Clear Lake area too.  Got the one-ring call at around 2:00 AM last night.

One thing for sure, the phone number that shows on everyone's Caller ID is false.  They use a process (readily available on the internet) to spoof whatever number they want to appear.

Another thing for sure is that whoever is doing it has a low IQ, because they obviously don't know how to program the thing so that the victim's phone rings more than once or gets answered so they can leave a prerecorded scam message.

Rang one time at 3:15 and hung up, no message.

I also live in Houston (Cypress area) and received two phone calls from this number today.  Once to my home phone around 10am, then to my cell phone at 4:39pm.  Two rings and then hung up; no messages.

Called at 11:16am today.  Houston area - Tomball.  No message.

I got this one as well, today @ 3:09 pm.  By chance, I'd left my cellphone at home so I didn't have it with me. But whatever or whoever it was, displayed no name in the caller ID line, nor was there a recorded message in my VM... nada... muy weird!

The number appears in my cell call log, 281-413, and I do not hear a ring only receive a missed call notice and when I call back I hear a notice that the number can not be reached. I do believe it is a automated voice message but not from my service provider or an operator but is actually generated by the receiving end. I think they are just capturing info. I return missed calls because of the type of business I am in.

I Just (3:29p.m. CST) received a call from this number and it was really weird.  As soon as I clicked over, they hung up after only letting it ring barely twice.  I also live in Houston and use Tmobile...very odd. More importantly...WHY???

Called 5/31, 10:15 pm. One ring? Hung up. Weird.

This number called my husband's cell phone at 5:16pm today, left no message, and then called my cell phone at 10:16pm.  Rang half a ring.  Usually I don't return unknown numbers but since it had also called hubby's phone, I tried to call it back.  Phone kept saying "connecting" but nothing ever happened. Strange everyone has been called by this number.......

Just received a call from this number at 10:26 pm, on my cell phone. My wife received one on her cell phone shortly thereafter. We live outside Houston, both cell ph #s 281 area code. We have family in MI so were freaked out, tried calling from our cell phones and our land line. Feel better that it's not family trying to reach us, but this is weird as well.

Just got the call, tried to call back with no answer. Thinking of setting up computer to auto dial number every 5 minutes. it called my grandcentral (a 281 number, grandcentral.com) number, which it not listed ANY WHERE.

Just emailed the channel 2 investigation people about what is going on. Also just checked with the BBB and the USAVOTERS.org is not registered; just filed a complaint against the org for calling a private number.

I got a call from this number this morning at 5:27, just one ring. Enough to wake me up and that was it for me. On caller ID it says USAVOTERS.ORG

Called my home number at 4:02 this morning!! Same deal as almost everyone else, one ring, then hung up!
Ugh. I have an unlisted number that I pay to be unlisted and am also on the Do Not Call list, what does it take to really not get these types of annoying calls??
Can BBB really do anything?

A broken autodialer may be the answer.  It's a non-profit group - USAVOTERS.org - that is making the calls (and pissing a lot of people off in the process).  Their website is useless as far as trying to contact them, as it is simply a two-function site - register and donate options only - with no links to actually contact someone and tell them their autodialer may be broken and/or to stop making these very annoying calls, especially the early morning ones (which are illegal even for a non-profit to be making, as is calling a persons cell phone.

Same...missed the call on my cell and tried to call it back. Got an automated message that the call could not be connected. No voicemail left. I'm also a 281 # in the Houston / Clear Lake area.
