My phone rang tonight about 6:20 PM, a man named Matt Fosick from Stillwater Music was calling for "Jeff" just checking on him to see how he was doing. Matt is a singer/songwriter himself and writes/produces at least one song a week. He called using 260-432-8176 and told "Jeff" to call him back at his number 800-222-4700 ext 1635.  So sad that "Jeff" will never know that Matt Fosick was checking up on him and his music, guess people should use their real numbers or salespeople should read the numbers better..

Wrong, Mr. Big. I asked my rep to stop calling. It's been several months, but today the calls began again.

Like to place a small bet not only on you NOT getting a good price on your LP's ... but getting the bottom of the Gibson barrel quality wise  Les Pauls as well ? Not all Gibsons being created equal you know ... or maybe you don't ... Do you  realize you overpaid for guitars who's quality has been suspect since the late 60's ... with quality being somewhat less than reliable from guitar to guitar .. And mail order shops .. with the possible exception of Elderly [ if you have a good long term relationship with them ] being the worst for picking out the least quality guitars for their customers in order to garner a cheaper price from the manufacture ! You want quality equal to the price ? Buy custom ... or at the very least buy a PRS ! What ... you think those of us on stage use the garbage you can buy from the discount stores ? Heck ... we don't even use the good ones  stock ... modifying all the flaws out of them despite being sponsored by the manufacture !!!

Bologna ! I AM a professional ... worked in the professional and  retail and Sound Recording & Engineering  side back in the day  as well  [ with the degree and credentials to back it up I might add ]  I've been asking SW to stop calling ... stop mailing their damn catalogs .. and stop emailing for years !!! Even moving to a different state and having an unlisted and unpublished phone #  not stoping them from tracking me down . They are like a bad wart . Once they've got you they never want to let you go . And anyone that says otherwise either works for SW .. is mildly deluded .. or is a blatant liar .

BTW .. their product knowledge is abysmal ... their prices barely competitive ... and their after sales support a major league  joke . As others have said ... support your local store when possible . Either that or resign yourself to forever being a member of the Sweetwater calling/mail/email list for eternity and beyond !!!

Now what was that you were saying about having knowledge before commenting Mr Sweetwater shill ?

Your post is 6 months old, but: If you're happy with the call. . . why are you here? You would of had to of looked up the number, clicked on the 800notes link, came here & posted a comment. Why? Sorry, but have to mark your post as "suspect". That's short for "shill posting". Positive comments on 800 notes, that are out of context with the rest of the posting, usually are planted.

I like to support local businesses, too. But as a professional recording technician, I often need equipment that is very difficult -- if not impossible -- to purchase in a retail store. Sweetwater has everything I need, at the same price as other online retailers, but with unbeatable customer service. Something breaks? I don't call an anonymous 800 number. I call Mike. I can't figure out which dynamics processor will be the most cost-effective solution for our project studio? Mike again. You don't want calls from Sweetwater? Just tell them. But honestly, I don't know what I'd do without those folks.

I didn't get a call at all. I've been doing business with Sweetwater for a short time now with only 2 orders in past couple months. I actually was googling how to switch my sales engineer and since someone mentioned that a few pages back, I found this thread. Bored so I read most of the posts here. I had a good laugh, but need to still look for how to switch sales reps.

First though, I have to say that I've never gotten a call at all, but I was very upfront from the beginning. I do service calls all day long and the last thing I want is to be on the phone if I don't have to. After my very first email to Sweetwater, I got assigned some sales engineer. Ok, works for me. He wasn't able to answer my question but asked me to call him. I replied to his email and told him my question again, re-worded. I also told him I'm on the phone too much already and don't need to call for such a simple question. That was the only mention of calls ever. Never got a call on either of my orders. If I did, then I'd be in strong agreement to many of these posts, but as many have said, tell them and they'll stop. They did in my case.

My issue isn't with sweetwater as a whole, just don't think my particular "sales engineer" should have that engineer title. Since my first question he told me he didn't know the answer, and since that one I've asked a couple more, both answered the same way. Last night I inquired about an order I placed a month ago. He's told me story after story of why it hasn't been in. Not once have I even pushed it. In fact, I told him neither of the two things in that order are needed right away so feel free to wait until both are in stock and ship together. Well, Dec 20th (after 3 weeks) he replied to my 3rd question he didn't know the answer to. He ended his email with "Looks like your stuff should be in by the end of the week, I'll keep you posted". That was the 20th, today is Jan 7th. I asked for the 1st time if he had an ETA on it. His reply was that it's been abnormally cold there the past few days (yes, that was what he said). I normally am a very calm customer, but after 3 no answers where he should have at least asked someone for the answer, and rather than giving me an ETA and just telling me it was cold there, I got upset. Treat me fair, be straight up with me, and I'll put your kids through college (ok, exaggeration), but don't tap dance, especially since I'm so easy going, most of the time. I told him enough was enough to switch me to another sales engineer. He hasn't replied since. So again, I need to find out how to do this on my own since even though I strongly follow a different ethic than him, I'm not looking to get him into trouble. I don't want to call because I can't think of any way to word it without it being a negative mark on him. I am however feed up enough to where I will not go through him anymore. Ahh, rant over, thanks for reading, haha. Mainly wanted to comment here about my experience with never getting calls. Tell your sales rep you rather not get calls. If that doesn't work, ask for a new sales person. Most people's comments I've read never mentioned it at all and are just looking to see what the number to the missed call was. Oh, and I agree with whoever said not leaving a message was rude. Depends on the person though too. Personally, I hate voice mail unless it's important, but that's only if I recognize the phone number in the first place.

Found out that it's Sweetwater from this site. I also got an email from a representative. I'm not too suspicious seeing as I have ordered gear from them before, and I think I probably even entered a contest at some point. It makes sense that they're calling since the whole point of giveaways is to cull information that they can later use for potential leads. Not surprising or upsetting as long as it's legitimately from Sweetwater.

I just got a call from my favorite sales rep at Sweetwater, just to touch base personally, then to see if there was anything he could do for me.

Don't knock Sweetwater! When I've had problems (very rarely), I heard from my sales rep, the president, vice-president and warehouse manager. Everybody who could do anything to solve the problem. It turned out they had a warehouse load of bad wah-wah pedals, and the manufacturer was ready to replace their entire warehouseful.

You can't beat that kind of service!

This is Sweetwater. If at some point you gave them your phone number because you, say, ordered music equipment, they'll call about once every six to 12 months. They will not try to sell you anything specific--they will only ask if you are currently looking for something and if they can help and earn your business. So yes, it is telemarketing, but it is a "warm" call--a business you've dealt with before--rather than a "cold" call--a business you have never dealt with. They're the lowest-pressure, most professional sales people I've ever gotten regular calls from. And I don't mind a bit. If you ask them to stop calling you I have no doubt they will do so.

This number is part of a scam! I am going through this with an MCI bill that is also a scam everyone is listing! This number is listed as the long distance collect call that was made from a phone I had 8 years ago! I have no idea how they even got my address after 2 moves! But my medical records had been stolen a few months ago here in Indiana. This is just another attempt to get your cell information by calling them! Fort Wayne, IN 46818

Ripoff report?  Really?  Sweetwater sells quality merchandise at good prices.  So you don't how often they call you.  Big F deal.  Where's the "ripoff" in that?  Would you rather deal with a company that takes your money and sends you crap but doesn't call you?  Half the posts cluttering Ripoff Report seem to have been written by illiterate morons.  Now I know why.

Received a call from Sweet Water Sound regarding some ULX transmitters I supposedly ordered.  I've never even heard of this company before and most definitely have no idea what a ULX transmitter is or does.  Just to be sure I checked my bank accounts and credit cards in case of fraudulent activity, and didn't turn up anything (luckily).  When I tried to return the call at the number that the representative (Greg Sevino) left, it went straight to voice mail.  I'm on the Do Not Call list and still received what appears to be a call trying to gain personal information, since I've never ordered anything, nor done business with this company.  The number that appeared on my caller I.D. was 260 432 8176, but the callback number left was 800 222 4700.  Both are to Sweetwater Sound.

Sweetwater is by far the best audio equipment sales company in america. They excel at personalized sevice and their sales engineers are professional, polite, and extreemly knowledgeable. We have purchased tens of thousands of dollers worth of gear from them where we have recieved the best price and service available in the country. We will continue to use Sweetwater for the bulk of our equipment purchases. If you are not a profession and do not require the best service/price available then you have myriad mediocre companies on the web to choose from, Guitar Center, Musicians Friend, etc. Real professionals go to Sweetwater!

I bought a small item from Sweeetwater several years ago, they had the best price. The profit margin on the item was probably less than $20.

In exchange for my business:

1. They regularly mail me very thick, glossy full-color catalogs of stuff I have no interest in. I've collected a nice stack of them.

2. Send me constant emails to promote sales (for things I can't afford).

3. A rep calls my cell phone every few months, leaving detailed voicemails. (just in case I "have any questions" about my 2-knob fuzz pedal I bought 2 years ago and sold last year... look, we know why you guys are calling and it's not to make smalltalk.

This has been going on for years. I don't think it will ever stop unless I invest time in opting out (while hearing concerned counterpitches and being questioned for the reasons.)

I'm not mad - but I figure whatever money they made off of me has been long been spent on marketing costs. The rep is always friendly sounding, so it does not feel like harassment. It's just... weird overkill. We all know why they are calling and why they personalize the interactions. It drives sales up. But why chase stale contacts?

Imagine if you were some random parent, buying some guitar strings for a neice or nephew - now you have them hardselling you on thousand-dollar recording gear and calling you at work for years.

I know the number and have added it to my contact list so it comes up by name - now I can ignore and delete.

Not a telemarketer?  Never heard of/done business with this company, and yet they call several times each week, apparently disregarding the DNC list.  After reading comments here, will answer next time and ask to be removed from their list, since they seem to abide.  As an outside observer, I would think a brief follow-up call left as a message to confirm an order and avoid fraud from hi-jacked info, or possible order error, would be welcome regardless of amount of purchase, as most companies do by email, but draw the line at efforts to bloat a sale.

Great company, and yes they call to make sure you know your order has been placed and check on your experience after the fact sometimes too. I like it and call it "customer service" since I order strings, amps and guitars from them. They have never called me out of the blue trying to sell any additional products to me!!!! (or at least the rep for my region hasn't).

Chill out folks. The number is for Sweetwater Sound, a thoroughly reputable company. They aren't telemarketers trying to sell you something you don't want and never would want. Sweetwater is the best of the online music retailers in quality and customer help. Go look at their webpage about which audio/MIDI interfaces have updated their drivers for Mac OS 10.7 & 10.8 and which haven't yet. Just three days ago, that saved me from buying a new audio/MIDI interface that didn't have working drivers yet. Do you see the same technical info from Musician's Friend, Music123, or Guitar Center? No - and with those companies, I would of had to order it, test it, and then return it at my expense because of the lack of that technical info.

So they call me once a year to catch up and they like to follow up on orders - why is that type of customer service a bad thing these days? It's a pleasant conversation, no pressure to buy anything, just reminding me that they're available if I need something. If that behavior bothers you, just ask them not to call you again, no big deal.

Compare prices, Sweetwater is usually about the same as MF, M123, and often appreciably less than GC. (And MF, M123, and GC are all owned by Bain Capital, so every dollar you spend there enriches Mitt Romney even more.)

Well, for the two 25' TRS cables I needed for my home studio recently, *NONE* of the four local music shops I tried had any in stock. The locals seem to be stocking less and less stuff these days. It's sad, one of them that I used to buy a lot of equipment from has now removed all but one tube from each of their fluorescent light fixtures to save money. I'm very happy with the cables bought from Sweetwater though.

Sweetwater.  They are persistent and annoying with their marketing calls, emails and postal mail.  Their catalog is nice to look at, but I won't do business again with a company who turns a $3 sale (12 picks) into justification for endless sales pitches through every contact point they have of me.

Don't report people to Ripoffreport unless they ripped you off.  File a complaint with the BBB if you feel its justified, but last I knew, there were rules stating it was ok for businesses to contact buyers or customers within x months without it being considered unsolicited.  Sweetwater is just much more aggressive than any company that I've purchased from thus far.
