Got a call from this number, a Ms. Jackson. Called me at my job.  Rude. Vague. Message wouldn't state a reason.

It is unlikely any collector could do such a thing without violating the law. First they have to identify they are talking to the right person without telling anyone else the personal information regarding the person they are calling for. Thank your congressman for your frustration. The FDCPA is so antiquted it refers to telegrams. Voicemail was not even considered when the FDCPA was ratified in 1978.

Check again... not cell phones... business lines... I checked.

Over 450,000 people in this country are debt collectors. They are normal people. Why avoid a debt collector? Most people that owe a debt want to pay it in a manner they can afford. If you cannot agree on terms or you do not want to pay for any other reason, it does no good to avoid contact. The collector has no idea what your situation is until you tell them and you may be surprised with what they are willing to do to HELP you. If you tell a debt collector you will not or cannot pay, they usually will not want to waste their time calling you and look for other options instead. Debt collectors are normal people despite the inflated reputation the media has given them from abusive practices by a few bad apples. I would hate to judge every athlete by the actions of one cheater, or every teacher by the one who had illegal relations with a student.

If the phone call is for you, then you should expect the call. If it is not, the caller will never know if they have a wrong number until you tell them.

If it is personal, it may not be legal to state what the call is regarding or the company name on the voicemail...

They probably have the wrong number.. they will never know until you tell them.

I recieved 2 calls from Amber Knight -- same verbiage -- "she's received my preliminary paperwork and is concerned I'm not aware of the severity of the current situation...call her back to provide my statement."

I called seveal times; no answer.  Called back again; left message.  Researched online and discovered these folks are CKS Fiancial Services which is a debt collector.  Called the number listed on their website 800-984-3711.  Operator that answered asked for the phone number they had been calling.  Gave it to her then she said my number was listed as an alternative number for a person I did not know.

She further told me she would remove my number from their system.  We'll see how that goes!

I just got a call from Amber Night.  She didn't even say, Hello this message is for ______.  She just went right into her speel and wanted me to call the 757-296-0106 to provide her with some statement.  The first thing I did was look up that number and WOW did I ever find people going therough the same harrassment as me.  I don't know what it's about, but if its over money. . .she'll never hear from me!  Thanks everyone for posting about Amber Knight!

Very stupid call... Looking for (1st name only)... When pushed about company and name, caller identified as "Amber, of CKS with important info for ........" what a dork! Feel sorry for those who listen to these turkeys!

Received a call from Ms. Jackson stating that she had some arbitrary paperwork that she needed a statement from me about. Said to call her back at 757-204-6340 but the call came from 276-207-8042. This is the 4th or 5th call i have received with a message fromt these people since last Friday. The other callers were an Amber, Mr. Van Cleese, and a David Wells. They left their numbers to call back as 757-296-0106 smf 757-296-0117. No company name left or reference other than they needed a statement from me regarding paperwork that had landed on their desks - they needed to speak to me before it escalated.

I'm not calling back but wish there were something that could be done to stop them. I to am working with a debt company and have informed them.

Any suggestions/thoughts on how to stop them would really be appreciated.

I got the same call. I've never had a collection agency call me but I did get a lot of calls for the guy who had my number before I did (three years ago). I would love to report them and I would love for them to stop calling me. To whom do I report them and how do I get them to stop calling me?

called out office and left a message after business hours that Mr.Van Cleef has had many of his employees call to "verify" information before he can do a "recommendation". Very vague and left no info other than a phone number extremely irritated sounding and very pushy. did reverse lookup and its a scam don't call this number back

I received a call from the number 276-207-8042 yesterday. I let the call go to voicemail and the message left on my voicemail has been transcribed here:
"This is David Wells my office has just received some paper work that does involve you. I would like to give you the opportunity to provide your own input regarding this matter. I dont think your aware of the current situation. Please take the time to return my call. I can be reached at 757-296-0106 again my number is 757-296-0106. Thank you for your time."
When I called back the number 757-296-0106 today 6/9/2012 a recorded message states "this number is currently not assigned" then drops the call.
WARNING: if you get a call from either one of these numbers BEWARE these are scammers! Report unwanted calls from them and do not be fooled they are scammers and need to be stopped. If they threathen you report them to the police, FTC, FBI.....they are collection loan scams and the people behind these activities need to be reported, stopped and brought to justice!

I got a call on the voice mail from Amber Knight.  She said she has just received my file and is a little concerned that I don't know the seriousness of the situation.  She wanted me to contact her at 757 296 0106 to provide her with a statement.  I am not too concerned since I don't owe any debts since I am DEBT FREE.  I never answer these type calls anyway.

Received call from 276-207-8042, Amber Knight left message saying she had "preliminary paperwork on her desk" and that it "appeared I was not aware of the details" so she needed me to call back and "give my statement."

My name was not used, there was no name of a company given, and she said her direct number was 757-296-0106. Needless to say, I will not be calling her back.

I have gotton at least 6 different phone #'s and area codes. As above stated script, they sure sound official and dire if you don't call back. I don't trust any company that calls daily-they probably get suckers that fall for the "documents on the desk" thing. I just wish they'd stop. I recently got 2 copies of my credit report so I assume they are collectors. Its unfair they can start the process over as indicated above---but stay away!

I have gotten several calls a day from the same people...thank you for your insight on this scam that they are running.  We should all ban together and report them and their illegal collection practices!  Take that Amber Knight!  :)

I have been getting calls from "Amber Knight" and others for about a week now.  Pre-recorded message, no name, no company ID, vague words like "recorded statement" and "this matter" and "preliminary paperwork," etc, etc.   Many posts say this is CKS Financial in Chesapeake, Va, well known for trying to collect on old debt that is past the SOL.  I am not returning any calls, but I have filed a complaint with the NY Atty General's Office.  They are aware of these people.  2 complaints last year in NYS.

I recently started a debt management and have started getting call from Mr. Vancleef, Amber Knight, Kara and David Wells all from 276-207-8042.  If you are calling me about Sears or Dell then call 1-800-227-3123 and speak with a representative from that firm (legal).  Tell them who you are and they will tell you what the repayment terms of my program are.  In accordance with the advice of the firm I am going through I will not discuss this with you.  I will give you the phone number and tell you to call them and then hang up.

Kathy I just got the same call. They did not ask for anyone. I have don't know of any Collectors not having a TOLL FREE number. The phone numbers are CELL PHONE numbers.

Got a new player today a Mr Van Cleef he sounded very upset that he had given his staff ( Amber and David?)the task of contacting me and because they were unable to do so now he had to make a decision about something ? Did not once use my name or identify the company he "works" for.

Request call back. Have document with my name????
