Debt Collector
I have been getting these calls off and on for about a year.  All India type accents and saying calling from legal dept of ?.  They know my SSN (really do) and that someone has got a fraudulent loan with my info.  They went as far as calling a friend of mine and telling him I used him for a reference on a fraudulent loan.  Just got one and was asked to hold I said no I am at work  and know this is a scam stop calling me and hung up.  I heard on the radio the other day a number to call right after getting a call like this, but don't remember it.  I thought it was *80, but that did not work.  The time before this the caller was very rude and accusing me of being a thief, I told him I was at work and to stop calling he said you work where with a bunch of other thieves like you.  At this point I started getting very angry and said this is a company phone he just kept on getting worse and worse on name calling etc.  I was screaming at him at this point.. I gave the phone to my boss and he used a few choice words to tell him never call  this number again.  That was a couple months ago, and today I got another call.  Today caller ID said only 265, usually it is all zeros but has been from a area code for PA and Southern CA before.

Does anyone know the number I should call?

I answered, and before I could even say "hello," a message began to play about how I could lower my interest rate on my credit card (all in a very generic boilerplate, no specifics) and that this was my "last chance" to take advantage of the opportunity. If only, as I'm sure they will call again and again.

This number calls every couple of days, it is a recording for some credit card, that we don't have.  Have told them to stop calling but they still do.  Anymore we just let the machine answer and of course they never leave a message.   We are in the no call list, but is no use, we report and report and they keep calling, they keep changing the number too, so no sense in blocking them either.  What a pest these people are.  There should be a law against this stuff.

This is the classic phishing scheme...   Offer you a product/service that you can't refuse, but require certain info (credit card/bank account/personal info) to conduct 'business'.   The info you provide is then used to make unauthorized charges and/or steal your identity.

Unfortunately, since the number is spoofed, it's almost impossible to block or trace.   The best thing to do is not answer obviously bogus numbers (e.g. xxx-000-xxx).

Um, the whole point here is that this is a SCAM.  Chase claims these calls don't originate from them because they don't.  It's criminals trying to get their hands on your credit card info -- to do that, they will claim to be from Chase or Capital One or Wells Fargo or any other bank.  The banks really do have nothing to do with the calls, so of course they defend against people suing them for making the calls.

Received a call from (265) 000-6754 saying that they could lower the interest rate on my credit cards.  I am also on the Do Not Call list, but little good that has actually done, and so I pressed "9" to speak to someone to get my name off the list.  When the guy answered I told him I wanted to have my name removed from the list and he replied with, "they want ice in hell you f*^%ing b*^%$ and they are not going to get it."  A little disturbing to say the least.

Unless you have given out, and given permission to use, your cell phone number, it is absolutely off limits for all telemarketing purposes. Doesn't have to be on any Do Not Call registry. Just has to be a cell phone. If you can find out who is calling, you can collect $500 and up, in small claims court. Depending on the circumstances, you may be able to collect thousands.

The claim "When Chase Bank Calls, the Caller ID identifies them as being from Chase Bank." is outright bunk, when it comes to their telemarketing scams. It may be true of calls from real bankers in real banks, but it's not true with respect to calls like this. They try to pretend telemarketing calls like this did not come from them. They will do everything they can to pretend the calls did not come from them, even -- in court -- when confronted with recordings saying so. Moreover, they hire law firms to defend telemarketing lawsuits which are the lowest (if possible) of the low.

Whatever you think about lawyers -- the very worst you have heard or experienced -- Chase hires far worse. The lies I've heard their lawyers tell in Court are amazing. They tend to prove the psychological truism that people prefer to buy a big lie than a small truth. I've met up with their lawyers representing other clients, and each equals the others in being the most persistently smarmy, putrid, wormy, slimy, pile of bovine scat to ever slither into a courtroom.

After several lawsuits, I'm supremely confident that this call from 265-000-6754 did not come from Chase. If it did, it will -- this one, single, call will -- cost them thousands of dollars. I'm onto their tricks, and those sleazy, smelly, skanky (Yep. At least two of them were, or pretended to be, women.) twits won't know what hit them, this time around.

IT IS NOT TRUE that Chase telemarketing phone calls always give accurate and useful information in their Caller Id signals.

I received a call from this number.  I do not pick up calls from numbers I do not recognize.  I figure that if they are legitimate, they will leave a voice mail.  If they don't leave a voice mail, they have ZERO chance at getting in touch with me.  If they do leave a voice mail and I don't know who they are - there is still ZERO probability that I will call them back.

BTW - I too am on the "Do Not Call Registry".  It doesn't seem to stop those who are trying to scam you out of personal information or money.

Just want to let you all know...for those of you that "filed a complaint" with Chase Bank.  These calls have nothing to do with them, and are in fact A SCAM.  I have a close, personal friend, that is a manager at Chase Bank.  I found it funnt that I got a call from this number while she and I were having coffee together.

When Chase Bank Calls, the Caller ID identifies them as being from Chase Bank.  I do not wish to post how it comes up, as I don't want the scammers to know.  This is a fishing expidition...I have been getting the same calls for YEARS, despite I too being on the Do Not Call Registry.  When they started, we were with a different bank.  We too, have no credit cards.  My husband recently started getting calls on his Company Cell Phone, and we do not use that number as a primary or secondary number.

The company is "MagicJack" that provides users with the ability to mask their true origin with a fake Caller ID # like 265-000-6754. They also use other #'s and are a complete pain in the butt.
"MagicJack" needs to find a way to stop this abuse, or be held accountable.

"Credit Card Services" claims to have important information regarding my account.
I do not own a single credit card. The transparency of their scam is bothersome and childish.
They call me at least weekly. They are probably "Phone Jack" users, as the number is invalid.
"Phone Jack" should be held accountable and pursue users who abuse the service.

I DID recently file a complaint to Chase because their ATM's stopped reading my printed, payroll paychecks (and they offer no alternative, save walking into the bank). Maybe be that IS why...

Got a call from this number claiming to be from card holder services, and that they could lower my interest rates. Since I don't have any credit cards and I am on the do not call list I pressed 9 to talk to an operator. The guy that came on spoke in a thick Indian accent, and when I told him we were on the do not call list and asked him what company he worked for he said "Chase Bank" and when I asked for the contact information he hung up.
