Also got 2 calls from Edna, same scam, same script.  My calls came on March 14th and I see they are still making these calls?  

I don't consider this a "prank" call, how about adding an "Illegal Scam" category.  

Why can't we find these people and either put them in jail or deport them.  They are pretending to represent the US Treasury, shouldn't that be a crime?  If they are calling internationally, then block their phone calls permanently before they enter the US.  Don't understand why technology can't squish this activity like a bug.  We need to pass laws to make this a serious crime with serious consequences!  I'm fed up, how about you?

Keep getting calls from this number;I called back and some guy named "Kevin" said he was sending a detective to have me arrested! I said go ahead-I told him he was a liar and I said a few other chice things to him and he hung up on me; What is scary is that they know my name

A normal sounding man (American) answered with a message telling me I have a lawsuit against and I should call him back...
A lot of background noise...Don't let it scare you because I got this call 10 minutes   after  731-201-0118 called and told me I had a lawsuit against me..I had this happen the other day and I knew he was a scumbag and told him I was going to record the conversation and he said why???     I said so I can sue you and after I find you I can beat your FU&#!#$ head in!!!  He hung up and than 267-287-3231 called me.. The thing that Tickes me off is they had my name....

Had a call this morning from this number; heavy Indian accent -- I could hardly understand him.  Said he was from Dept. of Legal Affairs and that I needed to call right away.  Same old stuff -- legal action being taken against us.  I did NOT call back because last time I called one of these scammers back, I had a $29 call charged to my long distance bill.  That "call back" number was in the Bahamas!  BE CAREFUL.

Received call today asking for my husband. I asked what the call was in reference to and the caller - a heavily accented male - told me that he was with "Dept. of Legal Affairs." I then told him my husband was not available. The caller asked if I would give my husband a message. I said, "sure." He proceeded to give me the phone number to call. I asked him for some information:
his name: his reply was "Troy Barker"
what company was he a part of the "Dept. of Legal Affairs" with: his reply was "US Treasury"
I asked for the id or reference number for the case he was calling about - He became very rude at this, informing me that it was a legal matter and could only be discussed with the person named in the legal suit.
I told him that this sounded like some serious business and would require documented legal notification and couldn't be handled by phone, I asked him to please forward the information by registered/certified mail. He informed me that a sheriff would serve a warrant in the morning as notification of being served with the information and that my husband better have a lawyer on hand. I thanked him for his call and that we would look forward to receiving "official" notification, by whatever source was necessary.

What a scam. It's sad that some people believe this stuff.

Heavy indian/Arabic accent guy called himself Steve Miller, told me I needed to call 267-287-3231 because of a legal case against me.  I called the next day and the same accent male answered calling himself Dan Archer. They both claimed to be from the US Treasury Dept of Legal Affairs.  Archer wanted me to give me info, I told him he contacted me and should already have it. When I said he sounded like a scam, he said that people would be at my door in a few hours with a warrant and subpoena to take me to jail for 6 months!  I filed a report with the Columbus, OH  police dept.

This is a scam. I saw the news report last week that it was a national (and one of the largest) scams.

I just got this same call from "Danny Archer" but thought I would call back knowing it was a scam.  He knew I knew almost immediately and after describing what he wished to do to my wife, he hung up.  He won't take my calls anymore...

Everyone is as vague as the thug callers about the reason for the "legal mess", so I'll toss out discussion of two closely related forms of extortion dressed up as debt collection for review.

They called me 14 times before leaving a message. I got the message when I got home from work, same thing..... Very heavy Indian accent, and said that if I didn't call or have my attorney contact them I would be in a legal mess.

Maddening - they've left a VM and then called me live, to warn me about "legal actions" against me by the US Treasury. Who falls for this? I told them I'm reporting them and to not call me again.

it was a man who called himself Mr. Miller but he also had an Indian Accent.  Same spiel.   I told him it sounded like a fraud call and to notify us by mail with details.  Immediately called the police dept. and they said yes it is a scam.

i just received a call - 6:15 eastern times- asian voice - telling me vhe was from the dept. of legal affairs-u.s.treasury and that i owed 2186 on past due taxes, and i should get an attormey as i was in a legal mess.  he said if i didn't send the money tonite, the sheriff would be here to take me in handcuffs to jail.when i told him i did not owe taxes and i was 88 years of age and ill, he said i had to settle it right now or go to jail.  i told him i had to call my graqnddaughter,who told me it was a scam.  she called the number but no one answered the phone.  he gave his name as danny archer.  i accused him it was a scam and he started threatening me.  i am now so worked up - surprisedi don't have a heart attack.  have called the police and am waiting for them to come and take my complaint.

I was puzzled and decided to google this telephone number and found out that I was not the only one who is getting this type of call. It is very scary!!!

I received a call about twenty minutes ago from an Indian guy said his name was Jordon Lee, and said it was a legal matter and I was being sued and I had to call this number and speak to an officer or I would be arrested.
I called the number but no answer , luckily I gave him no information but he did have my name correct.
It really scared me, calls like this have to be stopped.

I was also told that I would be in a "legal mess," Obviously the same script she used on the last guy. I live in Idaho

Caller left a message on our answering machine -- young woman with a strong Indian accent said her name was "Edna" and claimed to be from the U.S. Treasury.  She said that unless I returned her call, the U.S. Treasury would start legal proceedings against me (for what, she never said) and that I would be in a "legal mess," so I should have my WEEKEND ATTORNEY call.  They had my name right, which was kind of spooky, but everything else was obviously fake -- the woman was calling from what sounded like a boiler room and she was reading slowly and carefully from a script.  So yeah, I'll have my "weekend attorney" get right on that.
