I keep getting the same call with the $100 offer based on a recent VISA purchase. This is definitely not a legit company.
Nicole 2011-06-06 20:44:29 Unknown
I've been getting this call for about a week and thought it was sketch after the first call and ignored the rest. But they called today so I listened to see if they're try to get private info like my card number. They already had my last 4 digits my cell number my name and my address. But they never asked for any other info. But first I talked to a guy named Shawn who told me because of a recent visa purchase I've been given a prefered visa card holder membership. And I'd get a 120 gas rebate and could get all these other savings if I continue the membership after 30 days. Then he conwcted me yo a customer care team member to confirm my adress. So she comes on the line and confirms who I am and states my adress and asks me to confirm my zipcode. Then she reminds me that I get the gas rebate even if I cancel the service. She gave me a number to call to cancel at anytime. Then throughout the convo she gave me a couple other numbers I couldn't catch. At the end she told me since I've been so patient she's adding another $25 to my rebate. And told me I was also getting 5 issues of People magazine I believe for $1.
I feel in my gut that thus was a scam but they didn't ask for any additional private information... Idk what to do. I'm kinda worried.

I just got a call from these people. Said they were from Vista (something) and that I had won free gas cards for using my Master Card. I told them I did not want their gas cards because these are always scams. They said inside the envelope will be a "free offer" for something - I did not give them a chance to tell me.....I just told them NOT to send me anything!!!

This is definitely a telemarketer, scammer, or perhaps a phisher, who uses the final four digits to appear to be Customer Service at your credit card company. Those digits, of course, appear on bills, receipts, even mailings, and are easy to obtain if you are dishonest enough to steal.
A nice touch is to have Customer Service as the caller's ID! Avoid these guys.
Wayne 2011-06-06 20:44:29 Unknown
These jerks called me yesterday at about the same time. They are offering free gasoline in return for a charge of $2.95. This is pretty clearly a phishing operation. BEWARE!
Jason 2011-06-06 20:44:29 Unknown
I actually had the same problem, I was so out of it that I confirmed the zip code. I've cancelled my card, but I was hoping you could tell me how you dealt with the problem, since your post was made about a year ago I thought you might be able to help.
Thanks

Recording states they are calling regards to an order that I placed. I know this is a scam and have contacted the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission and filed complaints with both. My carrier has blocked calls from this number and now I have started receiving calls from another number leaving the same message. I will be contacting an attorney next.

constant calling...no message left and I'm on the "DO NOT CALL" list
KJ 2010-11-01 14:49:04 Unknown
I am on that opt out list...so I dont think it works :(

Got the Gas Rebate call and they could not seem to hear "I'm not Interested" but finally got the message.
The only online purchase that I have made (other than Amazon which I do not suspect) was for fushigiballs for the kids. Shortly afterwards I started to receive calls like these. I usually put in a fake phone number if asked but didn't this time. Lesson learned.

You can stop receiving these offers with a simple phone call or go online.
Ring 1-888-567-8681 and request that they stop the madness to your mailbox, or go to www.optoutprescreen.comto enter your info. You have the choice of opting out for five years or permanently. You can always opt back in if you desire.
Opting out won't stop all the mailings, but for those credit card issuers who look at your credit report first, it does halt them.

Dinoglide

Kept getting calls from 269-768-2621...did not answer them and did a search on this number. This is a scam. Beware not to answer unknown/unrecognized phone numbers.
Arizona 2010-10-30 17:32:30 Unknown
They called three times in ten minutes and left the message that they want to confirm my order. Why isn't this illegal?
DED 2010-10-30 15:46:01 Unknown
I have no credit cards...I do not answer from callers I do not recognize. It is frustrating to get these calls all day long...If I answer..it uses up my minutes...not going to do it.

I got a call from these people today. The same "You are a preferred customer, "Try our rewards program and you will only be charged 29.95 per month." But I had to pay the $2.95 shipping to receive $120 in gas vouchers and program information! I tried to stop the guy from talking. I said "You mean to tell me you are going to charge my credit card for shipping something I do not want?!" He would not stop talking even When I yelled "STOP! STOP! DO NOT CHARGE MY CREDIT CARD FOR ANYTHING!! I AM NOT INTERESTED!!" He continued to talk while I was yelling at him. Then I hung up and called my credit card company.
