I got the same text saying my SECU card was deactivated and I do bank there. However, the moron that sent it obviously thinks everyone is as ignorant as they are. No bank would send a weekend text saying they deactivated your card

I received a text that my SECU card had been deactivated. Unfortunately, I fell for it. I had fraud on my account three weeks ago and just activated my new card today. When I got this message, I thought something else was wrong with the activation. When you call the number that is texted to you, 919-246-5748, it sounds legit - an automated service, but I only went so far and hung up (I also typed in the security code incorrectly) and immediately called the Credit Union. I have now deactived this card to prevent any more fraud, and thankfully nothing had happened to our account yet.

If you have fraud, you can call 1-888-732-8562 which is the State Employees Credit Union (NC) to let them know.

They use SECU (state employees credit union) on me. Like everyone else I don't have an account there. I seem to get this type of text at least once a month. Simular messages.

Same as above. Just happened, of course I knew immediately it was scam. It was the exact same as above. So I guess they are moving on now to different bank names and numbers.
West Coast Bank, starting with 4778 has been deactivated call 503-468-1076

The number it came from was: 1-856-332-1454

Yeah right, I'll get right on it LOL. Not really funny though, don't know where to "officially" report this scam, but sites like this help. All I had to do was put in the name of supposed bank and the number they wanted me to call, and up came this site. While I already knew it would be a scam, I figure the more of us that put the numbers and bank names in, the easier it will be for people checking on line, to see if a number, is a scam.

I just received a text from this number telling me my credit card from West Coast Bank starting with 4778  had been deactivated and then gave me an Astoria OR number 503-468-1076 to call.

Not only do I not have this credit card I wouldn't respond to a text

This is ludacris for anyone to think a bank would notify you by text. What do the people expect to gain from this?

I got the same "..card has been deactivated..." message and it tells me to call 608-237-7139. After reading some of the other sites regarding this second number, I understand that they just ask for your credit card information. I wish I could figure out how to legitimately report this to the proper authorities so that potentially they can trace this message back to the perpetrators of this scam.

Received a text from this number saying "LA LOMA F.C.U. ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED.  Please call: 903-273-6703."   I have never had an account with this credit union and the number listed is not found on the credit union's website.  SCAM.

?BREWERY C U NOTICE: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please call 414-491-7896?
5 reasons of epic fail:
1) I do not have a CARD through this Credit Union, let alone was even aware of it?s existence until today.
2) A bank would not ....text....you if your card/acct/etc was deactivated, no matter what the reason.
3) Texting source is from a different area code than said local only Credit union.
4) ?please call? number is not even a number available on www.brewerycu.com contact list.
5) ?please call? number is a freakin cell phone number (as well as text source, obviously)

how dumb do scammers think people are? What do they do, just punch in a bunch of random #?s and probable Banks within the vacinity and start spamming away?
