3 times today once a 3 IN THE MORNING then at 8 and the 3rd time was seconds after the 2nd time.. its annoying then they called my other phone what it wrong with people theses days

Wish these calls would stop. I don't have a warranty.

This ia a scam. This # 256-261-7787 has been calling me atleast 3 times a week for the past couple of months. Finally I got tired and spoke with someone on the phone to take me off their call list. This is a big time SCAM. These people are the worst kind of SCUM you can get. Why has the goverment let this on for so long? Why has no one been sent to jail for this?

Yep, they call me several times a week, my cell rings into my office so I always answer that phone, but always hang up when the recording starts. maybe we'll be able to stop them someday. When they called my phone i thought it was someone I actually knew, we live in the 256 area code in Alabama.

i get these calls too!! about once a day if not twice! i can not stand it anymore it's driving me crazy. i filed a complaint on the fcc's website. here's a list of the numbers that are calling me:

I received this call today. They will never stop! In this bad economy, these scammers are out in full force to take advantage of people. They must cease and desist!

Call from 256-261-7787 on my brand-new cell phone. Where'd they even get my number!? Extended car warranty salespeople and scammers are among the scum of the earth.

Got the same message about a second notice about a warranty expiring that some other people on this site have mentioned.  They left a voicemail.  I get about 2-3 calls a week about this stuff, from different numbers.

This number has been calling my cell phone. I don't answer if the caller id had a number I am unfamiliar with, so I did not answer to these con artists and after reading these posts, I am glad I didn't!

I got the same call today as well.  I actually chose to speak to the rep, and proceeded to inform her that she'd called a cell phone, and that I had never bought a car with a warranty.  I think I almost made her cry when I started insulting her...but I know they'll call back, so if I feel too bad about it, I'll just randomly apologize to the next poor woman before I chew her out.

This number 256-261-7787 calls my son (he's 12 yrs old) on his cell. No one ever says anything. I've instructed him not to answer this number again.

call from this number that my auto warranty is expiring. I have a used car. I know this is spam, and how can it be stopped. I get several calls with the same message and do do other people I know. but they are called from several different numbers. How do I stop this, or block them or something.

I received a call today around noon from this number. Its the whole "car warranty scam"... Dont give any information to these people. About a year ago my mom got a call from them and they told her she needs to update her warranty and she was asking them questions. The man she was speaking to was taking the conversation as a joke. He then told her "I Almost got you though huh?" as he was laughing.

I received a call from this number today.  If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer and I don't call back.  I always assume it is a telemarketer calling.  My phone service is with AT&T by the way.

I received this call to my work blackberry. Same song and dance as many of the other postings. It's unreal how people try to swindle others.
